February 16, 2021 at 2:26 PMApprovedMackenzie's MissionSports Medicine Club02/16/202103/01/2021March 1st, 6:30 PM-7:30 PM The ABS (The Amyloidosis Speakers Bureau) is an initiative focused on educating the next generation of doctors during medical school about this disease through presentations from amyloidosis patients and materials by expert medical advisors. Students will get to hear the raw and unedited story of Elizabeth, one of the patient speakers from the Amyloidosis Speakers Bureau, who will share their personal journey with amyloidosis -- from symptoms, through diagnosis, treatment, and life today battling a rare and incurable disease. This is a unique charity, because it focuses on educating medical students through a real-life patient encounter. The entirely virtual event will be hosted through ZOOM and will last roughly one hour. Mackenzie’s Mission has offered for us to use their ZOOM platform where they can hold a maximum of 500 students. A brief video about Amyloidosis is encouraged for students to watch before the event occurs. Timeline of events: Start time 6:30 PM Student lead introduction of Mackenzie’s Mission and Guest Speaker, Elizabeth (5 minutes) Speaker presentation (30 minutes) Live Q/A session (20 minutes) Closing and Thank you (5 minutes) The event is free of charge to students, and there was no fee to have the event brought to LECOM. Mackenzie’s Mission will send out a survey at the end of the presentation for students to take. The Amyloidosis Speakers Bureau will send $5 Amazon eCards to the first 20 students who complete the Feedback Form. LECOM will be the first Osteopathic school that Mackenzie’s Mission will have the opportunity to spread awareness to. They are very excited!

February 13, 2021 at 12:48 PMRejectedSOMA MMS Virtual Exam ReviewsSOMA02/13/202102/26/2021As MMS students work through Spring semester, they have a test every other Monday about either anatomy, embryology, immunology, pathology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, or genetics. Every other Friday evening during the length of Spring Semester (February 26 through May 7), SOMA students who are MS1s/MS2s will host a short, virtual review of the material and high yield topics. This virtual review will allow MMS students to focus their studies over the weekend for their tests on the following Mondays. These reviews will be virtual and held through either zoom or google meet. MMS students will be alerted through email (via Maricely) and their facebook group. This event will be completely virtual, and will follow all social distancing because of the virtual nature of the event, with no in-person assembly required.

November 4, 2020 at 9:39 PMApprovedLip Sync Battle: Virtual EditionOncology Club11/04/202001/09/2021Lip Sync Battle: Virtual Edition is a fundraiser where teams of students and faculty from LECOM along with their family or roommates compete by submitting videos of themselves performing a lip sync. We will encourage social distancing, mask wearing, and only making the videos with people they are living with. We will compile the videos for people to watch online/remotely. Viewers will then donate money designated for certain performers, and each donation will count as a vote. The team with the largest total donation wins! All proceeds from donations will go to Children's Miracle Network at St. Vincent Hospital with Allegheny Health Network of Erie, PA. The window for viewing and donating will be from Jan 9 to 23, 2021.

The event would involve selling LECOM labelled OPP clothes (Sports bra, shorts, face masks) online to OMS1 and OMS2 LECOM student. The initial idea was to begin the fundraiser prior to OPP sessions beginning. However, we have reviewed the schedules for 1st and 2nd years, and it looks like 1st years begin Nov 30th. This may not be enough time to have the idea approved and the clothes printed and ready for sale by the time the first years start OPP. However, we still think it can be ready early enough into the start of OPP for the 1st years and before the start of OPP for the second years. The funds for this event will be donated to Erie’s local women shelter for Christmas and the holidays in an attempt to help the shelter with any needs their recipients may have during that time period.

The small equipment package will include a Dejerine Reflex Hammer, 128 Tuning Fork, 512 Tuning Fork, Penlight, Pocket Eye Chart, Hospital Gown, Draping Sheet, and optional Professional Embroidered Doctor Bag. The sale will be through Steeles Supply Company. The sale will be completed via an online link (https://www.steeles.com/products/lecom-soma-student-discount-order-form) where students can choose what they would like to buy, pay for the purchase online with credit or debit card, and get the order shipped directly to their address. There will be no distribution needs for this sale as the equipment will be sent directly to students; therefore no contact between students is necessary. The link, along with a description of the products, will be sent to students via email to let them know of the sale. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to Mercy Center For Women.

These tables will be sold for $115, which is comparable to what you will find on Amazon. These tables will only be available for students who will be in Erie by November 12, 2020. These tables will be ordered through MixWholesale, which sells Saloniture Basic Portable Folding Tables. The shipping for these tables will be 5-7 business days once the order is put in. We are hoping to organize a pick-up area in one of the peripheral parking lots on LECOM campus. This will be organized similar to a drive-thru, where there will be a designated inflow/outflow area.

However due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are unable to sell food like this again. Therefore, we are hoping to sell premium winter jackets embroidered with the LECOM logo. Northface jackets are the premier in winter clothing and many other medical schools sell a version with their logo. Selling the "LECOM Northface Jacket" will provide students with an opportunity to wear high quality clothing that they can take pride in because it represents their school. We plan to sell the jackets at a low profit to keep them affordable for all students, and we plan to sell to all years and colleges at LECOM. We plan on using the official LECOM logo as provided in the portal on the jacket, embroidered in all white.

There was a supply problem with the Patagonia's. The jackets will be distributed to students in Erie via contactless pickup and then others will be shipped to the students for an additional price.
