Medical school can often be a high-stress environment, and this event is designed to provide an opportunity for students and faculty to step away from the classroom and clinical responsibilities, connect with one another, and enjoy lighthearted activities together. First years can celebrate the end of Anatomy, and second year LDP and DSP students can celebrate the end of their Cardiovascular unit through a variety of fun, team-based games such as tug of war, relay races, and even pumpkin painting and “pie the professor.” Each participating LECOM club will host an activity, allowing for broad student engagement and meaningful faculty participation. By encouraging collaboration, laughter, and friendly competition, this Field Day will strengthen bonds across our campus community, promote student wellness, and create lasting positive memories that enrich the medical school experience. Will be using a grill to grill food.August 25, 2025 at 2:43 PMExpiredHands of the Future - Vector Release WorkshopSOMA08/25/202509/19/2025SOMA will be hosting an opportunity for student members to gain the "Hands of the Future" by attending a workshop on Dynamic Strain & Vector Release, a technique created by one of our own - Dr. Hendryx. I believe this event offers a valuable opportunity for our club members to come together in support of the greater Erie community. It also serves to raise awareness and educate the public about Huntington’s disease, a complex neurodegenerative condition that we’ve heavily focused upon in our neuroanatomy courses. Through what we’ve learned, we’ve deepened our understanding of the challenges faced not only by patients, but by their families as well. Through this event, we hope to extend our support to those in the Erie community and show that they’re not alone in their efforts. The fundraiser walk will take place on Saturday September 27, 2025 and will be located at Presque Isle State Park, Beach 1. Volunteers will help with set-up, basket raffles, registration, advocacy efforts, cheering on walk/run participants, and clean up. The volunteering period will span from 6:30AM to 12PM, with each volunteer working a minimum of 2 hour shifts.August 19, 2025 at 4:39 PMRejectedNAMIWalks Fundraiser EventNeuropsych Club08/19/202509/14/2025Abigale Shick, Events and Fundraising Coordinator at NAMI of Erie County, recently inquired if LECOM’s NeuroPsych Club could provide some volunteer support for the yearly NAMIWalks fundraiser event, in addition to having students participating in the walk themselves. The Sight Center of Northwest PA sorts through the glasses and decides which ones to keep for distribution to people in the community, then they outsource the rest of the donated glasses to other organizations such as the Lions Club international and others. I am in contact with Pam Masi from the Sight Center. Her email is pamm@sightcenternwpa.org. We will empty the bin at the end of each day to ensure it does not get too full. the intention is also to have students earn service hours for donating (1 service hour for 2 items, with a maximum of 2 hours able to be earned). After the week of collection, we will deliver the donated glasses to the Sight Center. Dr. Chris Buzas is the advisor for the club, however he is still not listed under the club advisor drop down menu. I have submitted another support request for this.
