This will be a contactless event, and we propose having food donation boxes at all three campus locations, either outside or inside the first set of doors, so Hybrid students are able to donate at their respective campuses. An officer from SOMA, who is already a hybrid student at each campus location, will be responsible for dropping off the box on Monday and collecting it on Friday. Kaitlyn Chadwick is a hybrid PBL student at Bayfront and would be responsible for the Bayfront collection box; Rachel Campitell is a hybrid student at West and would be responsible for the West collection box; Kevin Tay is a hybrid student at Main and would be responsible for the Main collection box. We will advertise this event to the entire LECOM student body so they are able to participate. Our option for remote students to participate will be for them to donate money via Venmo to our SOMA Treasurer, who will then give the money to Second Harvest Food Bank. At the conclusion of the Food Drive, I will arrange a date and time to drop off the collection boxes with the food bank; this will be done in a contact-free manner.April 12, 2021 at 4:30 PMApprovedSAACOFP Pin SaleFamily Medicine Club04/12/202104/16/2021SAACOFP will be hosting our annual pin sale fundraiser. We will discuss how weight stigma in medicine has affected our relationship with medical practitioners and could affect our future patients. Using examples from medical and public health literature, we’ll examine our view of obesity as an epidemic and as a measure of mortality risk, and how that has influenced medical perspectives on weight. We will also discuss the genetic and socioeconomic components of weight, and how those might be barriers to thinness. Finally, we will also brainstorm together how we, as future physicians, can help address weight stigma in our practice, such as asking permission to discuss weight and trusting patients to know their own bodies. Those who participate actively will get a $10 gift card, as this event will be in lieu of the monthly breakfast.February 27, 2021 at 8:34 PMApprovedSAAO MS1 Forum ReviewSAAO02/27/202104/08/2021This event will be held virtually on March from 5:30-7:30 pm. They will earn more points the further they go and the amount of days they are active. They can also earn points if they make a facebook post and tag our club on facebook. This is an individual, socially distanced, and completely virtual competition. We will hold a raffle for some running gear at the end using online software to fairly determine the winners based off the number of points they earned. The spreadsheet is based off the honor system and we will max out points for miles at 20 to prevent excess time devoted and those that run a lot.
