These review sessions will occur every other week but may occasionally occur two weeks in a row depending on the need and the OPP lab schedule.

As requested by Dr. Ferretti, we will be having a mandatory training for anyone who was selected as a Big for SOMA's Big/Little program. We will have Dr. Kevin Klauer give a talk for the first hour (a separate event request has been submitted for this!), and then we will take the second hour (this event request) to cover the overview of the Big program. We will be instructing Bigs on what to do and what not to do, what advice to share with their littles, and what topics to avoid as they are out of our scope as Bigs. The agenda for the meeting will be developed with Dr. Lee, who will be in attendance for the training to ensure we have appropriate faculty oversight. We feel this is an important event to have in person, which is why we have requested reserving Lecture Hall D. We will require all attendees to wear masks, and will practice appropriate social distancing, and follow all other COVID protocols. Attendance will be taken, and a post-event recap will be sent to Dr. Shabloski when the event is complete.
	January 31, 2022 at 2:20 PM	Cancelled	Beating the System: Tips and Tricks from MS2s	LECOM SGA - Medicine - Erie	01/31/2022	02/07/2022	With the MS1s transitioning to Systems, SGA wanted to offer an event where MS2 representatives will share tips and tricks on how to study efficiently for systems on Monday, February 7th from 6 PM – 7 PM . There will be many different study styles presented. They will also talk about Pathoma, Sketchy, First Aid, Boards and Beyond and OnlineMedEd. A google form will be provided ahead of time for MS1s to submit any questions they want to ask the presenters. People who submit a question by February 4, 2022, by 11:59 PM will be entered into a raffle to win a gift card. This will be a great event for MS1s to gain some insight and start developing strategies to effectively study for Systems.
	March 13, 2022 at 7:35 PM	Cancelled	Fatphobia in Medicine	Mental Health Task Force	03/13/2022	04/13/2022	This will be a MHTF-guided discussion on the impact of weight stigma in medicine and the mental health consequences of that stigma on patients and their health outcomes. We will discuss how fatphobia has impacted us personally and continues to be present in our medical journey, and how that has affected our relationship with medical practitioners and could affect our future patients. Using examples from medical and public health literature, we’ll examine our view of obesity as an epidemic and as a measure of mortality risk, and how that has influenced medical perspectives on weight. We will also discuss the genetic and socioeconomic components of weight, and how those might be barriers to thinness. Finally, we will also brainstorm together how we, as future physicians, can help address fatphobia in our practice and make patients more comfortable, such as asking permission to discuss weight and trusting patients to know their own bodies. Those who participate actively will get a $10 gift card, as this event will be in lieu of the monthly breakfast.

Each student would purchase a ticket for $12. An excel sheet will be monitored for all students that will be in attendance to maintain contract tracing. Additionally, students will have the option to bring their significant other as well but will be required to give the name and phone number of the additional person at the time of purchase in order to maintain contact tracing. Since the venue is entirely outside, masking would not be needed. If a student comes into contact with a positive case, we will utilize the excel sheet to monitor any potential outbreak. The overall price would be: 60 tickets—> $2,880 The price of the ticket will include: (pasted from Erie Seawolves website) Standard Buffet Details: Buffet includes three entrees (Smith's hot dogs + two Chef's selections), three picnic-fare side dishes (varies by game), Frito-Lay chips, cookies, and Pepsi fountain drinks. Serving begins approximately 30 minutes before game time and lasts an hour after first pitch (90 minutes total). You must have a buffet ticket/wristband to receive service from the buffet attendant. Ticket to game in air-conditioned space with balcony This event is open to the Class of 2025 in celebration of almost finishing their first year of medical school. I also wanted to add that if availability for the package fills before this get approved they have another option which includes: A ticket to watch the game from the Picnic Perch. Access to a 90-minute buffet including: Smith's hot dogs, hamburgers, BBQ pulled pork, mac & cheese, potato salad, garden salad, Lay's potato chips, cookies, and Pepsi soft drinks. total price would be $1680 The above mentioned option would only be pursued if the original option is not available.
	April 3, 2022 at 2:40 PM	Cancelled	National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food Drive	Class of 2025	04/03/2022	05/14/2022	The Second Harvest Food Bank of Erie reached out and wanted volunteers for their National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Food drive that is going to take place on May 14th, 2022. This will be the 30th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive where postmen pick up food from all over the city. People usually set out their donations the morning of the event near their mailbox and front door. The Food Bank is looking for volunteers between the hours of 10am-7pm to help with the drive. They’re also looking for some volunteers to be stationed at donation drop off sites located throughout Erie and would assist with loading a semi-truck with incoming donations. I know that COVID restrictions are easing up, but masks will be enforced with unvaccinated individuals, and other precautions will be taken to make sure students can be COVID safe. I know a lot of students really want to be more involved in the community and I think this would be a great idea for students to help the local Erie community and work together with different individuals.

