October 13, 2020 at 2:06 PMApprovedNorthface FundraiserAMMSA10/13/202011/10/2020Traditionally, MMSA conducted a yearly Baklava sale to raise funds for the club. However due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are unable to sell food like this again. Therefore, we are hoping to sell premium winter jackets embroidered with the LECOM logo. Northface jackets are the premier in winter clothing and many other medical schools sell a version with their logo. Selling the "LECOM Northface Jacket" will provide students with an opportunity to wear high quality clothing that they can take pride in because it represents their school. We plan to sell the jackets at a low profit to keep them affordable for all students, and we plan to sell to all years and colleges at LECOM. We plan on using the official LECOM logo as provided in the portal on the jacket, embroidered in all white.
March 2, 2021 at 7:44 PMApprovedNo-Contact Food Drive for Second Harvest Food BankSOMA03/02/202104/19/2021SOMA will be hosting a No-Contact Food Drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank in Erie. This will be a contactless event, and we propose having food donation boxes at all three campus locations, either outside or inside the first set of doors, so Hybrid students are able to donate at their respective campuses. An officer from SOMA, who is already a hybrid student at each campus location, will be responsible for dropping off the box on Monday and collecting it on Friday. Kaitlyn Chadwick is a hybrid PBL student at Bayfront and would be responsible for the Bayfront collection box; Rachel Campitell is a hybrid student at West and would be responsible for the West collection box; Kevin Tay is a hybrid student at Main and would be responsible for the Main collection box. We will advertise this event to the entire LECOM student body so they are able to participate. Our option for remote students to participate will be for them to donate money via Venmo to our SOMA Treasurer, who will then give the money to Second Harvest Food Bank. At the conclusion of the Food Drive, I will arrange a date and time to drop off the collection boxes with the food bank; this will be done in a contact-free manner.

Basic neuroscience is notoriously one of the most difficult classes in medical school, and our Eboard feels it would be extremely beneficial to start hosting review sessions. These sessions will be over Zoom starting whenever the event is approved. We will have a sign up sheet for MS1 and MS2 Students to sign up to make review Powerpoints for basic neuroanatomy in exchange for community service hours. Making the presentations will be available to SSP and SOMA members, and the review nights will only be open to SOMA students.
