This workshop presents a chance for students to learn how to identify and treat a trauma vector. As future osteopath, it is important that we explore avenues of wholistic treatments, and since trauma vectors are not covered in our OPP lab curriculum, SAAO hopes this will be a wonderful learning experience for our members to partake in. 	September 24, 2023 at 12:38 PM	Approved	AMMSA Hoops for Humanity: Charity Week for Orphans & Needy Children	AMMSA	09/24/2023	11/04/2023	The American Medical Muslim Student Association would like to host a basketball fundraiser to raise funds for the "Charity Week for Orphans and Needy Children" organization. The vision of this organization is to "become a vehicle to inspire young people to become active, socially engaged and united upon our shared Islamic and humanitarian values. Raising money to help countless Orphans and Needy Children across the World is just one outcome. Whatever the problem, no matter how complex or how longstanding, we will always find it easier to solve when we all work together." I have provided the following link of the organization for more details: https://charityweek.com/about/. A $10 fee will be charged to each person interested in participating in the tournament. 100% of the funds raised will go towards the organization. We will use our own club's funds to purchase water, cups, and trophies for the winning team. The tournament will work as a bracket 2-3 point system, first to 21. We will request teams of 3 and have 2 tournaments happening at the same time playing half-court games. We will have referees and board members to keep track of points and the bracket tournament. We were hoping to host this event on Saturday, November 4th from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM at the LECOM Wellness Center (5401 Peach St, Erie, PA 16509). This weekend seemed to work best with the MS1 and MS2 schedules so we hope to have good attendance for our event. I have called and confirmed availability with the Wellness Center and they notified me that we can host our event at the requested date/time.

Multiple second year representatives from each pathway (LDP, PBL, DSP/PCSP) will be present at the meeting to give advice to first years as they make the transition from anatomy to core classes. This will provide an opportunity for second year students to reflect on what study methods and approaches helped them to succeed in core, while also expressing which methods were not as successful. After a general welcome and overview, the club will go into breakout rooms in order to ask questions specific to each pathway, which will be led by the second-year representatives from each respective pathway. She will be speaking about her experience as an Osteopathic Family Physician on Tuesday, October 24th at 5:45PM over Zoom. She will be sharing general information on her path to become a family medicine physician, her osteopathic training, and offering advice to students. The speaking event will be followed by a Q&A session. Anyone is welcome to come prepared with questions about her life, questions about tips, or just come ready to listen. This event will help aspiring family medicine medical students learn more from a current osteopathic physician. Also, it will be a great meeting for those not sure of a specialty to learn more about the field. No person-person contact will occur. No food will be involved in this event. 	September 15, 2023 at 10:55 AM	Approved	Letters for Veterans	LECOM Med Erie - SGA	09/15/2023	10/31/2023	Purpose: We would like to hold a service event for Veterans Day. The event would involve students writing and submitting cards/notes to be sent to Veterans on their own time. After completing their letters, students will drop off the cards in a collection box kept outside of the security office, similar to other donation drives. Collection will begin on October 31st and end on November 10th. Each card donation will count for 0.5 hours with a maximum of 3 hours (6 cards). Hours will count towards SSP and LECOM hours. Approval is still pending from Touch Point. After the collection date, the letters will be sent to the address in the attached PDF below. Please see below a PDF of the flyer for the event.

The Pediatrics Club has hosted Dr. Sala in past years and we would love to have him back!

Students will volunteer in various positions and hand out treats to children and families attending said event. Students will fill out an application provided by Erie Zoo (https://www.eriezoo.org/uploads/2023-zooboo-final-application.pdf). Applications will be collected by SOMA Community Outreach Chair, Mia Tornel and mailed to Erie Zoo by September 30th. By doing this, SOMA hopes to provide a way for LECOM students to connect with the local Erie community in a fun manner celebrating the upcoming holiday. Since it will be getting into the fall, should COVID numbers begin to rise we will be sure to encourage masking and distancing to help take precautions and mitagate spread.

There will be dance performances and games. Come take a study break and celebrate with APAMSA. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights with its variations also celebrated in other Indian religions.

