The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects from spiritual darkness. The event would be held most likely at Hammocks clubhouse. There will be traditional indian snacks, music, and activities to symbolize the holiday. COVID Mitigation plan: 1. All participants will be required to wear masks 2. When eating people will be required to remain 6 feet away when taking off their masks 3. If people do not feel well or feel like they have a fever they will be requested not to come. 4. There will be an attendance sheet in place for people to sign in, in a case that contact tracing would be required. Veronica Li will be the contact person for the set up and tear down the the event. Dr. Razzaque has been contacted to attend the event. Since this is a public clubhouse for Hammocks residents, no confirmation is needed to book the area since it's a public space that rarely ever occupied. There will be light refreshments and snacks so nothing significant is happening to require any proper reservation of the area.

He also recently switched from trying to match into a Radiology residency into Dermatology, so he was going to speak about this change and information about audition rotations. We will also have an open Q&A with him afterwards for students that have questions about rotations and the change in Step 1/COMLEX 1 becoming pass/fail.
	September 6, 2022 at 10:59 AM	Approved	Stop the Bleed	Emergency Medicine	09/06/2022	10/19/2022	The purpose of the STOP THE BLEED® campaign is to make our nation more resilient by better preparing the public to save lives if people nearby are severely bleeding. This preparation is being done by raising awareness and teaching people how to learn three quick actions to control serious bleeding. The EM Club advisor, Dr. Risavi, will be giving this training to students. We will have a sign up sheet and cap the limited number of participants at 45 to adhere to the capacity of Kearsarge. We also will require masks at the event to maintain COVID safety. This event will take place on October 19th from 6-8 PM.

This event will be given via Zoom by Dr. Elizabeth Zona. She is an addiction medicine specialist who was recommended to us by one of our MMS students! Some example topics that will be covered are: -her background and why she chose to pursue Addiction Med -current fellowship programs available and their general curriculum -the Neurobiology of Addiction -her average work day -potential practice options (inpatient vs outpatient models). Given that one of SOMA's pillars is to educate on opioid use and addiction in general, we thought this would be a good topic to have a presentation on! We will send out a sign up sheet, Zoom link, and form to submit questions for Dr. Zona as soon as this event is approved. The event will be via Zoom on 10/18 (already checked and coordinated with MMS, MS1, and MS2 exam schedules) from 6-7:30PM. Dr. Thielman and Dr. Lee have already consulted and agreed to this event.

The event will allow students to gain insight into some helpful tips. The event will be on October 17th from 6 PM – 7 PM. The three MS3 students that have been selected are Ronnie Lott, Sam Wlasowicz, and Jayleen Everett. The selected students have been approved by Dr.Kalmey. A google form will be provided ahead of time for students to submit any questions they want to ask the presenters. This will be a great event for students to gain some insight from peers that very recently went through the process.

We have already contacted Patagonia directly and we are just waiting for LECOM's approval before we move forward with them. We have about 20 students already interested in purchasing the jackets and that is from just our club alone. The main point of contact for this fundraiser will be Asfia Qureshi. The items selected for the event were voted on by the student body in a google form that was sent out in August. Items: 1. Pins for white coat 2. Pocket Medicine Book for Rotations 3. Skincare face mask 4. Sports Drinks 5. Scrub Caps 6. Retractable badges 7. Reusable Water bottles We will also give out snacks that were left over from our Welcome Fair. Prior Planning: Anthony Dicecca and Khin Oo will purchase/ order the items. Set up: SGA Board - Khin Oo, Anthony Dicecca, Tyler Dobratz, Serene Bahi, Ananya Koka, William Kim, and Abhay Dhillon will set up items in the Vora lounge at 11:30 am. All items are individually wrapped for COVID safety. Students will be able to come into the Vora lounge from 11:30 am - 1: 00 pm to choose their items (Maintaining social distancing and room capacity rules). Clean up at 1:00 pm. SGA Board - Khin Oo, Anthony Dicecca, Tyler Dobratz, Serene Bahi, Ananya Koka, William Kim, and Abhay Dhillon will clean up items and organize the room.

