This event is open to the entire student body. We will be picking road signs, gloves, garbage bags, and safety vests from PennDOT, meet at Zuck park, and spend a few hours walking the length of W. Grandview Blvd. We will be picking up debris to the enhance the appearance of the roadway and improve the health of individuals and wildlife that traverse Grandview Blvd. Filled garbage will be picked up by PennDOT the next day. Coffee and donuts will be provided to participants.
August 22, 2021 at 1:14 PMApprovedLapel Pin SalePM&R Club08/22/202108/25/2021Hi, We are planning to hold a fundraiser and sell custom lapel pins for the student's white coats. I have attached images of the custom designs for approval. We do not intend to use the official logo, just the LECOM name will be included in the design. The sale will occur online, and we will post a Google Form for students to fill out their orders. The pins will be custom made by an online company, and they will hopefully be shipped within a week of the end date of the fundraiser. It is too late to have them in by the white coat ceremony for the Class of 2024, so I will just have to distribute it to our class at a specific date and time in the future. However, for the first year's class I was wondering if it would be possible to distribute their pins along with their white coats on the date of their actual ceremony. I will come in early and put a pin on each student's chair who orders one. Thank you! Best, Carlo

Several LECOM third and fourth year students who have already had a surgical rotation as well as our advisor, Dr. Risavi, will be working with the students to demonstrate and teach the skill of knot tying. Students will be asked to bring a shoelace for their own use. The educational purpose of this event is to introduce knot tying to medical students prior to rotations. After speaking with several third and fourth year students, they have expressed the importance of this skill during their surgical rotation. The following COVID-19 protocol will be strictly followed (if mandated at the time of the event): 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the event 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend 3.) We will sanitize before and after the clinic to avoid the potential spread of COVID

Learning how to tie 1 and 2 handed surgical knots is an extremely beneficial skill for medical students to learn prior to surgical rotations. This will allow students to engage in hands on learning and to network with fellow surgery club members.

There are other events that are planned for that week that Nevin told me he sent in a request for. The event would start around 530 and end by 7pm. The main goal of this event is to have a fun event where MS1s and MS2s can interact. I already emailed Brian King and he mentioned that the field is available to use as long as it gets approved. As far as Covid protocol, because the entirety of the event is outside there should be no need for any masking or social distancing.
August 18, 2025 at 2:37 PMRejectedKearsarge VFD Open HouseEmergency Medicine08/18/202509/13/2025Kearsarge Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting their annual Open House on Saturday, September 13th, 2025. The event will take place at Kearsarge VFD (4930 West Street, Erie, PA 16509) from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The first part of the day (11:00 AM–12:30 PM) will be sensory-friendly (quiet, no sirens or loud noises), followed by general public hours from 1:00 PM–4:00 PM. Emergency Medicine Club will have a table with member volunteers doing blood pressure checks and handing out information about first aid to the community. This will provide our club members with a great chance to engage with the community, connect with local EMS and fire, and represent LECOM.

Currently, only 25% of radiologists are women. During their talk, they will introduce students to the potential career paths in radiology, speak about lifestyle, and what it is like to be a female in the field. The presentation will take place over zoom, and is anticipated to be about 1.5 hours.

A minimum of one adult staff member from the YMCA (usually 2-3 are present on a regular basis however) will be present at every meeting to be in control and take responsibility for the program and children. The purpose of the presence of the LECOM students once a week at the Kid's Club, a site run by the YMCA off campus from LECOM, is to help mentor and facilitate personal growth in the children of the program. Dr. Alexander is a current PGY-2 Internal Medicine Resident at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She will share her professional journey through LECOM, highlighting her academic pathway, clinical rotation experiences, and the factors that guided her decision to pursue a career in Internal Medicine. This presentation will be conducted via Zoom on 12/3/25 from 6:30-7:30 pm to offer valuable insight for students interested in Internal Medicine or seeking guidance in shaping their own medical careers.
February 11, 2019 at 4:01 PMRejectedJo Coffee FundraiserSOMA02/11/201902/21/2019I would place a bulk order for coffee once the fundraiser ends and then the coffee would be shipped to LECOM. I will then distribute it to students who have purchased. Forty two percent of the proceeds will go to us. Then half of the money can be donated to Love and Hope Children's Home in El Salvador via their website to help buy medication for the children there. The other half will go to Dr. Mendez, an infectious disease physician, at the San Rafael Hospital in San Salvador. She will use the money to buy baby formula for HIV positive mothers and toward installing indoor plumbing for them.

This fundraiser aims to raise money to reduce the out-of-pocket expense for students who want to attend Convocation next year (2024). A flyer will be sent out via email for students to show at Blaze Pizza for their purchase to be counted towards our fundraiser. COVID mitigation plan: We will follow the protocols set out by the school.

Taking place in the OPP lab, we will be learning in a lecture based format the basics of airway management and how to intubate on the 8th, and on the 9th we will return to perform hands on intubation training. This will be a fantastic opportunity for all of us who are interested in Anesthesia or EM, especially as we approach our clinical years ahead.
