September 29, 2023 at 7:17 AMApprovedInternal Medicine Club Apparel FundraiserInternal Medicine Club09/29/202310/25/2023The Internal Medicine Club will be hosting a LECOM apparel sale as a club fundraiser through Sew Much More Services. The Internal Medicine Club will earn 15% of sales, which will help support club events and initiatives in the near future. Apparel can be ordered online at the link below once the event is approved, and the sale will last for approximately two weeks (ideally the last week of October and the first week of November). Once the sale has run for two weeks, the company will need approximately 2 weeks to fill the orders, and then the orders will be sent out. Orders can be directly shipped to those that place them, or there will be a group pick up option. For the group pick-up, people place their order online and then pick it up in the LECOM cafeteria a later date designated by the club. To do this, Sew Much More will drop off the group pick-up orders to the club's president, Sarah Centore, for the people that selected group pick-up. Sarah will then bring these orders into the school on a designated day after the orders have been given to us, and the club will distribute the remainder of the orders in the cafeteria. The group pick-up allows a more cost effective option for members who do not want to pay for shipping. The contact person from Sew Much More is Jody Centore. September 29, 2023 at 1:31 PMApprovedMock practical 3ACOS-MSS09/29/202310/09/2023ACOS will be working alongside Dr. Kulesza in setting up a mock practical, with both a written and oral component for ACOS MS1s members to help prepare for their next exam. We are opening up assistance in preparation for the mock exam to SSP so that MS2s can gain volunteer hours for their time. The written component will take place in the Cadaver lab while the oral will be held in the study rooms 1-5. We will also be having a PBL mock practical at the same time happening in case room 117. The educational purpose of this event is to prepare MS1's for their anatomy practical. It will be performed exactly as the real practical to allow students to gauge their level of understanding of the material. The following COVID-19 protocol will be strictly followed (if mandated at the time of the event): 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the clinic--both volunteers and attendees 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend the mock practical 3.) We will require masks, and uphold social distancing of at least 6 feet 4.) We will sanitize before and after the exam to avoid the potential spread of COVID 5.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending 7.) We will keep attendees in smaller groups by generating different start times for their exam
October 4, 2023 at 5:15 PMApprovedBlaze Pizza FundraiserPathology Club10/04/202311/14/2023On November 14th, 2023 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, Pathology Club would like to hold a fundraiser through Blaze Pizza located at 1930 Douglas Pkwy, Erie, PA 16509. 20% of total order proceeds, from both online and in-store orders (not delivery), will go directly to the club. Blaze makes fliers for the event with their store information, the club name (not including the LECOM logo), and instructions on how to present the flyer. The flyer is not made until closer to the event, however, an example of the flyer is attached to this request. The supporters will either show this flier or enter the promo code assigned for our fundraising event. After the event, a check will be mailed to the Pathology Club President, Savannah Sokalski, and be delivered to the SGA treasurer directly. Instructions for fundraiser per the company: "During the event, your supporters present the flyers (printed out or on their cell phones) when they order their fast-fire’d creation. For online fundraisers, your supporters should order on blazepizza.com or via the Blaze Pizza App and then enter the online code provided on the flyer at checkout in the “Promo Code" field. The collection bin will be housed in the security office from 11/27 to 12/8. The morning of 12/9, Savannah Sokalski will deliver them to Alex Lockwood at the Second Harvest Food Bank (Contact info: Special Events & Volunteer Coordinator, 1507 Grimm Dr. Erie, PA 16501, 814.459.3663 x 113). The contract agreement for the fundraiser has been attached. The products for donation are: dish soap, cleaning products, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, laundry soap, shampoo, body wash, canned fruits and veggies, canned soup, canned meats, and canned beans. Students will receive 1 volunteer hour for every 3 items donated, with a maximum of 2 volunteer hours for 6 donated items. However, students can donate as many items as they wish. This event will be open to the whole school, not just Pathology Club members. The Excel spreadsheet used for sign-ups and recording of volunteer hours is attached.

