August 13, 2025 at 7:41 PMApprovedFall Glasses DriveENT_Ophthalmology08/13/202509/29/2025We will be collecting prescription and reading glasses to donate to the Sight Center of Northwest PA. The Sight Center of Northwest PA sorts through the glasses and decides which ones to keep for distribution to people in the community, then they outsource the rest of the donated glasses to other organizations such as the Lions Club international and others. I am in contact with Pam Masi from the Sight Center. Her email is pamm@sightcenternwpa.org. We will empty the bin at the end of each day to ensure it does not get too full. the intention is also to have students earn service hours for donating (1 service hour for 2 items, with a maximum of 2 hours able to be earned). After the week of collection, we will deliver the donated glasses to the Sight Center. Dr. Chris Buzas is the advisor for the club, however he is still not listed under the club advisor drop down menu. I have submitted another support request for this.

April 29, 2025 at 10:21 PMCancelledFaculty vs Students Kickball Tournament 2025DO2 Max Club04/29/202505/22/2025Hosting a fun and friendly kickball event for all students at LECOM. As DO2 Max has been experiencing inconsistent participation, events, and campus presence we want to use this as an opportunity to bring all of LECOM together before many of us go away for the summer, while also using it as an opportunity to increase future interest for the club again! Thus we are planning on hosting a kickball tournament against with willing faculty to lift the spirits of all participants after a long semester. If all things go accordingly, it can also be a social event where we can have food or sell t-shirts as a fundraising opportunity with everyone not participating just coming to watch the tournament and socialize! We envision this event launching the excitement needed for one of a couple event ideas we have for the upcoming academic year.

Members who have paid dues upon joining either club are eligible to sign up as volunteers for this event. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 14th, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The VA Hospital has requested that we limit participation to 4 volunteers. Two individuals will manage the bingo stand, while the other two will assist on the floor by checking bingo cards and ensuring a smooth experience for participants. Currently, this is a one-time event; however, if successful, we hope to establish it as a recurring event on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, depending on the hospital's capacity. Any event-related concerns should be directed to Natalie Woznicki, Recreation Therapist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, who played a key role in organizing the event and will be providing guidance. Additionally, at least one executive board member—President Pietro Elliott, Vice President Sanjana Dasari, Secretary Elle McGregor, or Treasurer Lucas Nguyen—will be present to ensure the event runs smoothly.
