The room has been reserved by Rebecca Banta. Dr. Stephany Esper will be speaking at the event by describing how individuals are matched with one of the five elements followed by explaining certain dysfunctions they can have within their element and how to treat those. While she explains, Dr. Hendryx has agreed to perform acupuncture on selected students of different elements so students can understand the practice better and receive exposure to the use of acupuncture. Our goal is to expose SOMA members to another method of healing different from traditional medicine with a more integrative, osteopathic focus. This will allow our members to expand their horizons and become more well-rounded through the knowledge of different holistic practices.April 8, 2025 at 9:40 AMApprovedSuture Clinic/ Wound CareEmergency Medicine04/08/202505/05/2025We would like to give our members the opportunity to participate in a Suture Clinic hosted by Emergency Medicine Club and led by Dr. Risavi. The advisor of the society is Alicea Chudzinski. The volunteers will help lead an anatomy lesson, including stretching, visual aids, and coloring sheets. The workshop will be in place to help the dancers learn anatomy important for learning flexibility and longevity in the sport. Stretching will include flexibility exercises that the dancers can do to warm up for practice, competition, or improve movement to reduce injuries or enhance abilities. Anatomy will be included in the event as well to provide a more detailed basis for as to why stretching is important for dance. As for volunteers, walking around and helping the dancers with anatomy and stretches will prove to reinforce anatomy lessons learned earlier in the year, as well as getting sports medicine club members experience working with athletes.