Event Description: Part I: Dr. Sabirov and Dr. Coughlin will present a cardio/pulmonary case using a high-fidelity training mannequin. The case presentation will include prompts for students to take part in diagnosing and managing an emergent cardiology patient. Part II: Students will break off into groups of 5 and rotate through 4 task-trainer stations: a. Trans-thoracic echocardiogram b. CPR c. Med draw w/ IV administration d. Central line placement We would plan on two groups of 20 students, the first group coming at 6p and the second at 7p. COVID Mitigation Plan: All students attest to the absence of symptoms and/or exposure to COVID-19 prior to the event via online submission. All LECOM precautions will remain in place including temperature screening, face masks, and proper hand-hygiene. All training equipment will be properly sanitized before and after each student.

The bingo night will be held in the gymnasium at the Bethel Baptist Church across the street from LECOM. The bingo sheets we plan on using are attached below.

All three are LECOM alumni/students: Kent Axcell (current MS4 and former radiology club president), Dr. Henry Wei (current resident at AHN), and Dr. Olivia Hallas (current resident at Cleveland Clinic). The goal is to have the speakers talk about why radiology may or may not be a good fit for you, and how to prepare for rotations and residency. Since the speakers have gone through the residency application process fairly recently, it should be a good opportunity to learn about what to expect from a first-hand account. The event will be over zoom and last no more than one hour.

We are utilizing the same design and logo that was approved for last year's jacket sale. I will inform the students of our fundraiser by sending out an email to our members, as well as posting in the class communication pages in case any student outside of ACOS is interested. The board will then disperse jackets out during a future meeting, lunch in the cafeteria, or offer shipping through the manufacturer. During the distribution of the jackets, the following COVID guidelines will be followed: 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has ordered a jacket 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who pick up their jackets in person. 3.) We will require masks during distribution/pick-up 4.) We will sanitize the table before and after to avoid the potential spread of COVID 5.) We will divide the pickup time by last name to ensure there is no overcrowding, resulting in minimal exposure

Wade, what it means to give power back to the state, and the professional ideologies surrounding pro-life and pro-choice. We will be using fact-based videos and professional guest speakers in hopes that our peers will take this information and make educated, and compassionate stances on the topic as future physicians. Who? Women's Health Club What? A Conversation about the Overturn of Roe V. Wade, 3 Guest Speakers, viewing of Dr. Francis' court approval of the overturn (5minutes). When? October 3rd @ 6pm Why? Our goal is to educate our peers so they can make informed stances as aspiring physicians. Event Plan: 1. Opening a. Women's Health club Eboard will present a brief PowerPoint i. Roe vs. Wade history ii. Timeline of trials regarding reproductive rights throughout history in America. iii. What are abortions? Medicated and procedural interventions iv. Why do women seek abortion care? Are there alternatives? 2. Recent Changes a. Crime Victims Center Erie - Amy Blackburn 1. What has been your experience with abortions in crime victim care? 2. How does the overturn of Roe V. Wade affect victims and their healing process? 3. Do you have any concerns regarding the outlawing of abortion? Are there alternatives? iii. UPMC Women’s Physical Therapist Perspective: Jackie Berry 1. What has been your experience with abortions in health care? 2. What does physical therapy do for women after giving birth or having an abortion? 3. What harm, if any, does outlawing abortion play in the physical health of women? 4. In states that restrict abortion laws, how will this affect your patients? b. Q & A with the professionals. We believe hosting the event via zoom will help to regulate emotions regarding the topic, and provide control over the conversation. • Moderator: Dr. Speelman will be present to alleviate any tension and provide a faculty presence • Introduction: members of the WHC will introduce each speaker and transition the floor to them before they present. • Muted members: each viewer will be muted Students will be able to ask questions by stating their name, year, and question in the chat box on zoom for the professionals to answer.

