After December 12th, Katie Karnes & Cinnamon Kiser will take the donated items to Second Harvest Food Bank.

We ask that the toy collection point be in the main entrance lobby at the north entrance. We will have a basket set up to collect the toys and will empty it each night to prevent build up.
November 11, 2025 at 4:43 PMApprovedPBL Breakfast @ BayfrontMental Health Task Force11/11/202512/05/2025The Mental Health Task Force would like to request permission to host a PBL Breakfast for first- and second-year students at the Bayfront campus on December 5th from 9-11 am. The event would take place in the Bayfront cafeteria on a table (that the task force will bring) along the righthand wall in front of the Coca-Cola display case and will include pre-packaged breakfast items such as muffins, granola bars, and Pop-Tarts. A Mental Health Task Force member and a faculty member, Dr. Waters, will be present for the entire event to make sure everything goes smoothly. This event is intended to support student wellbeing during a period of increased academic stress, as PBL students are currently approaching finals. Many students have limited time in the morning to prepare or eat breakfast, and providing convenient, individually packaged food options encourages proper nourishment, allows for a brief study break, and fosters positive peer interaction. We believe this event will promote community support, reduce stress, and reinforce healthy habits during a demanding time in the semester.

The plan is to have 2 donation boxes (1 labeled Army and 1 labeled Navy) set up in the entrance way of the North Entrance. The idea is for students to vote on who they think/want to win the game that will take place on Saturday Dec 13th.

LECOM students work extremely hard during this time of the year and sometimes a little pick me up after a long 8am-5pm day is exactly what you need to recharge. To show appreciation for the hard work our classmates put into their studies, NeuroPsych and several parterning clubs will be providing cookies and other treats during the MS2 lunch hour on Thursday, December 4th. We will be sure to provide both gluten-free and nut-free options for those with intolerances and allergies. The following clubs have generously contributed in hopes of making this event flourish even more: - SGA - Anesthesiology Club - Orthopedics Club - Surgery Club - APAMSA More clubs may be joining as well as the date approaches!

During the MS2 lunch hour, the two clubs plan to purchase and upsell bubble tea from the SobaEra_Tsaocaa restaurant. Depending on their inventory, 30-40 bubble teas will be sold. The clubs will split the proceeds made at the end of the day. This fundraiser event will occur on Friday, December 5th.
November 18, 2025 at 11:40 AMApprovedAnnual AHN St. Vincent–LECOM Sim DayEmergency Medicine11/18/202501/23/2026The St. Vincent Emergency Medicine attendings and residents will be hosting a comprehensive EM Skills Clinic on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 6–8 PM at McGarvey Hall, St. Vincent Hospital. This workshop will be led by Dr. Irtaza Asar, the current Emergency Medicine Clerkship Director at St. Vincent. Throughout the evening, students will receive guided, hands-on instruction in several essential emergency medicine procedures. Training will include performing FAST and basic cardiac ultrasound exams, practicing ultrasound-guided central line placement, working through both direct and Glidescope intubations, and gaining experience with lumbar punctures. This clinic is designed to help students build confidence with high-yield procedural skills that will be invaluable during clinical rotations and future practice. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students who wish to participate, ensuring adequate time and access to each station. We are excited to offer this opportunity and encourage all interested students to take part in this exceptional hands-on experience.
November 19, 2025 at 1:33 PMApprovedRadiology Quick Review Guide FundraiserRadiology Club11/19/202512/05/2025The LECOM Radiology Club has worked with Dr. Kulesza to create a comprehensive, systems stratified, booklet of pathologies with characteristics identifiable on radiologic imaging. The target audience is both MS1 and MS2 classes for use when studying systems and board review. The booklet was inspired by Dr. Kulesza's Clinical Supplement and highlights key signs, buzzwords and modalities for specific pathologies that are covered in the LECOM curriculum. All images are adapted from Radiopaedia.org, with appropriate citations and Radiopaedia IDs to help students view the case in a full-definition. Radiopaedia.org gave their permission for our use of their images provided these appropriate citations. Our club plans to print 8.5 x 5.5 in, full color, spiral bound booklets and sell them for $15-25 each, pending final printing and shipping costs. The fundraiser will go live before winter break and upon our return in the spring we will distribute them. Payment will be accepted via Venmo or cash, Venmo preferred to increase engagement over winter break. We are happy to provide SGA with our final draft if needed. We plan to provide Dr. Shabloski and any other faculty that requests a copy for final revision if necessary. If possible, we would like to include the LECOM logo on the cover to increase "official" quality of the booklet. The Radiology club may use this booklet with future revisions in future years as fundraisers.

