This event will be geared toward students wishing to learn more about how to be culturally aware, and able to serve and effectively communicate with various populations as a doctor. Students will engage in thought-provoking activities, will learn about the populations that they will be serving, and have the opportunity for questions and discussion in a safe environment. We hope this training session provides a foundation and framework for students to begin their journeys in developing their understanding of diversity, inclusion, and cross-cultural appreciation.November 3, 2024 at 8:28 PMApprovedInformation Session with Dr. Joshua TuckSAOAO11/03/202412/04/2024Our Orthopedic Surgery Club is excited to host a Zoom information session with Dr. Tuck, an experienced orthopedic surgeon from MCH. I believe this event offers a valuable opportunity for our club members to come together in support of the greater Erie community. It also serves to raise awareness and educate the public about Huntington’s disease, a complex neurodegenerative condition that we’ve heavily focused upon in our neuroanatomy courses. Through what we’ve learned, we’ve deepened our understanding of the challenges faced not only by patients, but by their families as well. Through this event, we hope to extend our support to those in the Erie community and show that they’re not alone in their efforts. The fundraiser walk will take place on Saturday September 27, 2025 and will be located at Presque Isle State Park, Beach 1. Volunteers will help with set-up, basket raffles, registration, advocacy efforts, cheering on walk/run participants, and clean up. The volunteering period will span from 6:30AM to 12PM, with each volunteer working a minimum of 2 hour shifts.August 19, 2025 at 4:46 PMRejectedHuntington's Disease Society of America TeamHope Walk/5K RunNeuropsych Club08/19/202509/27/2025Beth Gustafson, Assistant Professor of the Physical Therapy Program at Gannon University and Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) TeamHope walk co-coordinator, recently inquired if LECOM’s NeuroPsych Club could provide volunteer support for the yearly HDSA Team Hope Walk & 5K Run fundraiser event. The intended audience is mainly MS1s but also other MS2 students who would like to get involved in research. All three are LECOM alumni/students: Kent Axcell (current MS4 and former radiology club president), Dr. Henry Wei (current resident at AHN), and Dr. Olivia Hallas (current resident at Cleveland Clinic). The goal is to have the speakers talk about why radiology may or may not be a good fit for you, and how to prepare for rotations and residency. Since the speakers have gone through the residency application process fairly recently, it should be a good opportunity to learn about what to expect from a first-hand account. The event will be over zoom and last no more than one hour.November 16, 2023 at 3:17 PMApprovedHow To Be Competitive in General SurgeryACOS-MSS11/16/202312/20/2023Student Dr. Ashton Amos is a LECOM fourth year student who applied General Surgery this year.