They asked for help setting up tables and tents outside, serving food, and helping with clean up during and after the event. We will have two groups of volunteers. One group will work from 7:30 to 9:30 am. The second group will work from 11:30 am- 1:30 pm. We have decided to open this up for only our members. For COVID precautions, we are asking all of our students to wear masks and to social distance as much as possible. For the food handling, we are asking all students to wash their hands, wear their masks, and wear gloves to minimize transmission. 	September 22, 2022 at 3:39 PM	Approved	Patagonia Jacket Sale	SOMA	09/22/2022	10/01/2022	Due to the success of the Patagonia sale on our campus last year, and after being approached by multiple students asking to have the sale again, LECOM Erie SOMA is looking to duplicate the Patagonia sale that took place last year. The Patagonia's allowed for custom embroidery and will feature the school crest logo (attached). Event will take place remotely (with pick up at the school), in Fall Semester. Remote Fundraiser - Pick Up location at school. A Google Form will be sent out as soon as this event is approved, and the sale will run through late October. The company we will be using is Thread fellows. Multiple types of Patagonia jackets will be offered, including vests, full zip jackets, and quarter zip jackets. Pick up will be COVID-safe in the LECOM cafeteria. People passing out jackets will be wearing masks and students picking up jackets will be required to wear masks.

The voter registration would take place from September 30th, October 3rd & October 4th during lunch in the cafeteria (we can also move it to another week) and we would like to host an event for students called, "Voting As a Medical Student." via Zoom on October 19th at 6PM. Medical students and medical professionals are expected to be leaders in their communities. Civic engagement is part of leadership. SNMA has partnered with an organization called Vot-ER, founded by an emergency physician at Mass General Hospital. They focus on creating a stronger healthcare system by empowering patients, healthcare providers, and health professional students to vote. This work is particularly important given the impact of COVID. They have created a badge backer that makes it easy to have a person register to vote on their own phone or request a mail-in ballot to vote at home this election cycle. The platform walks them through either process in 90 seconds or less. Now, as ever, civic engagement is crucial to protecting and improving the health of the patients and communities we serve. Vot-ER is a strictly nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. And it is the individual who chooses to engage and does so on their own device. We simply aim to provide the tools for individuals to be engaged with the system and have a chance to make their voice heard on issues that matter to them. This meeting will be focused around what is expected of medical students while they are rotating in orthopedics. I will have Dr. Bryan Anderson talking to the group about what he believes is important for medical students to know and do when they are on an orthopedic rotation to really stand out and make good impressions. Dr. Anderson is the Chief Resident under Dr. Tuck and has also given several of the MSK system lectures so his input is seen as being invaluable on what a resident is looking for a medical student to do to make a good impression during an orthopedic rotation. This is planned to be an in person meeting at Bethel Church at 6pm on 9/28/22. If this location is not available then this meeting will move to zoom at the same time and date COVID-19 Risk Control: While this is going to be held indoors the students will be asked to wear masks and there will be 4 people per table to insure that there is enough space between each student to minimize the risk.

Location: Zoom: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89143354226?pwd=M3lUZUpFV2NmNERIazdNVmFMNUlEUT09 Dr. Joseph Rowane, Dr. D'amico, and Dr. Wismer will be speaking about their specialties (Pulmonology, Cardiology, and Gastroenterology). Purpose: To provide an opportunity for LECOM MS1s and MS2s to hear from physicians about their specialties directly. The event is open to all LECOM students. Funding: No funding is necessary for this event. Covid Protocol: All attendees will be attending the event via zoom. Covid protocols of social distancing and hand sanitization will not be held in place. The general breakdown of the event will include a 15 minutes introduction from all of the physicians followed by a 30 minute Q&A. Each physician will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves during the first 15 minutes. They can discuss bread and butter cases, unique cases that appeared during practice, etc. During the 30 minute breakout room Q&A sessions, students may ask physicians specific specialty questions. Students will be able to move from breakout room to room. SGA board members will assist in leading the Q&A panels.