The Family Medicine Club connected with her an Osteopathic Family Medicine Conference in Hershey. She will be speaking about her experience as an Osteopathic Family Physician on November 16th, at 5:30PM over Zoom. She will be sharing general information about her path to become a family medicine physician, her osteopathic training, and offering any advice to current students. The speaking event will be followed by a Q&A session. Anyone is welcome to come prepared with questions about her life, asking for advice, or to just listen. The event help help aspiring family medicine medical students learn more from a current osteopathic physician. Also, it will be a great meeting for those not sure of a specialty to learn more about the field. No food will be involved in this event. After approval, a Google form or spreadsheet will be sent to the student body where students can input their choice(s) of hoodie/sweater, color, size, etc. Additionally, the form will request that the student submit payment via Venmo, cash or other acceptable form of payment at that time. Once the form submissions and payments are tallied together, the final group order will be placed and pick up will be arranged to occur in the cafeteria or Vora lounge.

Community of Caring provides support to community members experiencing homelessness. They need items such as clothing, soap, toothbrushes, sanitary napkins, etc. We will run a donation drive that allows members to donate to this critical organization and support the community. The drive involves students signing up on an excel spreadsheet for the items they would like to donate from November 17th-24th. We would then provide a bin for the students to drop off their donations from November 27th – December 1st. The donation bin will be left near the security office, and emptied as it fills to ensure enough space for donations to be left in the bin. For participating in the drive we will offer 1 service hour for every 2 items a student donates, with each student able to earn a maximum of 2 service hours. Students will be dropping off donations to the bin located in the LECOM building and therefore adhere to LECOM COVID mitigation policies. All correspondence for the event will be done through email and E-Board members will drop off the items to the ‘Community of Caring’ organization afterwards. The Director of the Community of Caring organization, Maureen Dunn, would also like to speak to students over zoom on Thursday November 30th from 6-7pm about Community of Caring and how the donations will be used. This will give students insight into the local non-profit in case they would like to volunteer for them again in the future. Our Club advisor, Dr. Risavi, approves of the event.

We will be accepting new, unwrapped toys for kids in need. We will have a box in the front entrance where our club members can donate their items and then we will send them to the organization. There will be a maximum of 2 volunteer hours, with each product being 0.5 hours. This has to take place right before the holiday seasons.

Location: LECOM Cafeteria Purpose: To provide a comfortable venue for mentors and mentees to meet and discuss various topics and questions. Funding: We will be using SGA funds to purchase donuts. The general breakdown of the event will be that SGA members will arrive with the donuts at 6:50am and make sure we are ready to host all the mentors and mentees. From 7:00am to 7:50am, mentors and mentees can meet in the cafeteria and discuss how everything is going so far in medical school over a donut. For the last 10 minutes, SGA members will ensure that everything in the cafeteria is cleaned up.

Students will be asked to bring a shoelace for their own use. The educational purpose of this event is to introduce knot tying to medical students prior to rotations. After speaking with several third and fourth year students, they have expressed the importance of this skill during their surgical rotation. The event would involve students students donating toys from a list provided to us by Lutheran Bethesda Services, a local children's shelter. After completing their donations, students will drop off their gifts in a collection box kept outside of the security office, similar to other donation drives. Collection will begin on November 27 and end on December 13th. Each gift donation will count for 0.5 hours with a maximum of 3 hours (6 donations). Hours will count towards SSP and LECOM hours. Educational purpose: the educational purpose of this event is to provide a first-hand perspective from a current student who is able to closely relate to the ACOS members. This will be a fantastic opportunity to allow students to engage with upperclassman and ask questions about how she approached her medical school career. The Patagonia's allowed for custom embroidery and will feature the school crest logo (attached). Event will take place remotely (with pick up at the school), in the early Spring Semester. Remote Fundraiser - Pick Up location at school. A Google Form will be sent out as soon upon event approval, and the sale will run through late January. The company we will be using is Threadfellows. Multiple types of Patagonia jackets will be offered, including vests, full zip jackets, and quarter zip jackets. Pick up will be COVID-safe in the LECOM cafeteria as students passing out and picking up orders will follow COVID protocols set forth by administration at the time of pick-up.