The goal of this event is to collect essential items for cats and dogs in need this winter. Students would be encouraged to donate from a general list as well as a high-priority needs list provided by the shelter. Proposed Event Details: Location: Main Lobby of LECOM Dates: December 6th–16th Volunteer Hours Incentive: Donate 2 items → earn 1 volunteer hour Donate 4 items → earn 2 volunteer hours All donated items will be delivered directly to the Erie Humane Society at the end of the collection period.

Students will assist with blood pressure screenings at the mosque’s free clinic, giving them a valuable opportunity to apply H&P skills in a real-world setting. A joint sign-up sheet will be sent to both clubs, and Dr. Karl Falk will be present to supervise. We anticipate needing no more than 15 volunteers. December 1, 2025 at 9:41 AMApprovedSecond Harvest Food Bank VolunteeringPathology Club12/01/202501/24/2026The pathology club plans on hosting a volunteer event at the Second Harvest Food Bank on 1/24/2026 in the AM from 9:00 to 11:30. We have done this as a club previously and the website description of the role states - Volunteers in this role will work alongside other volunteers and Second Harvest staff to accomplish the "Project of the Day". While warehouse projects vary by shift, volunteers can expect to sort, pack, and prepare grocery items for our neighbors in need. We are looking for anywhere from 10-15 volunteers for that morning. 
December 3, 2025 at 8:05 AMApprovedT-Shirt Sale- EM Commandments (Dr. Risavi's Version)Emergency Medicine12/03/202501/12/2026We would like to host a LECOM Emergency Medicine Club fundraiser to promote the organization and raise funds for future events. We will be selling T-shirts featuring Dr. Risavi’s Emergency Medicine Commandments. This will be an online sale, with all orders collected and tracked through email and a shared spreadsheet. We will advertise the fundraiser through social media and campus channels to maximize participation. Once the shirts arrive, we will distribute them on campus, following all school guidelines for event setup and distribution. The sale will run from January 12th-19th, and most likely arrive early February. Distribution will take place in the Vora Lounge once all orders have been fulfilled. Cost for short sleeve t-shirts will be $20 and the long sleeve shirts will be $25. Our club advisor, Dr. Risavi, is fully supportive of this fundraiser, and we are excited to provide a fun and meaningful way for students to show their EM pride.

We would sell them for around $70.00 with LECOM embroidered on them. Additionally, students could get their own name embroidered on the jacket as well for an additional $10.00. We would use the website Threadfellow to order the jackets once we send out a google form and know which students would like to purchase them and receive payment. The jackets without any embroidery on the website are between $46 and $55 dollars. Once they arrive and are completed we would distribute them in the Vora Lounge. We will have an option for 3rd and 4th years to pay for shipping directly to themselves. Note: the request for the Vora Lounge is not for the dates selected. Those dates will be the selling window, and distribution will depend on how long Threadfellow takes to embroider the jackets.

The event will be on Tuesday, January 20 at 5:30 PM for an engaging discussion on the importance of cultural competency in healthcare, as our speakers share real-world experiences and insights from their clinical practice. The evening will wrap up with a 15-minute Q&A session, giving students the chance to ask questions and connect directly with our panelists.

Dr. Lam will be speaking to students about how to pursue a career in plastic surgery and reviewing interesting plastic surgery case studies. Students will have the unique opportunity to have face to face discussions with a highly successful and successful osteopathic surgeon. This event will also allow LECOM to further strengthen its relationship with the national ACOS. This event will be held in collaboration with LECOM Seton Hill and Elmira ACOS-MSS via Zoom.

The event will take place remotely (with pick up at the school), in the early Fall Semester. A Google Form will be sent out, and the sale will run through August-September. The company we will be using is Threadfellows, we have already established a relationship and have the site ready for use in the fall pending approval. Multiple types of Columbia jackets will be offered, including vests, full zip jackets, and quarter zip jackets. Pick up will be in the LECOM cafeteria.

We will be selling Pulakos chocolate bars as Valentine’s candy grams, which are a great way to treat yourself or surprise a friend. Chocolate bars will be available for purchase in person in the cafeteria as well as through an online order form for pickup. Candy grams purchased online will be available for pickup at a designated table in the cafeteria.

We are requesting permission to use the nine tables located on the far left side of the cafeteria. We plan to provide pizza and juice for attendees, as the event will take place during evening hours and offering food helps ensure students are able to eat during an otherwise busy academic week. A signup sheet will be used for students to register for the event, which will be open to 1st- and 2nd-year LECOM medical students on a first-come, first-served basis with a maximum capacity of 40 students. Crafts & Connect is intended to provide students with a relaxed and welcoming environment to decompress, connect with peers, and engage in creative activities such as coloring, general arts and crafts, and a decorate-your-Anki-remote station, where students may create a keychain or personalize their Anki remote. This event aims to promote mental wellness, creativity, and social connection during a busy academic period. Dr. Awale has agreed to be present for the entirety of the event to provide faculty supervision and ensure appropriate oversight.
