Ex: 20 spaces for people to sign up for pacifiers/Wubbanub, 20 spaces for people to sign up for rattles, etc. This will ensure we have equal materials for each basket being donated. We will set up a collection box in LECOM's front office during the week so students can drop off their donated items. We wanted to hold a box by security in the front lobby for the week of March 20 - March 24th. Then the following week on March 27th we would like to hold an event at LECOM, where members would put the baskets together for the NICU and deliver them to Grady's Decision non-profit for distribution. In addition we where hoping to have an in-person (or zoom) event with Ryan Smith to come and talk about his experience of giving these gifts and what it means to the patients family. I think this would be amazing for the students to see their impact on the patients and where their donations are actually going. This event would take place in the Vora lounge on March 20th, the first day of our collection. Event with Ryan Smith on March 20th in Vora lounge (or zoom) Donations collected the week of March 20th - March 24th by security in the front lobby Event to build and put together the Easter baskets 27th - Vora loungeFebruary 21, 2023 at 10:43 AMApprovedBasic/Clinical Neuroscience Review NightsSOMA02/21/202303/20/2023SOMA students (primarily second-years) will lead review sessions to help guide first-year students on study strategies of high-yield topics for Basic and Clinical Neuroscience, especially neuroanatomy. These sessions have been requested by first-year students. As first-years work their way through the systems curriculum of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience, OMS2s will host short, virtual review nights of the material and high yield topics. SOMA students will coordinate review content with Dr. Kulesza for the specific aspects of neuroanatomy as well as other faculty members for other content areas that are covered. These reviews will be held over Zoom, which will allow for social distancing because of the virtual nature of the event and no in-person assembly is required. SOMA members will be notified of review nights and it's corresponding review material via email. Our goal in doing so is to help bridge the gap that OMS1's have had with transitioning into more difficult content and systems.February 21, 2023 at 11:56 AMApprovedDOnuts for DO'sSOMA02/21/202303/30/2023SOMA will be handing out donuts from Mighty Fine Doughnuts and coffee from the LECOM cafe- free to students, faculty and staff that stop by the LECOM cafeteria the morning of March 30th paid for by SOMA and SAAO. The festival is celebrated in March of every year that marks the end of winter and welcomes in the arrival of spring. Holding this event for the student body of Asian Americans at LECOM would be a great way to honor and commemorate the tradition. The event will be available to students, staff, and faculty. We will take precaution/abide by LECOM's COVID protocol by limiting the maximum capacity to 80 people. Using our club funds, we will provide/purchase art supplies to create colorful t-shirts in honor of Holi. This interactive event would be a great way to celebrate the tradition and to spread diversity within LECOM's community. February 22, 2023 at 2:11 PMApprovedSticker FundraiserMentoring02/22/202303/28/2023Mentoring Club - Erie would like to have a sticker fundraiser. After designing one sticker for the club, we will also incorporate designs the kids themselves will make at the club. These designs are coloring pages that promote the Mentoring Club. As a club, we will select a few kid's designs to sell to the LECOM body! These designs will be included in the sticker "pack" that will also have some uplifting stickers as well. To better facilitate the management of the sale, we will send out a Google form to club members for purchase, so we can organize the finances & sticker pack pick-up as efficiently as possible. Attached below are the designs we were thinking of selling. The sticker design is one formed by the officers, while the coloring pages are the ones the kids will have a chance to design themselves.February 22, 2023 at 3:08 PMApprovedInternal Medicine Club Speaker Event: How to Succeed on RotationsInternal Medicine Club02/22/202303/21/2023Dr. Annette T. One thing they expressed that they are in need of are new backpacks. We plan to hold a fundraiser to collect new backpacks to donate to the USCRI. We will be asking for adult-size backpacks so even as the children grow they will still be able to use them. The goal of this is to provide a thoughtful donation to better the lives of our new community members by enabling them to get an education or travel with ease as they adjust to their new life here in Erie. There will be donation boxes set up in the main entrance lobby of LECOM Main. SOMA members will check the boxes once a day to ensure donation collection and neatness of the area and at the end of the drive deliver donated backpacks to USCRI. Since donations will be able to be made individually, students will be able to social distance and will be required to follow LECOM recommendations on masking during the duration of the drive.March 1, 2023 at 3:53 PMApprovedSAAO Cookies and Cheesecake fundraiserSAAO03/01/202303/01/2023We are requesting to hold a cookie dough and cheesecake sale from Stanganellis, a local family-owned business. This fundraiser aims to raise money to reduce the out-of-pocket expense for students who want to attend Convocation next year (2024). The cookie dough will be offered in 5 different flavors, and the cheesecake will be offered in 3 different flavors. Information will be collected through an excel sheet that will be sent out in the email announcement. Once the order has been placed and paid for. Stanganellis needs about 14 days to process the order. The order will be delivered to me, and then myself and one more board member of SAAO will set up a pick-up place in the LECOM cafeteria or Voora lounge. Once the dates become more apparent, students will be told what day to expect their order and how long we will be in the cafeteria for them to pick up the cookies and cheesecake. My contact at Stanganellis is Evelyn Swinarski. Her email is evelyn@stanganellis.com. Our COVID mitigation plan: Students who are handing out the orders will wear a mask, and students picking up their orders will also wear masks. The food will be packaged individually, so there is no issue with contamination. March 6, 2023 at 3:51 PMApproved"What I wish I knew going into MS2" with Jake KesielNeuropsych Club03/06/202303/20/2023The NeuroPsych Club would like to host Jake Kisiel, D.O. for an hour of answering questions and sharing his perspective on what he "wishes he knew going into M2" over Zoom. Jake is a LECOM grad class of 2022 and is currently a PGY-1 at Millcreek's Psychiatry residency program. At such a critical time point on our road to be osteopathic physicians, we believe Jake would be an invaluable resource for students deciding what to do over the Summer (as it fast approaches) and how to strategize to make M2 as successful as possible. Plus, being a fresh LECOM grad, Jake will have a better idea of what sort of opportunities exist at LECOM and Erie at large that can help maximize our next steps as M2s towards our future careers. Prior to the event we will open up a google document so students can pose questions for Jake to answer. Also, as part of our COVID mitigation strategy we will be hosting the event over Zoom.March 7, 2023 at 5:55 PMApprovedAPAMSA: Andora's Bubble Tea FundraiserAPAMSA03/07/202304/24/2023APAMSA will be hosting a fundraiser in collaboration with Erie's own Andora's Bubble Tea Shop located on State Street near Gannon University. When This Will Occur: We are looking to collect donation items throughout the week of April 10-14th. A collection box will be placed inside the security office during this 5-day time period for students to drop off their donation items are their convenience. We will be offering 0.5 volunteer hours per product, with a cap at 2 volunteer hours per student. Volunteers/Participants: The google document will then give the MSC a headcount on the total number of participants of this donation drive. On April 14th, the end of the collection period, the items donated will be counted by MSC cabinet members in order to confirm the amount donated correlates relative to the number of items expected per the signup sheet. COVID Mitigation Plan: Since all donation items will be collected in a box within the Security Office on LECOM property, all students donating must keep within LECOM’s current COVID guidelines. As of now, students donating are required to wear face masks. Additionally, when Angelina Stone, MSC President, donates the items to the CoC on April 15th, she will be required to wear a face mask in order to abide by the school’s COVID guidelines as well.
