Purpose: To provide an opportunity for LECOM MS1s and MS2s to hear from physicians about their specialties directly. The event is open to all LECOM students. Funding: No funding is necessary for this event. Covid Protocol: All attendees will be attending the event via zoom. Covid protocols of social distancing and hand sanitization will not be held in place. The general breakdown of the event will include a 15 minutes introduction from all of the physicians followed by a 30 minute Q&A. Each physician will have 5 minutes to introduce themselves during the first 15 minutes. They can discuss bread and butter cases, unique cases that appeared during practice, etc. During the 30 minute breakout room Q&A sessions, students may ask physicians specific specialty questions. Students will be able to move from breakout room to room. SGA board members will assist in leading the Q&A panels.

As the winter is approaching, there is a great need for items that provide warmth as well as medications. The following supplies will be collected: hand warmers, foot warmers, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, thermals, gauze bandages, first aid kits, vitamin C, and cold medication. A collection box will be set up in the security office. 	September 2, 2022 at 9:56 AM	Approved	Naloxone Training	SOMA	09/02/2022	11/07/2022	Proposed date: Monday, November 7 th , 2022 from 6-7PM Idea: SOMA’s OPTF will be hosting a Naloxone Training that will be lead by Mili Patel, the Opioid Task Force Director. The session will be a one-hour presentation that will discuss introduction to opioids, history of the opioid epidemic, and the current overdose statistics in the United States. Those who attend the event will be able to respond to an opioid-related overdose with naloxone. Following the event, all participants will receive a certificate of participation and information on how to obtain Naloxone through NEXT Distro. The certificate will be associated with Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA). By the time of this training session, I will have completed the Naloxone Trainer course through Overdose Lifeline, Inc. and I will be certified to provide Naloxone Training sessions to students. This training will be through Zoom as part of our COVID mitigation plan. As medical students, it is imperative to advance our education and learn about the various substance use treatment services that are available to us. Through this training, we, as medical students, can take action to fight the growing opioid epidemic in the United States. It will also allow students to ask any questions that they may have regarding this issue.

One aspect of their care is a Wig & Beauty Salon. They have plenty of wonderful wigs, but lack in the 'beauty' side of make-up and skin care patients. We are planning on gathering supplies to help these oncology patients dealing with hair and skin problems. As for the products gathered, I have this baseline from the clinic: "It seems that the makeup line that would be best is NYX. They are vegan-free and priced fair compared to some of the other brands. For lotions and such, Neutrogena is recommended. Both brands are sold at Ulta. The products we would like to have on hand are face soap/cleaners, face lotion, foundation, powder, blush, eye shadows, eye liners, brow pencils or temp tattoos, lip balms/sticks. Because we have women of all colors, a variety would be great. We don’t expect you to get everything, but any donation of these products would be most helpful as we stock the ‘beauty’ portion of our Wig & Beauty Salon. We are most appreciative of your willingness to help. We would be happy to provide a tax receipt to you if you give us a value on what you’ve donated since we are a non-profit." The drive would run from November 7th to November 14th. Every item donated will count as 0.5 hours for a maximum of 3 hours (as per previous events).

Discuss and demonstrate basic interventions. Provide hands-on practical experience in a safe and positive learning environment. Event Description: Part I: Dr. Sabirov and Dr. Coughlin will present a cardio/pulmonary case using a high-fidelity training mannequin. The case presentation will include prompts for students to take part in diagnosing and managing an emergent cardiology patient. Part II: Students will break off into groups of 4 and rotate through 4 task-trainer stations: a. Trans-thoracic echocardiogram b. CPR c. Med draw w/ IV administration d. Central line placement We would plan on three groups of 16 students: Group 1: 4:30pm-5:15pm Group 2: 5:30pm-6:15pm Group 3: 6:30pm-7:15pm COVID Mitigation Plan: All students attest to the absence of symptoms and/or exposure to COVID-19 prior to the event via online submission. All LECOM precautions will remain in place including temperature screening, face masks, and proper hand-hygiene. All training equipment will be properly sanitized before and after each student.

