The Internal Medicine Club will be selling LECOM apparel. Help support the club and show off your LECOM pride!

November meeting will be held on Thursday, November 5th at 5:15pm via Zoom, and we will have a guest speaker, Dr. Masser.

The LECOM Emergency Medicine Club will be hosting a Rapid Sequence Intubation Course on Thursday, Oct. 29th at 5:30 where Dr. Risavi will cover the advanced technique of RSI used to secure patient airways in emergency situations.

Our October meeting will be held on Thursday, October 15th at 5:30pm via Zoom, and we will have a few guest speakers! Dr. Weaver-Agostoni, the Program Director from UPMC Shadyside, and two of her Family Medicine Residents will be hosting a Q&A.

The MS1 students have their third set of anatomy exams on October 8-9, 2020, for head and neck. SOMA members who are MS2s will host a virtual anatomy review night that will encompass both of these areas. The event will be hosted virtually.

Mentoring Club will be holding a fundraiser for the YMCA Kids Club with the Chipotle Mexican Grill on Peach Street on October 20th from 4-8 PM. Simply type “VTK4XEQ” into the Chipotle app where it says “Promo Code” to help out!

The LECOM EM Club will be hosting a Stop the Bleed Course on Friday, Sept. 4th at 5:30 where Dr. Risavi will cover basic techniques used to control bleeding emergency situation and briefly discuss the mechanisms of clot formation.

Pediatrics club will be hosting Dr. Courson and residents from the University of Akron via Microsoft Teams to discuss the pediatric specialty and residency.

The MS1 students have their second set of anatomy exams on September 17-18, 2020, for thorax, abdominal cavity, and pelvis. SOMA members who are MS2s will host a virtual anatomy review night that will encompass all three of these cavities.

SOSA will be holding its monthly meeting for September on 09/30 @ 6 PM. An email with more information, including the link, will be sent out to members. The guest speaker will be Dr. Michael Smith D.O., a 2020 LECOM grad who recently matched Urology.

The 2nd SOSA Practice Practical will be 09/13 at 9 AM. Please contact the SOSA gmail or any E-board members with your questions.

Pediatrics club will be hosting Dr. Abeles and her residents from the University of Buffalo via ZOOM to discuss the pediatric specialty and residency.

Come enjoy some delicious food at Blaze Pizza on Thursday March 26th to support LECOM Mentoring club from 5 pm to 8 pm. SOSA is helping them host this fundraiser and will donating our half of the proceeds to Mentoring club for the Kids.

SOSA and several MS3-4 students will be hosting a clinic in which we will teach students how to perform basic suturing techniques. This is only open to SOSA members.

SOSA will be hosting a beach clean up at Presque Isle this fall, from 8-11am on Saturday Nov. 23rd. Member’s attending will be asked to help pick up litter and pollution left behind from travelers and visitors over the summer and late fall.

The Family Medicine Club is having another pin sale. We have pins to celebrate the completion of Anatomy (MS1/2) & the GI & Cardiology Systems (MS2)!
