The contact is a university professor of ASL (American sign language), and has expressed interest in coming in to teach basic medical sign language to medical students. She is also interested in education on deaf culture as well, and plans to bring in 1-2 deaf individuals so that they can explain their experiences with healthcare.

The purpose of this event is for students to explore the connections they might have with people they wouldn't normally interact with. The event will consist of two parts. Part one: participating COM students will be placed into randomized groups led by group leaders to ensure everyone participates in sharing contacts in fields their peers may be interested in. Part two: participating COM students will informally mingle, explore, and build on the connections they made in part one. This will facilitate exchange of useful information between classmates.

Between 1-3 MMS students are matched with an MS1 mentor to help them throughout the school year. SOMA sends monthly check-ins with bigs and littles to assess how the program is going and to make improvements throughout the year.

Each MS1 will just join 1 of 60 unique google meeting links and the MS2 responsible for that link will ask them a set of oral questions. Next, they will give them quick feedback. Dr. Kulesza has okayed the set up and supplied the questions for everything. Dr. Jung is also aware of the event.

Sale from Friday Oct 9th - Friday Oct 16th (or ending sooner if all Shirts are claimed) The orders will all be delivered through socially distant pick up in the back parking lot of LECOM on October 19th from 1:30-3:30 PM. All payment will take place through Venmo (Convo 2020 Shirts -$15 each and Convo 2019 Shirts -$10 each). Masks and gloves worn by all during distribution (two people distributing shirts). Pre- Order Size —> All shirts in plastic bags with names written on for distribution. If Consent is given Pick ups for more than one shirt may be allowed to reduce # of people (Ex: roommates picking up). Any student that is unavailable to be on location to pick up t-shirt on 19th can pick up T-shirt during Designated OPP Weeks (Shirts Distributed During Lab Hours by Teachers (Dr. Esper) in Lab - these shirts will be Delivered to Main campus to sit for two weeks prior to each pod getting box for distributing t-shirt)

Part of this partnership includes presentations from USMLE-Rx representatives to tell students about the resources available. As MS2 students approach more dedicated board study time, USMLE-Rx would like to give a presentation entitled “The Path to 250” to show students some of their best resources. The virtual presentation will be 1 hour long for any MS2 who chooses to attend, and it will be held on October 21 from 6-7:00pm. The event will be held on zoom or google meet and will be only virtual.

USMLE-Rx will be giving a presentation to MS1 students entitled “Mastering Med School” to show them what they can be doing as first year students and beyond to be successful in class and on boards. February 13, 2021 at 12:48 PMRejectedSOMA MMS Virtual Exam ReviewsSOMA02/13/202102/26/2021As MMS students work through Spring semester, they have a test every other Monday about either anatomy, embryology, immunology, pathology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, or genetics. Every other Friday evening during the length of Spring Semester (February 26 through May 7), SOMA students who are MS1s/MS2s will host a short, virtual review of the material and high yield topics. This virtual review will allow MMS students to focus their studies over the weekend for their tests on the following Mondays. These reviews will be virtual and held through either zoom or google meet. MMS students will be alerted through email (via Maricely) and their facebook group. This event will be completely virtual, and will follow all social distancing because of the virtual nature of the event, with no in-person assembly required.

We would have this party July 31st. It would be locally sourced to support the businesses (food, rentals, etc) that were affected by the pandemic and also open up students (online and incoming) to Erie. We would like this party to be on the Softball field. The students would have the chance to make friends and build a support system before the year picks up, take home LECOM swag like pens/sunglasses/retractable ID holders, and play games.