The event is Be the Match. In summary, there will be a representative from Be the Match that presents to LECOM's campus. SOMA will be distributing self-swab kits to students that sign up, and the envelopes will be sealed and taken to the appropriate destination by the Be the Match Representative. We would like to collaborate in a friendly competition-like fashion with Seton Hill and Bradenton based on whichever chapter gets the most sign ups. Each campus will conduct the Be the Match event on their campus during lunch (11:30- 1:00 on the Erie campus) from November 1st-November 3rd. Who: this will be open to all students, staff, and faculty who wish to participate What: Be the Match, with SOMA from Erie, Seton Hill, and Bradenton When: November 1st-3rd during lunch (11:30am-1:00pm) Where: LECOM Erie Campus- Vora Lounge COVID protocol: All students will be required to wear masks, as is LECOM's policy. There will be a designated area for one student at a time to remove their mask to swab their cheeks, and then replace their mask before leaving the area.

The event is held outside the Erie Zoo and volunteers can sign up for whichever tasks most appeal to them: crafts, concession stands, distributing candy, controlling crowds, wearing costumes, etc. There is no prior training needed! The dates for 2022 are Wednesdays and Saturdays between 10/12-10/29. Possible dates that students can decide to volunteer at include: 10/12 (6-9PM) 10/15 (12-9PM) 10/19 (6-9PM) 10/22 (12-9PM) 10/26 (6-9PM) 10/29 (12-9PM) Once students apply and are assigned a role, they will be able to select a date and time frame that works for them. In order to simplify tracking hours, this event is only open to LECOM pediatrics club members. We are having members sign up if they are interested; they will then record the day(s) they attended Zoo Boo and the hours volunteered. Several reminders will be sent to members to ensure that this information is recorded properly. We will be joined by our speaker Kyabeth Torres-Rodriguez, a PhD candidate at the University of Pennsylvania, who will present her research on “The role of the MYCN oncogene in inducing immune evasion in neuroblastoma.” Academic Purpose: With the ever-changing advancements in scientific research, it's important as medical students to stay engaged in developing research topics; however, many may feel overwhelmed by the complexity of cancer research. We hope to give our student body an opportunity to explore a particular research topic and aim to spark interest in cancer research as a whole.
	September 26, 2022 at 1:52 PM	Approved	Decompression Session: Painting and a Discussion on Barriers to Mental Health Care	Mental Health Task Force	09/26/2022	10/27/2022	This will be a painting session with a discussion on barriers to mental health care hosted by the SGA Mental Health Task Force that seeks to act as a place to decompress and engage in a hobby as stress relief practice, as well as a space to discuss mental health in medical students. Dr. Melanie Dunbar will be present for the duration of the meeting as a facilitator along with the members of the mental health task force. We know that medical students are more likely to live with depression, anxiety, and mood disorders (Maser et al., 2019), and that having discussions about our experiences works to destigmatize and reduce stress around seeking treatment (Hankier et al., 2014). An additional reason to have the coinciding painting session will give students a physical activity to focus on to make students feel more comfortable contributing to the discussion and sitting through silent periods. We will discuss different barriers that one might encounter to seeking mental health care, including cultural, geographical, financial, and other societal barriers. We will discuss stigma around mental health illness and treatments, including medications, and ways we can work to break down those stigmas. This will not be a therapy session, it will be a discussion on the difficulties medical students face and the associated stigma and barriers to mental health care. It will also be a place to remind students of the resources and support that they have available to them. This session will be held October 27th at 6pm in the Vora lounge. An RSVP form will be created to determine how many materials to purchase for the event. Materials will be purchased in bulk off Amazon, and unused materials will be saved for a future Goody bag event. Plastic tablecloths will be purchased to protect the tables, the paint will be washable for easy removal, and cleaning materials will be purchased to ensure that the lounge is