This is because our weekly work with the YMCA kids clubs is constituted of playing with the kids and helping them with anything they might ask of a mentor. We do not discuss club issues at these weekly gatherings but rather spend 1 -1.5 hours volunteering to work with the kids affiliated with the Y and thus our club. Therefore, we would like for these gatherings to be recognized as volunteering by the school.

He will be speaking about the LECOM Family Medicine Residency program on Monday, May 2nd at 5:30PM. He will be sharing general information on the program including curriculum, schedule, and the community. The info session will be followed by a Q&A session. Anyone is welcome to come prepared with questions about the residency program, questions about applications, or just come ready to listen. Pizza will also be served to help promote SAACOFP to students and recruit new members. The pizza will be served in the cafeteria. We will be purchasing pizza from Maria's Pizza and will submit a reimbursement form. For safe distribution, we will make sure that the pizza is precut. Additionally, we will have one person distributing the slices while wearing cloves and a mask. All beverages will be individually packaged.

	August 18, 2022 at 5:56 PM	Cancelled	Mentorship in Medicine Talk	SOMA	08/18/2022	09/09/2022	Dr. Lee and Dr. Thielman have already been consulted on this event! After hearing him talk at SOMA's Summer Leadership Meeting (SLM) in Chicago in July, I have invited Dr. Kevin Klauer, CEO of the AOA, to come speak to our campus on Mentorship in Medicine. Dr. Klauer is a board certified EM Physician who has held many leadership positions with various medical organizations (ACEP, ACOEP, AOA). He has earned numerous awards for his mentorship and leadership, including the 2018 ACOEP Educator of the Year award. Dr. Klauer knows what it is like to be a physician, friend, and mentor, and he shares his experiences so well with students. As part of a panel at SOMA's SLM, Dr. Klauer emphasized the importance of the Mentor-Mentee relationship in medical school as well as while practicing medicine. This talk will be given immediately prior to the Big training session to kick off the Big/Little program for the year. As of now, we are requesting to have this be an in person talk in Lecture Hall D, and will be open to any first or second year student who wants to attend. We will require masks and practice appropriate social distancing. If the COVID climate changes and we need to switch our event to Zoom, we are willing to do so to accommodate the safety of all attendees.

This event is to join with other people throughout Erie county to clean up Presque Isle State Park. This is an opportunity to get volunteer hours cleaning up the beaches. This event is being coordinated through Lynn Armel from the Erie County Department of Planning & Community Development. They have assigned our group to meet at the East Ave. Boat Ramp on East Ave., Erie, PA, 16507 Cleaning supplies are being provided by Erie County. COVID-19 Mitigation : This event will be outdoors and students will be provided with gloves to limit risk of infection from items picked up and working with others. Students will also be asked to wear masks while at this event.
	September 1, 2022 at 2:08 PM	Cancelled	Daniel Rabe	LECOM Military Medicine Club	09/01/2022	09/15/2022	The Soldier and Sailors Home (military retirement home) located at 560 E 3rd St, Erie, PA 16507 has requested assistance on the evening of 9/15/22 to hold a campfire at their location for the residents. We have been requested to help transport residents in wheelchairs from the building to the campfire (on site), cook hot dogs and s'mores, and return residents back to the building after the event ends. No more than 10 volunteers are needed. RSVPs and Covid vaccine documentation will be sent to lecom.militarymedicine@gmail.com prior to event. COVID Policy: All volunteers, staff, and residents are to wear masks at all times other than eating. All parties will also show proof of 2 COVID vaccines and a booster. All club members will send said documentation to me, Daniel Rabe, and I will communicate them as necessary to our POC (Ken Vybiral, 814-878-4961, kvybiral@pa.gov)

	October 5, 2022 at 7:25 PM	Cancelled	Erie Otters Night	Class of 2025	10/05/2022	11/05/2022	We want to use our class funds to buy tickets for the Nov 5th otters game. The purpose of this event is to allow for a break from our studies and facilitate a mental health break for our students. Additionally, this would help enhance the camaraderie of the class of 2025 as we head into our final semester of didactic learning. Details: I was thinking 30 tickets based upon a current ongoing poll within the class (could be less). Once the results of the poll is finalized later this week, I will have a set interest of the number of students interested in tickets. The prospective date is Nov 5th at 7 pm. I have spoken with an Otters representative and he said: "Our ticket prices are $14 center ice, $12 west end or $10 east end." If we reserve 30 tickets the cheapest option would be $300 with the most expensive being $420. CARP plan: as this is an event during the (hopefully) low covid incidence rate in erie county, we would not have a specific COVID plan in place. However, each student will be sitting in a designated section surrounded by other lecom students to ensure that the spread of any potential diseases can be limited. Additionally, we will have an exact list of students that attended the event in case there is a need to contact them afterwards. Again, this would be an excellent way for LECOM students to get out and enjoy the many great events that Erie has to offer while also serving as a mental health escape for a few hours!
