October 21, 2024 at 9:33 PMApprovedPediatrics Club and Womens Health and Medical Society - LECOM Embroidered Sweatshirt SalePediatrics Club10/21/202411/14/2024Pediatrics Club and WHMS will be partnering to hold a LECOM embroidered sweatshirt sale. We have been working with a local shop, Creative Imprints, in addition to Matthew Breeze to ensure the proper LECOM logo (from the powerpoint file) was used to develop mockups. We will be offering students 2 different sweatshirt options, one being a 50/50 cotton/poly blend crewneck (cheaper option), and a second (more durable option) Champion cotton/poly/black poly power blend, moisture wicking, rib-hemmed crewneck. Both sweatshirt options will have the LECOM logo embroidered across the center of the chest. Sweatshirts will range in raw price from $32.30-$46.55 depending on how many of each sweatshirt option are purchased. The $40 and $55 cost per sweatshirt permits us a cushion for fundraising of about $7-$8 per sweatshirt purchased (divided between both clubs). Students will have the ability to select from a range of color choices (as approved from Matthew Bresee) as well as from sizes S-3XL when purchasing. See attached mockups for reference. The sale will be open to students between Thursday November 14-Wednesday November 20th. Sweatshirt orders will be placed with Creative Imprints the following day, Thursday November 21st. Sweatshirt orders will be completed (per Creative Imprints representative Abigail) by December 13th. This permits Peds Club and WHMS Executive Boards to distribute sweatshirts during finals week so students may purchase them as gifts for the holiday if they choose. We will plan to disburse sweatshirts to students during the day on Tuesday 12/17 in the cafeteria. Final fundraising amounts will be determined once all payments have been collected, and once raw costs for the sweatshirts have been used to pay Creative Imprints. Pediatrics Club and WHMS will then evenly split the proceeds for fundraising purposes.

This is simply showing students where the links are to the websites for these organizations and they can sign up if they choose on their own. This event will be for students that are interested in volunteering with medical outreach programs during their summer or winter breaks. We will be hosting a small meeting for students where we will answer any questions about the volunteer groups we have connections with or the work they do, as well show anyone interested how to sign up! These two NGO's, Refugee Health Alliance and Florida Lions Eye Clinic, are located in Naples Florida, McAllen Texas, and San Diego California, where they provide medical aid to refugees and recent immigrants in Mexico and the states. If you are interested in working with Spanish speaking communities in the US or Mexico doing simple medical work, medical translation, or just basic volunteer aid, come through and we will help you get started! The meeting will be held in the Vora lounge on Thursday, November 7th at 4:00 pm.

Attendees will enjoy an evening of skating with friends and classmates, contributing to a local senior living center through gift donations. The money collected from the event will be used as funds to purchase any remaining gifts for the seniors Capacity & Registration: The event is limited to 150 attendees due to venue capacity. Registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis via a sign-up form. Students must sign up in advance to secure their spot. The gifts will be at the event and there will be a signup sheet to keep track of gifts and attendance. Waiver forms and proper skating safety will be distributed as per LECOM Sports park policy

Collections will be held in the North entrance lobby. Toys will be picked up regularly by club members and stored to then be donated. Students will be able to earn 1 hour volunteering per toy donated with a maximum of 2 hours earned. Donations and student names will be monitored via an online form.

This event is open to all students and faculty and provides an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange, community building, and promoting inclusivity at LECOM. Pressed has agreed to provide us with 20% of all sales from LECOM students that mention the Neuropsych club at checkout. This fundraising event will help our club to build funding for our future events. Also, this event will provide students an opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee or one of the delicious options on Pressed offers on their menu. This will be a comforting event for our members before the beginning of the thanksgiving break.

Students will create teams of 3-5 prior to the event via Google forms and will have the opportunity to test and strengthen their microbiology knowledge among their peers. One of the goals of SNMA is to help create more socially and culturally conscious physicians and to include this goal, we will include bacterial and viral disease manifestations on both melanated and non-melanated skin within some of the question stems. This way students will be aware of how to identify how these organisms present physically on a range of skin colors. The event is open to both first and second year students and it will be a great prep material for the Final Micro Exam for first years as well as board prep for second years.

December is a time to study for finals and it can be very stressful. This brings an opportunity for students to purchase and try a variety of Asian snacks, either for themselves or friends, and to destress for a bit. It can be tough to find Asian treats around Erie, so APAMSA would like to bring them right to campus. It would provide a great opportunity for students to unwind, explore new flavors, or reminisce. Students will be able to choose from a wide array of Asian snacks which includes Matcha KitKats, Vita Teas, Ramen, and much more! All the money raised will go towards supporting the club to fund future events. Students will be able to pick and choose what they want through a preorder form which will be sent on Monday, November 25th. The preorder will end at 11:59PM on Friday, December 6th. It will be first come first serve due to limited supplies. Any snacks that are not sold out will be available for purchase on the day of pick-up which will be from 11:30 PM - 12:30 PM on Tuesday, December 10th in the LECOM cafeteria. These are the snacks that students will be able to purchase: Tonkatsu Ramen Buldak Ramen White Jjampong Vietnamese Instant Pho Maxim Instant Coffee Vita Drinks: Lemon Tea and Honey Chrysanthemum Taiwan Classic Bubble Tea Kit Kats: Strawberry, Matcha, Milk Tea, Strawberry Shortcake LECOM does not need to provide anything, APAMSA will be responsible for any clean up after the event.

