During their talk, they will introduce students to the potential career paths in radiology, speak about lifestyle, and what it is like to be a female in the field. The presentation will take place over zoom, and is anticipated to be about 1.5 hours.

This is a great opportunity to practice your BP taking skills and to encourage patients to do routine health monitoring, as a way to prevent and/or delay hypertension. Student volunteers should bring their own BP cuff and stethoscope. Educational resources for blood pressure reduction would be available for anyone interested. August 9, 2022 at 9:16 AMApprovedAnatomy Mock Practical 1ACOS-MSS08/09/202208/24/2022**This is just an amendment to the previous submission on July 20th. Dr. Kulesza just informed us that we will need to request lecture hall C so that PBL students can partake in a practice exam as well. ACOS will be working alongside Dr. Kulesza in setting up a mock practical, with both a written and oral component for all MS1s to help prepare for their first exam. We are opening up assistance in preparation for the mock exam to SSP so that MS2s can gain volunteer hours for their time. The written component will take place in the Cadaver lab while the oral will be held in the cafeteria. The following COVID-19 protocol will be strictly followed (if mandated at the time of the event): 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the clinic--both volunteers and attendees 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend the mock practical 3.) We will require masks, and uphold social distancing of at least 6 feet 4.) We will sanitize before and after the exam to avoid the potential spread of COVID 5.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending 7.) We will keep attendees in smaller groups by generating different start times for their exam

This will allow us to have approval in time to have a forum before the first practical on August 10th. We will meet every other Tuesday, but having all Tuesdays reserved will let us make changes in the our schedule depending on the practical schedule. Students will have the opportunity to practice and ask any questions they may have before the practicals that will be occurring the following day, Wednesdays, in class lab. Both will take place in the OPP lab at the LECOM-ERIE main building. The MS1 forum will take place from 5:30-6:30pm. Break will be from 6:30-7:00pm. The MS2 forum will follow from 7:00-8:00 pm. Times are subject to change, mainly the exlusion of a break between forums. All in attendance are required to be SAAO members and have their local and national dues paid.
July 25, 2022 at 1:24 PMExpiredInternal Medicine Club Annual Apparel SaleInternal Medicine Club07/25/202208/08/2022The Internal Medicine Club is hosting a fundraiser in which LECOM branded apparel will be available for purchase via a link provided by SportsLocker. The link will open for purchases on 8Aug and orders will be accepted through 22Aug. Payments are made through the Sportslocker store with a percentage returning to the IM Club. After all orders have been collected, they will be bulk shipped to campus, picked up by an IM Club Exec member, and distributed to purchasers in the cafeteria. Any items not distributed will be maintained by an IM Club Exec member until such a time as it can be successfully handed off. We have made no alterations to the previously approved apparel from last year’s sale. Tables will be offered in multiple colors. We are in discussion with a manufacturer for a possible group discount. Ordering of the table will be down over google forms.

The event will be held on campus back by the softball fields, weather pending. Each club will have a table and will be required to have board members present to give information about how to get involved and to answer questions regarding their clubs. The tables can either be rented or if LECOM has tables available for us to borrow, that would be preferred. We are also hoping to have a snack/small catered food option present for students to enjoy. Our current plan for this is ordering pizza from Virgil's Plate, which will come from our SGA funding. We hope this event can allow everyone to get information about the clubs and begin pursuing their interests early in the semester! Safety Measures: Vaccinated individuals can attend mask free given that the event is outdoors; unvaccinated will wear a mask and follow social distancing protocol

The event will be held on campus back by the softball fields, weather pending. In the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule the event. Each club will have a table and will be required to have board members present to give information about how to get involved and to answer questions regarding their clubs.The tables for each club will be rented from Crazy Monkey here in Erie.The cost is $7 per table x 25 tables = $175. We are also hoping to have pizza from Virgil's Plate, estimated $28 per 24 cut pizza x 10 pizzas = $280, and water which we will buy in bulk from Sam's club, estimated $10 per 80 pack of water bottles X 4 = $40. The funding from both of these will come from our SGA funding. We are also requesting garbage bins or a dumpster for any waste from the food to be disposed of, if LECOM is able to provide these. We hope this event can allow everyone to get information about the clubs and begin pursuing their interests early in the semester! Set-up: SGA board members will facilitate delivery and pick-up of tables and food. Board members for each club will be present and responsible for setting up their club table and decorating however they would like. Clean-up: SGA board and club board members will assist with clean up of tables and any garbage left behind. Safety Measures: Vaccinated individuals can attend mask free given that the event is outdoors; unvaccinated will wear a mask and follow social distancing protocol. Security officer will be present for entire time.

We polled students on what sort of events they would enjoy, and this was high on the list. We would provide TVs and Nintendo Switch consoles for students to hang out, play some games, and have some pizza. LECOM would provide the space for the event and pizza. I would need some further guidance on viable locations for the event, but even the cafeteria would be a functional location if there are no other suitable options. Overall budget would be $100 for pizza and water. Everything else is provided by students.

Between 1-3 MS1 students are matched with an MS2 mentor to help them throughout the school year. SOMA sends monthly check-ins with bigs and littles to assess how the program is going and to make improvements throughout the year. Contact between Bigs and Littles will be encouraged through Zoom, Skype, Facetime, phone calls, and E-mail. Any contact between Big/Littles will adhere to both CDC and LECOM Campus guidelines.

This virtual review will allow MMS students to focus their studies over the weekend for their tests on the following Mondays. These reviews will be virtual and held through either zoom or google meet. MMS students will be alerted through email (via the MMS Administrative Assistant) and their facebook group. This event will be completely virtual, and will follow all social distancing because of the virtual nature of the event, with no in-person assembly required.

We want to provide events for MS1s to interact with MS2s and create helpful relationships with their peers. Moving to Erie and starting at a new school can be difficult, and I want to help ease that transition with some fun, optional events to attend. We will be hosting it at the LECOM softball field. I will ask around for people who have bases/kickballs to borrow for the event. Otherwise, the cost of the event will be under $80. 2x kickball ~$20/ea = $40 Bases ~$15 Water for students = $20 Thank you, and please let me know if you have further questions about the event series.

There are other events that are planned for that week that Nevin told me he sent in a request for. The event would start around 530 and end by 7pm. The main goal of this event is to have a fun event where MS1s and MS2s can interact. I already emailed Brian King and he mentioned that the field is available to use as long as it gets approved. As far as Covid protocol, because the entirety of the event is outside there should be no need for any masking or social distancing.

The welcome back party will give incoming MS1 students the opportunity to meet the faculty as well as MS2. For the MS2, it will be provide an opportunity to catch up with peers and faculty. We would like to support the local Erie businesses and will have 1 food trucks and 1 ice cream truck from local vendors. We will have outdoor games such as cornhole, large 4 in a row, and large jenga. We would also like to provide tables where people can sit and eat. We can either rent them or if LECOM has tables we can use that would be ideal.