The organizers of the event are calling for as many volunteers as possible to help with "set-up, clean-up, registration, water stops, Promise Garden and so much more" for their upcoming event (Walk to End Alz website). I think this would be a great opportunity for the members of the NeuroPsych club to give back to the community and engage in a population of folks we are sure to encounter as future Neurologists/Psychiatrists. Also, as a LECOM health sponsored event it would be a pleasure to show our bright smiling faces to the people of Erie. The site coordinator and contact for the Walk to End Alz is as follows: Sr. Director of Development, Sara Giammarise \| 814-636-6390 \| sgiammarise@alz.org As far as COVID mitigation is concerned, this is an outdoor event and we will practice social distancing as much as possible. I will make sure the club provides hand sanitizer for at least our members if none is already available on-site.
	September 6, 2023 at 2:41 PM	Approved	Charity Miles Fundraiser	Christian Medical and Dental Association	09/06/2023	10/01/2023	CMDA is doing a fundraiser event for the entire month of October to raise money for Wounded Warrior Project, which is an organization dedicated to helping veterans recover from physical and mental wounds that they suffer from as a result of service to our country. Charity Miles is an app that you download on your phone, which raises money as you walk, run, or bike. The more miles you do, the more money is raised for Wounded Warrior Project. We are also going to send out a form for the people who are interested in participating, and then on the first day of the event we are going to send out the team name for everyone to join and then start walking, running, or biking. Everything is done on the app called Charity Miles, and the money is sent to the charity directly through the app. The participants will just make an account, join our team, and then work out on their own to raise money for the charity. This event will be done entirely on the participants' own time and can be joined from any location, so no COVID mitigation protocols are necessary.

Dr. D'Amico is a Philadelphia College Of Osteopathic Medicine graduate who completed his residency at Millcreek Community Hospital. He then completed his cardiology fellowship at the Deborah Heart and Lung Center. Dr. D'Amico is going to speak to club members about his path to cardiology and the field of cardiology. Club members will be able to ask questions to Dr. D'Amico about his journey or his advice as well. Attendees will follow whatever COVID protocols are in place at the time of the event. Our speaker is also our advisor, so he will be in attendance as well.

Acts 2:42 Bible Fellowship is a Christian church organization in Erie, Pennsylvania and they hold a Men's Day/Retreat every year in the fall. For this year's event, we are going to help set up tables and tents outside, and help with clean up during and after the event. We will be having two shifts. The first shift is from 8:00- 9:30 am. The second shift will be from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. We discussed the event with the Pastor of the church and he is very enthusiastic about us helping out. Thank you.

We will be offering name and LECOM logo embroideries. We would charge $10 for name and/or medical student, $20 for logo only and $25 for both name and logo. White coats would be collected in the cafeteria on Wednesday October 18th, 2023 from 11 am - 12:20 pm and Thursday October 19th, 2023 from 11:30 am until 12:20 pm and then finally on Friday October 20th, 2023 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. Coats will be returned to students ~4 weeks after collection dates once embroidery is completed. Students will be able to collect their coats in the cafeteria. Dates for collection are TBD based on when embroidery is complete. This will be a cash only event. Existing LECOM COVID guidelines will be followed. I emailed Matthew Bresee and received confirmation that our use of the LECOM shield followed LECOM protocol and was approved.

Purpose: To provide an opportunity for LECOM MS1s and MS2s to hear from physicians about their specialties directly. The event is open to all LECOM students. Funding: No funding is necessary for this event. The general breakdown of the event will include a 30 minute introduction from the physicians. They can discuss bread and butter cases, unique cases that appeared during practice, etc. In the last 30 minutes, students may ask specific specialty questions. SGA board members will assist in leading the Q&A panels.

SAAO is excited to present an event featuring two physicians and faculty members, Dr. Erick Esper and Dr. Melodie Chludzinski, who will delve into the ways of employing various techniques when patients seek care. This event will take place within the OPP lab and offers what we hope to be a valuable learning experience for those eager to explore the practical applications of the knowledge we amass in our lab sessions. COVID mitigation plan: We will follow the current protocols in place by the school. There are also hand sanitizer all over the OPP lab.

Additional pins for the following systems will also be offered: MSK (gold femur) and Neurology (brain). Pins are $5 each. These can be bought in the cafeteria on October 16th - October 19th between 11:30 and 12:20 pm. During this time in the cafeteria, we would like to pass out free SAACOFP swag, such as pens and stickers, to encourage more students to join SAACOFP.
