August 12, 2025 at 7:42 PMApprovedClass of 2028 Student Doctor of the MonthClass of 202808/12/202508/25/2025Every month of the academic school year. Each third week of the month, a nomination form will be available for students in the Class of 2028 to submit names of students in the MS2 class. The nomination form will be linked below and includes the nominee’s name and a small explanation for why they would like to nominate the student. At the end of the week, SGA, Class Board, and Class Representatives will view the submissions and determine one student who will be the Student Doctor of the Month based on their dedication to LECOM, hard work in the classroom, willingness to help other students, and other criteria. In the fourth week of every month, an email will be sent to the nominated student to notify them that they have been nominated as the Class of 2028 Student of the Month. They will be given a nominee form to fill out, which will include fun facts about the student that they are willing to share. All questions on the form are optional, and the nominee will only be required to answer questions they are comfortable with. The Student Doctor of the Month award will be open to a student from a different pathway each month (ex. An LDP student in August, PBL in September, DSP in October, etc.) so students are able to learn about their classmates in different pathways. This will be disclosed in the nomination form each month, and only students who are from the designated pathway for the month will be able to be nominated. Once the nominee fills out the nomination form, an email will be sent to the Class of 2028 including an infographic of the student that was chosen and the fun facts/answers to the questions they filled out in the form. Nomination Form (to be sent out every 3rd week of the month): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UmE7d4ZS5uLtmcw_8DoXfkX3vINzszTA9BwTf4J6RIM/preview Nominee Form (to be sent out every 4th week of the month): https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1RGzYDnCcvNK-vFWFE5t1oD5Vc6_kygzU1AHuY8IgSmA/preview Purpose: We would like to create a sense of community between our class and highlight members of the Class of 2028 for their hard work and dedication to LECOM. We would also like to create camaraderie between different pathways and help students to get to know other students who they might not normally interact with. We would like to boost morale within our class and provide a fun outlet for students to learn more about each other.August 13, 2025 at 7:41 PMApprovedFall Glasses DriveENT_Ophthalmology08/13/202509/29/2025We will be collecting prescription and reading glasses to donate to the Sight Center of Northwest PA. The Sight Center of Northwest PA sorts through the glasses and decides which ones to keep for distribution to people in the community, then they outsource the rest of the donated glasses to other organizations such as the Lions Club international and others. I am in contact with Pam Masi from the Sight Center. Her email is pamm@sightcenternwpa.org. We will empty the bin at the end of each day to ensure it does not get too full. the intention is also to have students earn service hours for donating (1 service hour for 2 items, with a maximum of 2 hours able to be earned). After the week of collection, we will deliver the donated glasses to the Sight Center. Dr. Chris Buzas is the advisor for the club, however he is still not listed under the club advisor drop down menu. I have submitted another support request for this.August 18, 2025 at 1:53 PMApprovedSOMA Community CookbookSOMA08/18/202509/01/2025SOMA would like to create a Community Cookbook for incoming first-year students in the Medical, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Dentistry, and Master’s programs. Since nutrition is a key component of overall health and academic success, we hope to encourage healthy habits from the start of their journey. In addition to the cookbook, we plan to include a “Things to Do in Erie, PA” section to introduce students to the area and highlight local attractions, restaurants, outdoor activities, and hidden gems. Our goal is to help new students feel both supported and excited about their new home in Erie.August 19, 2025 at 1:34 PMApprovedPediatrics Club: Guest SpeakerPediatrics Club08/19/202509/03/2025The Pediatrics Club will be hosting a virtual speaker event with Dr. Rohit Kohli, a pediatric gastroenterologist located in Los Angeles, California. After speaking with Dr. Ferretti, we’re thrilled to bring her incredible idea to life: collaborating with local bakeries in Erie to showcase a variety of cultural desserts. This event will provide students with the chance to not only try delicious treats from local bakeries but also learn about the cultural backgrounds behind these baked goods. For just $5, students will receive a ticket to sample 3 desserts, while also getting the opportunity to socialize and connect with others. This is a fantastic way to support local businesses, celebrate cultural diversity, and bring the student community together! Through collaboration with Dr. Ferretti, who has contacted Mr. Dupree, there will be coffee and tea provided by the school as well as a table arrangement for the event. I have been advised by Ms. Spinazzola to submit this form with this note.
