	March 9, 2025 at 8:09 PM	Approved	International Trauma and Life Support Training Certification	ACOS-MSS	03/09/2025	07/31/2025	LECOM ACOS-MSS is excited to provide members an opportunity to obtain an International Trauma Life Support Certification. Dr. Risavi will be leading the event which will consist of several lectures as well as hands-on skills stations with a practical assessment at the end. This is an opportunity for members to obtain hands-on experience and to learn new skills that are essential for any specialty. The training covers vitals trauma skills such as trauma assessment, neck and spine stabilization, and airway stabilization. Additionally, this certification is similar to a certification that is required during Emergency Medicine and General Surgery residency (advanced trauma life support), allowing members to gain valuable knowledge on information for the future. This certification and skillset will contribute to developing students into well-rounded physicians and add to their unique resume during residency interviews. This will be an amazing opportunity to allow students to gain hands-on experience and knowledge, while also being able to obtain a certification. The ITLS certification will last all members 3 years. Members who decide to participate will need to purchase and read ITLS for Emergency Care Providers – 9th edition from VitalSource or Amazon. Additionally, the certification itself will cost approximately $30. The anticipated event will be held on the following dates and times: July 31st: 530pm - 10pm August 1st: 7:30am - 5pm August 2nd: 7:30am - 3pm As there are multiple skills stations and lectures, we are requesting lecture hall A in addition to the OPP lab to be reserved on the second floor. We will work with Dr. Kalmey’s office to ensure that the training does not overlap with the MS1 orientation. Our advisor, Dr. Risavi will be present. There will also be several other clinicians to assist Dr. Risavi with the event and help administer the practicals. We are capping the participation at 25 students to allow for a meaningful experience for all. Furthermore, here are the COVID protocols that I ensure are upheld at all ACOS events: 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who attends the event. 2.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending. 3.) We will abide by LECOMs current mask policy at the time of the event.

This event is to join with other people throughout Erie county to clean up Presque Isle State Park. This is an opportunity to get volunteer hours cleaning up the beaches. This event is being coordinated through Lynn Armel from the Erie County Department of Planning & Community Development. They have assigned our group to meet at the East Ave. Boat Ramp on East Ave., Erie, PA, 16507 Cleaning supplies are being provided by Erie County. COVID-19 Mitigation : This event will be outdoors and students will be provided with gloves to limit risk of infection from items picked up and working with others. Students will also be asked to wear masks while at this event.

Carron will be giving a virtual presentation to the Internal Medicine Club about "How to Succeed on Rotations." Dr. Carron graduated from the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1991 and completed her fellowship in Geriatrics. Club members will be able to attend the presentation to learn how to best prepare and stand out during their rotations. Dr. Carron will also answer any questions that students may have about rotations or the field of Geriatrics and Internal Medicine. As part of this presentation, the American College of Osteopathic Internists (ACOI) will be sending a medical textbook to two random participants that attend the lecture. The session will be on zoom to mitigate any COVID concerns.

The Internal Medicine Club will earn 15% of sales, which will help support club events and initiatives in the near future. Apparel can be ordered online at the link below once the event is approved, and the sale will last for approximately two weeks (ideally the last week of October and the first week of November). Once the sale has run for two weeks, the company will need approximately 2 weeks to fill the orders, and then the orders will be sent out. Orders can be directly shipped to those that place them, or there will be a group pick up option. For the group pick-up, people place their order online and then pick it up in the LECOM cafeteria a later date designated by the club. To do this, Sew Much More will drop off the group pick-up orders to the club's president, Sarah Centore, for the people that selected group pick-up. Sarah will then bring these orders into the school on a designated day after the orders have been given to us, and the club will distribute the remainder of the orders in the cafeteria. The link will open for purchases on 8Aug and orders will be accepted through 22Aug. Payments are made through the Sportslocker store with a percentage returning to the IM Club. After all orders have been collected, they will be bulk shipped to campus, picked up by an IM Club Exec member, and distributed to purchasers in the cafeteria. Any items not distributed will be maintained by an IM Club Exec member until such a time as it can be successfully handed off. We have made no alterations to the previously approved apparel from last year’s sale. 	October 21, 2022 at 8:53 PM	Expired	Internal Medicine and Acute Interventions Skills Night	Simulation Club	10/21/2022	11/10/2022	Event Name: Internal Medicine and Acute Interventions Skills Night When: Nov. 10 at 5:00pm to 7:15pm Where: LECOM Educational Center (formerly Porrecco Center) Total students: 16 students/hour Educational Goals: Perform a detailed physical exam on a hospitalized patient on the IM floor. Familiarize members with laboratory tests and interpretations. Discuss and demonstrate basic interventions. Provide hands-on, practical experience in a safe and positive learning environment. Event Description: Part I: Dr. Sabirov and Dr. Coughlin will present a patient case using a high-fidelity training mannequin. The case presentation will include prompts for students to take part in diagnosing and managing a stable patient who decompensates acutely. Students will participate in hands-on physical examination of the simulated patient, discuss findings, and order laboratory tests. Part II: Students will break off into groups of 4 and rotate through 4 task-trainer stations: a. Rapid-sequence intubation B. “Mini ACLS” c. Med draw w/ IV administration d. Central line placement (Ultrasound guided) We would plan on two groups of 16 students: Group 1: 5:00pm-6:00pm Group 2: 6:15pm-7:15pm COVID Mitigation Plan: All students attest to the absence of symptoms and/or exposure to COVID-19 prior to the event via online submission. All LECOM precautions will remain in place including temperature screening, face masks, and proper hand-hygiene. All training equipment will be properly sanitized before and after each student.

This event will be geared toward students wishing to learn more about how to be culturally aware, and able to serve and effectively communicate with various populations as a doctor. Students will engage in thought-provoking activities, will learn about the populations that they will be serving, and have the opportunity for questions and discussion in a safe environment. We hope this training session provides a foundation and framework for students to begin their journeys in developing their understanding of diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural appreciation.

He has spoke for IMS club multiple times via Zoom, specifically giving his lecture on “What you should know before you travel abroad”. As IMS club is full of students who have either served on medical mission trips before or are passionate to serve in the future, we believe that this would be a great opportunity to learn from an experienced medical missionary. Our IMS club advisor, Dr. Sarah McCarthy will be present for this event and all students will comply with LECOM's COVID-19 policies/guidelines. We will distribute them in the Vora Lounge once they arrive sometime late December. Since all members paid dues upon joining the club, all of these official members who have paid dues from both first and second year will be receiving this shirt for all of their hard work at volunteering events, fundraisers, and guest speaker networking. For anyone who isn't able to pick up their shirts on December 2nd, between 11:30am-12:30pm, we will be reaching out to them directly to schedule a different time for their shirt pick ups. Any issues with orders will be addressed to the help center at the rushordertees website. All T shirts will be shipped to the residence of Maryam Khan at Laurel Springs.