left spotless after our session. Students at LECOM will be donating non-perishable food items in a contactless manner. Food items to be collected include canned goods, pasta, and water. Donations will be collected by Health Disparities director Austen Rankin and dropped off at Second Harvest Food Bank in time for Thanksgiving. This drive will run from October 24- November 4th with a box left in the security office for donations. Community Outreach Directors Sam Teru and Paarth Sharma will be assisting in picking up the food several times so that food will not accumulate and crowd the security office. A sign-up sheet will be sent out prior to the event to specify what goods are needed to be donated. This event has been successful in the past years that it has been done, and we anticipate it being another success. Community service hours will be awarded, 0.5 hours per two items, for a maximum of 3 hours.
	September 19, 2022 at 6:23 PM	Expired	Mentorship Seminar and Skills Clinic with Dr. Marcin Jankowski	ACOS-MSS	09/19/2022	10/21/2022	Dr. Marcin Jankowski, a Trauma surgeon based in Newark, Delaware would like to offer mentorship advice and skills training to our medical students. The previous board members, Max and Ashton, and I have developed a good relationship with the surgeon and his wife (a urologist; however, she cannot attend due to her schedule) and he would love to visit Erie to teach our aspiring surgeons. Drs. Marcin and Meredith Jankowski visited campus last Spring and the event was a huge success with the student body. The outline is as follows: October 21st from 6pm-7pm: Forum led by Dr. Jankowski discussing seeking mentorship as a medical student with an open Q/A following. This portion would take place in lecture hall D, and we would ideally like to open the event to the student body as this topic would greatly benefit everyone—not just members of surgery club. October 22nd from 10am-1:30pm: Educational discussion regarding OR etiquette for 30 minutes in Lecture Hall D. Following this, we would hold a two-part skills training session; a FAST ultrasound exam (lecture hall D) and suturing clinic (Microbiology lab) that the students will rotate between. This event is nearly identical to the event held in the spring which was approved by the administration, aside from opening the Friday forum up to the general student body and focusing on suturing instead of central line placement. I have attached Dr. Jankowski's CV to this event request. Furthermore, here are the COVID protocols that I ensure are upheld at all ACOS events: 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the clinic 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend the suturing clinic 3.) We will require masks, and uphold social distancing of at least 6 feet 4.) We will sanitize before and after the suturing clinic and mentorship discussion to avoid the potential spread of COVID 5.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending The educational purpose of this event is to expose students to the importance of mentorship in medicine and teach critical skills needed for rotations and beyond. Dr. Jankowski is a very well-distinguished Trauma surgeon that can teach many clinical skills—however, he has chosen to focus on the FAST Ultrasound Exam and suturing for this event. He will be bringing an ultrasound device and professional training mannequin to teach us this skill.

Some of the topics we plan to cover are: -Pay difference with military vs civilian, in residency and later. -Military match vs civilian match, in terms of how competitive they each are for different specialties. -Military residency vs civilian residency, regarding degree of training, is one better than the other? -Overview of what a GMO is, pros and cons to that path, and differences in their usage in each branch. -Q/A time, eBoard to come with prepared questions to supplement. -Clinical cases as time allows. Guest Speakers: Bryan G. Anderson, DO, MHSA; Eric Goodrich D.O., MSMEd COVID Protocols: All attendees will wear masks (3-ply or greater) unless presenting while remaining greater than 6 feet away from others. All attendees will have their temperature checked at the entrance to the Main Campus. Per LECOM guidance all students will continue to complete daily symptom checklist found on the portal. Presenters will be contacted and given the portal symptom checklist the day prior to the event. If any answers are positive, Dr. Shabloski will be notified. Attendees will sit in every other seat in the lecture hall to ensure social distancing. Attendance will be taken for possible contact tracing purposes.