Dr. Wagner is an alumni of LECOM-Erie as well as a recent graduate of Millcreek Community Hospital Psychiatry residency program. He currently works at Millcreek hospital as a psychiatric attending. As both a LECOM graduate and recent attending, he offers relevant experiences on applying to psychiatry residency programs as a LECOM student, as well as integrating osteopathic principles into patient care. The event will be held over Zoom as a Q&A event. We will send out a questionnaire for any interested club members to submit questions they have for Dr. Wagner. Besides that, the conversation will be free form, allowing Dr. Wagner to share his experience and answer any questions that may come up during the meeting.
November 11, 2024 at 9:30 AMApprovedProlotherapy WorkshopSOMA11/11/202412/10/2024SOMA would like to host a prolotherapy workshop on Tuesday December 10th from 6:30 - 8:30pm. This workshop will be led by Dr. Cukierski and Dr. Falk, they will be present throughout the entire workshop providing direct supervision of students. They will be demonstrating the injection of saline into the knee joints of two cadavers and allow students the opportunity to learn hands on the approach to prolotherapy injections. Dr. Kulesza has approved the use of the cadavers and protocol for the workshop. Material disposal will be supervised by Dr. Cukierski and Dr. Falk who will provide sharps disposable bins, and ensure proper protocol is followed in disposal of all materials used. This workshop will be open to SOMA members, and limited seats will be available on a first come first serve basis on a sign up sheet.

Immediately after the quilt making event, students will gather in the atrium to form LECOM's annual AIDS day ribbon picture. *ALL bags for candy grams will be SEALED, and any food or drinks contained within are NOT to be consumed anywhere outside of cafeteria or Vora Lounge! The candy grams will be sold at $3 each, and students can buy 2 for $5; if any students wish to donate more money than the listed amount(s), they are more than welcomed to do so! All profits will be donated to Elton John AIDS Foundation.

This will provide students the opportunity to show pride in their school while staying warm. We plan to sell the jackets at a low profit to keep them affordable for all students and we plan to sell to all LECOM Erie students and staff. We plan on using the official LECOM logo and have been in contact with Matt Bresee on its appropriate use. The North Face Jacket Fundraiser will help our club accumulate funds to use this coming school year on any events that we plan on hosting. Once this event is approved, we will reach out to The North Face regarding the fundraiser. Embroidery of these jackets will be done at the local Embroidery Shoppe (3018 Cherry St, Erie, PA 16508). When the jackets ready, we will distribute them in the Vora Lounge. The main point of contact for this fundraiser will be Mohammad Qasem at mqasem20080@med.lecom.edu.

We will distribute them in the Vora Lounge once they arrive in December. Since all members paid dues upon joining the club, all of these official members who have paid dues from both first and second year will be receiving this shirt for all of their hard work at volunteering events, fundraisers, and guest speaker networking. For anyone who isn't able to pick up their shirts on December 10th, between 11:30am-12:30pm, we will be reaching out to them directly to schedule a different time for their shirt pick ups. We will have our first clinic on 1/8, with each subsequent clinic being on the first Wednesday of every month. They will be from 5:30-7:30 PM in the at the Plaza 38 medical center. This will give students first hand experience with patient interactions while also giving them a chance to practice OMM under the supervision of LECOM Faculty. This clinic will adhere to applicable state, federal, and local regulations. More information is included in the attached document.

The purpose of this dinner would be to offer a relaxed environment that the current executive board and forum writers could meet with the newly voted executive board and forum writers to foster a seamless transition/changing of the guard. At this dinner, new ideas for the 2025-2026 academic year will be discussed, forum writers can work together to share tips on how to lead successful forums and retain members. We would also like to invite several faculty members to this dinner to encourage conversation about osteopathy in practice, tips for board studying and rotations, and convocation preparation. We would like to invite Dr. Stephany, Dr. Erik Esper, Dr. Hendryx, Dr. Balmer, Dr. Cukierkski, Dr. Thomas, Dr. Chludzinski, and Dr. Rowane to name a few. We have 35 members planning on attending convocation in March so this would also be a great way to build excitement for this trip. We are really hoping this dinner can serve as a "Jump Start" to the new year with the new chapter leadership and also jumpstart our trip to Orlando. We are allocating $350 for this dinner to offset costs of food for the members in attendance. Any costs of food over this amount will be assumed by the individuals there in attendance. This dinner will be open to the old and new exec board members, old and new forum writers.
