In our collaboration, we would like to ask students for donation items and supplies to give to EUMA's program funds to assist those who are homeless. They require different items for everyday use, welcome home kits, and for the Rainbow Connection Thrift Store. These everyday items include, twin size sheet sets, pillowcases, twin-size comforters & blankets, new bath towels, washcloths, laundry detergent, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Clorox wipes, pillows, diapers, children's clothing, cleaning products, swifters, and especially toilet paper and large kitchen bags. For the "Welcome Home Kit" for those moving from homeless to a home, we would ask for shower curtains & rings, bath mat/rugs, bath towels, small trash can, mop, bucket, broom, dust pan, tall kitchen trash can, kitchen towels, pot holders, dish rack, drying mat, pots, pans, measuring cups/spoons, colander, cooking utensils, small kitchen rug, coffee maker, toaster, cups, plates, silverware, glass wear, and bowls. For the Rainbow Connection Thrift store we will request dressers, sofa, love seat, microwave, toaster, lamp, TV, and an End table. Donations for the Rainbow Connection Thrift Store will need to be donated directly to EUMA. CMDA will be overseeing the donations from April 23-May 1, 2024 and delivering these items to EUMA on 28 West 9th Street, Erie, PA 16502. We will have a bin in the front lobby where students can place their donations in. We will monitor this through a Google spreadsheet where students can sign up for what they would like to donate. She is an adjunct clinical assistant professor at LECOM and an attending physician at MCH, working closely with resident physicians in psychiatry. It can be tough to find Asian treats around Erie, so APAMSA would like to bring them right to campus. It would provide a great opportunity for students to unwind, explore new flavors, or reminisce. All the money raised will go towards supporting the club to fund future events. This clinic does outreach work in Immigrant communities in southwest Florida where they see primarily Cuban and Puerto Rican Patients. She will be speaking on the challenges and experiences she's had providing care in Spanish speaking outreach settings and as well as how we can get involved in this line of work as physicians in our future. She will also be discussing her career path in Ophthalmology, her fellowships, and recommendations of how to to best pursue ophthalmology as a medical student. One adult staff member from the YMCA (usually 2-3 are present on a regular basis) will be present at every meeting to be in control and take responsibility for the program and children. As usual, a child will never be alone with a volunteer (there must be at least 3 people in a room/outside for safety and liability reasons. The purpose of the presence of the LECOM students once a week at the Kids Club is to help mentor and facilitate personal growth in the children of the program.
