Cards will be made by students to bring joy to residents, so these cards will include writing from students. Students will make or fill out cards to be distributed to SLC Residents. This will be a contactless event, and we propose having collection boxes near the security doors. Students will be able to leave their cards for collection. Cards will be picked up at the end of the drive by Paarth Sharma or Co-Chair Smaran Teru. We will advertise this event to the entire Class of 2025 and class of 2026, so they are able to participate. Cards should be dropped off at the security office or at Colleen's desk on the second floor. This will be done in a contact-free manner. As has been done in other clubs, service hours will be provided with 3 cards = 1 hour of service. Cards will be dropped off at the LECOM Living Center - coordinated with Emily Carver - ecarver@lecomslc.org. Why: SOMA wants to create a COVID-safe opportunity for students to get involved in the Erie community. Having this card drive creates an event that allows LECOM students to reach out and be involved with the school and community. Dr. Jung will be detailing his path to becoming a surgeon, describing his residency and clinical experience, and permitting an open Q/A session so students can become more familiar with the field. Dr. Chludzinski will be present at this event. Furthermore, here are the COVID protocols that I ensure are upheld at all ACOS events: 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the clinic 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend the suturing clinic 3.) We will require masks, and uphold social distancing of at least 6 feet 4.) We will sanitize before and after the suturing clinic and mentorship discussion to avoid the potential spread of COVID 5.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending

November 7, 2022 at 9:28 AMExpiredACOS: Suturing Clinic SeriesACOS-MSS11/07/202212/02/2022ACOS-MSS would like to provide the opportunity for interested students to continue strengthening their suturing skills while ensuring that all COVID protocols are thoroughly followed. Students will be using a Medarchitect suture kit that we annually provide for our members. The kit includes a silicone pad, curved mosquito forceps, Hecar needle holder, Adson forceps, surgical scissors, scalpel handle w/ blades, and a variety of suturing materials. Students will not be using a scalpel at any point during the workshop. A Sharp’s container will be present to collect disposed suturing needles. Additionally, I will ensure that a first aid kit is available in case any needle poke injuries occur. **Dr. Falk is looking into getting pig's feet for the event but this is not finalized yet, so we will be planning on using the suturing pads. If pig's feet are available, we will have disposable placemats and disinfecting wipes to thoroughly clean the lab tables afterward**. The event details are as follows: December 2nd from 5pm-7:30pm: Suturing clinic (Microbiology lab) led by Dr. Chludzinski with the assistance of Dr. Falk and additional faculty. The event will allow students to gain insight into some helpful tips. The event will be on November 17th from 7 PM – 8 PM. The MS3 students that have been selected are listed below. A google form will be provided ahead of time for students to submit any questions they want to ask the presenters. This will be a great event for students to gain some insight from peers that very recently went through the process.

WHO: YogaErie Instructors and LECOM students WHAT: A 60 minute yoga class; $10/ student. All funds will go to Lydia's Love Moments to raise money for children at Ronald McDonald's House. WHERE: LECOM Wellness Center Gymnasium. All yogies will be positioned 6 feet apart and be instructed to bring their own mat or towel. All students will check in and sign a liability waiver if not a member already prior to class beginning, wearing a mask. Once on the mat and ready to start class 6 feet apart, they will be allowed to remove their mask for the duration of the workout. Once class is over, masks will be put back on promptly. WHEN: Saturday, December 3 at 9:30-10:30am WHY: As DO medical students, we know how important it is to exercise and keep our hearts healthy. While raising money for children in need of healthcare, we thought this would be a great way to get actively involved in our fundraiser while also benefitting our student body. Yoga Erie has graciously offered us a class and we feel it would form a great relationship between YogaErie and LECOM while helping support a beautiful cause. We feel that hosting an event at our own location would be easy and convenient for LECOM students, and a great way to utilize our facilities. If there is an issue with hosting at lecom wellness center, we will look into having the event at YogaErie's studio. Thank you!

She did her medical schooling at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her Internal Medicine residency at The Ohio State University. She will speak about how to match into a successful top residency program and her experience being a cardiology fellow. Dr. Jasneet is also currently applying for an electrophysiology fellowship, so she will speak about that as well. This event will be happening on zoom (link to be made). The baskets will include a finals relaxation basket full of skin care, lotions, and relaxation serums, a Sheetz gas gift-card gas basket, and a finals snack basket. We will sell tickets for these baskets in the LECOM cafeteria from 11am-1pm throughout the week of November 14th-18th. Women's Health Club board members will sell the tickets. We will collect cash as the only form of payment. We will draw winners for each basket on Friday November 18th. We will sell 1 ticket for 5$, and 3 tickets for 10$. We will offer volunteer hours to students that buy auction tickets. Students can receive a half hour of volunteer time for purchasing 3 tickets (10$). We will donate all the money we make from this action towards Lydia's Love Moments. This is a nonprofit organization founded by Kim Ghirardi that raises money for The RonaldMcDonald House in Pittsburgh, PA and Emily Rose Photography. Kim started this organization when she gave birth to her daughter, Lydia, who suffered from a congenital heart defect and required an extended hospital stay while fighting for her life. While her daughter endured an extended stay at Pittsburgh Children's Hospital, Kim received housing from The RonaldMcDonald House. Emily Rose Photography is a company that provides a photoshoot session of newborn babies that are undergoing treatment at the hospital who may not survive much longer. The Women's Health Club is excited to donate money to Lydia's Love Moments who then donates to these charities. In addition to the Chinese Auction, we will host Kim Ghirardi, the founder of Lydia's Love Moments, on November 14th 2022 on Zoom to invite club members to hear from Kim about how and why she started this organization and why she aspires to continue giving back to the organizations that impacted her life. The Zoom meeting will run from 7:30-8:30. We will send out a zoom link for this event on November 7th. Our advisor, Dr. Speelman, will attend the zoom event.

One aspect of their care is a Wig & Beauty Salon. They have plenty of wonderful wigs, but lack in the 'beauty' side of make-up and skin care patients. We are planning on gathering supplies to help these oncology patients dealing with hair and skin problems. As for the products gathered, I have this baseline from the clinic: "It seems that the makeup line that would be best is NYX. They are vegan-free and priced fair compared to some of the other brands. For lotions and such, Neutrogena is recommended. Both brands are sold at Ulta. The products we would like to have on hand are face soap/cleaners, face lotion, foundation, powder, blush, eye shadows, eye liners, brow pencils or temp tattoos, lip balms/sticks. Because we have women of all colors, a variety would be great. We don’t expect you to get everything, but any donation of these products would be most helpful as we stock the ‘beauty’ portion of our Wig & Beauty Salon. We are most appreciative of your willingness to help. We would be happy to provide a tax receipt to you if you give us a value on what you’ve donated since we are a non-profit." The drive would run from November 7th to November 14th. Every item donated will count as 0.5 hours for a maximum of 3 hours (as per previous events).
