Wade, what it means to give power back to the state, and the professional ideologies surrounding pro-life and pro-choice. We will be using fact-based videos and professional guest speakers in hopes that our peers will take this information and make educated, and compassionate stances on the topic as future physicians. Who? Women's Health Club What? A Conversation about the Overturn of Roe V. Wade, 3 Guest Speakers, viewing of Dr. Francis' court approval of the overturn (5minutes). When? October 3rd @ 6pm Why? Our goal is to educate our peers so they can make informed stances as aspiring physicians. Event Plan: 1. Opening a. Women's Health club Eboard will present a brief PowerPoint i. Roe vs. Wade history ii. Timeline of trials regarding reproductive rights throughout history in America. iii. What are abortions? Medicated and procedural interventions iv. What has been your experience with abortions in health care? 2. What does physical therapy do for women after giving birth or having an abortion? 3. They asked for help setting up tables and tents outside, serving food, and helping with clean up during and after the event. We will have two groups of volunteers. One group will work from 7:30 to 9:30 am. The second group will work from 11:30 am- 1:30 pm. We have decided to open this up for only our members. For COVID precautions, we are asking all of our students to wear masks and to social distance as much as possible. For the food handling, we are asking all students to wash their hands, wear their masks, and wear gloves to minimize transmission. September 22, 2022 at 3:39 PMApprovedPatagonia Jacket SaleSOMA09/22/202210/01/2022Due to the success of the Patagonia sale on our campus last year, and after being approached by multiple students asking to have the sale again, LECOM Erie SOMA is looking to duplicate the Patagonia sale that took place last year. The Patagonia's allowed for custom embroidery and will feature the school crest logo (attached). Event will take place remotely (with pick up at the school), in Fall Semester. Remote Fundraiser - Pick Up location at school. A Google Form will be sent out as soon as this event is approved, and the sale will run through late October. The company we will be using is Thread fellows. Multiple types of Patagonia jackets will be offered, including vests, full zip jackets, and quarter zip jackets. Pick up will be COVID-safe in the LECOM cafeteria. People passing out jackets will be wearing masks and students picking up jackets will be required to wear masks.

The voter registration would take place from September 30th, October 3rd & October 4th during lunch in the cafeteria (we can also move it to another week) and we would like to host an event for students called, "Voting As a Medical Student." via Zoom on October 19th at 6PM. Medical students and medical professionals are expected to be leaders in their communities. Civic engagement is part of leadership. SNMA has partnered with an organization called Vot-ER, founded by an emergency physician at Mass General Hospital. They focus on creating a stronger healthcare system by empowering patients, healthcare providers, and health professional students to vote. This work is particularly important given the impact of COVID. They have created a badge backer that makes it easy to have a person register to vote on their own phone or request a mail-in ballot to vote at home this election cycle. The platform walks them through either process in 90 seconds or less. Now, as ever, civic engagement is crucial to protecting and improving the health of the patients and communities we serve. Vot-ER is a strictly nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. And it is the individual who chooses to engage and does so on their own device. We simply aim to provide the tools for individuals to be engaged with the system and have a chance to make their voice heard on issues that matter to them. This meeting will be focused around what is expected of medical students while they are rotating in orthopedics. I will have Dr. Bryan Anderson talking to the group about what he believes is important for medical students to know and do when they are on an orthopedic rotation to really stand out and make good impressions. Dr. Anderson is the Chief Resident under Dr. Tuck and has also given several of the MSK system lectures so his input is seen as being invaluable on what a resident is looking for a medical student to do to make a good impression during an orthopedic rotation. This is planned to be an in person meeting at Bethel Church at 6pm on 9/28/22. If this location is not available then this meeting will move to zoom at the same time and date COVID-19 Risk Control: While this is going to be held indoors the students will be asked to wear masks and there will be 4 people per table to insure that there is enough space between each student to minimize the risk.

Funding: No funding is necessary for this event. Covid Protocol: All attendees will be attending the event via zoom. Covid protocols of social distancing and hand sanitization will not be held in place. The general breakdown of the event will include a 15 minutes introduction from all of the physicians followed by a 30 minute Q&A. Each physician will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves during the first 15 minutes. They can discuss bread and butter cases, unique cases that appeared during practice, etc. During the 30 minute breakout room Q&A sessions, students may ask physicians specific specialty questions. Students will be able to move from breakout room to room. SGA board members will assist in leading the Q&A panels.

Phone number 814-452-3935) Since 1980, 8,839 newcomers have been resettled in the Erie area with assistance from USCRI. Refugees resettled in Erie come primarily from Bhutan, Eritrea, Somalia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, Iraq, Ukraine and Russia. Newly arrived refugees receive a comprehensive set of services including housing placement, cultural orientation, school enrollment, coordination of initial health appointments, and employment preparation and placement. I have reached out to Gretchen Fairly, Development Associate at USCRI and she said she would love to receive new or gently used donations to ensure that each refugee is provided with basic items that are essential to daily life. Some essential items she listed were first aid kits, thermometers, masks, diapers, and baby products. I have attached a full list of needed items to this form. I would love to have a donation box outside the security office where students could drop off essential items! Every item donated will count for 0.5 volunteer hours and students can receive up to a maximum of 3 volunteer hours. I would like to have the drive from September 19th - 28th to ensure enough time for students to get the essential items. The Class of 2025 student council board will collect all donated items and deliver them to the USCRI at a later date.

White coats will be collected in the cafeteria on September 19 and September 23 from 12-1pm for the Class of 2025, and September 26 and September 30 from 12-1pm for the Class of 2026. Coats will be returned to students ~3 weeks after collection dates. Existing LECOM COVID guidelines will be followed. Masks will be enforced in the cafeteria during drop off/pick up of white coats.

They have assigned our group to meet at the East Ave. Boat Ramp on East Ave., Erie, PA, 16507 Cleaning supplies are being provided by Erie County. COVID-19 Mitigation : This event will be outdoors and students will be provided with gloves to limit risk of infection from items picked up and working with others. Students will also be asked to wear masks while at this event.

The purpose of the presence of the LECOM students once a week at the Kid's Club, a site run by the YMCA off campus from LECOM, is to help mentor and facilitate personal growth in the children of the program. August 9, 2022 at 5:53 PMRejectedVolunteering at the Community Blood BankClass of 202508/09/202209/13/2022The Community Blood Bank in Erie is starting a new volunteer program in hopes of generating more follow up donations with the help their volunteers. After donating blood, the donors are sent to the refreshment area of the center or drive so that they can relax for 10 minutes and have a snack. Once the donor is done with their snacks, there are no other interactions with staff, and they leave. There is a very small chance they come back and donate again in 56 days which is the reason why the volunteer program was started. The community blood bank felt that the final step of the donation process was lacking and thought having volunteers greet donors in the refreshment area could greatly impact the donation process. The role of the volunteer will be to thank the donor for their donation, get feedback from the donor, and most important, ask the donor to schedule a follow up donation. A volunteer at the last part of the donation could make a huge difference in getting donors to return for another donation. Asking for a follow-up donation is the most crucial item, because more consistent donors mean a better blood supply. Students will be able to sign up for shifts well in advance and will receive volunteer hours for their participation. Every hour spent volunteering will count towards one volunteer hour. Depending on the blood bank's COVID Mask Rule, masks may be required for anyone volunteering on site.
