Students pay $25 admission for unlimited bowling, pizza, and drinks. $10 will go to Rolling Meadow Lanes and $15 will go to SAAO. The number for the bowling alley is (814) 838-7681, they are reserving 6 lanes for LECOM. A spreadsheet will be sent out so that students will be able to sign up to be on a team, each led by a LECOM professor as their team "captain". Students can also pay $5 for an arm's length of tickets to win basket raffles, with items donated from SAAO. We hope this will be a great way for students to connect not only with each other, but their professors, and also a great opportunity to support a local business.

The Community Blood Bank will send us a form to distribute to students regarding who will qualify for blood donations and how to make an appointment. We would have the event from November 17th to the 21st, where SAAO would encourage students to make an appointment to donate in order to earn 2 volunteer hours. Additionally, we will order custom circular stickers that will fit on the badge reels that say "SAAO LECOM Erie" with the American Academy of Osteopathy Ram of Reason in the center. We will purchase 300 stickers for $70.00.

We will be donating to the United Way of Erie County Community Schools, who will then distribute the supplies to students in need within the schools of Erie county. Students could donate an item for 30 minutes of volunteer time, with a maximum of 2 hours worth of volunteer hours. Additionally, students could make cash donations of any amount, which would be collected by SAAO and used to purchase supplies, for a maximum of 30 minutes of volunteer time. SAAO will send out a spreadsheet where students can sign up to bring items, as well as a list with items requested by the United Way of Erie. We will have students drop off the supplies on the front tables as you enter the LECOM building in a bag with their name on it. SAAO would then collect these items at the end of each day, as well as purchase more with the money donated, then at the end of the week take the supplies to the donation center.

March 29, 2026 at 2:14 PMRejectedSAAO and Neuroscience Club Mental Health DaySAAO03/29/202604/14/2026On April 14, from 4:30-5:30 pm, SAAO would like to host an event, with the Neuroscience club, based around a overcoming and identifying abuse. This will include a meeting with a viewing of a short youtube video that centers around identifying abuse. This video has been reviewed and approved by Dr. Laton, and he will also be moderating the event and leading discussions about the video. This event will take place in the OPP lab. We hope this event will be a great way to bring awareness to students regarding sensitive topics, and hopefully provide them with tools and resources they can take with them in their future career as physicians. The clinic will be held in the OPP lab on Thursday April 4 from 5-7 PM. We are putting this on to expose the student body to various techniques related to osteopathic medicine that aren't included in our curriculum. We are limiting this event to SAAO members only, but will be promoting it in advance to hopefully gain more membership.
February 11, 2025 at 5:05 PMApprovedSAAO Acupuncture and Relaxation WorkshopSAAO02/11/202504/07/2025SAAO will be holding an acupuncture workshop in the OPP lab on Monday, April 7th from 5 to 6:30 pm. Dr. Stephany Esper and Dr. Hendryx will be teaching students how to do simple acupuncture to reduce stress followed by a short meditation/stretching guided by Dr. Hendryx. The event would be open to all LECOM students and supplies would be provided by Dr. Hendryx and Dr. Stephanie. A sign up sheet will be released and the first 20 people to sign up will be able to participate in the acupuncture. Students beyond the first 20 will be able to attend and do the relaxation techniques, and if Dr. Stephany Esper and Dr. Hendryx have more time available, they will help those next on the list do the acupuncture.

Donations will be collected from April 6th to April 10th from 8 am to 5 pm. A drop off box clearly labeled “SAAO-CMDA Food Drive” will be placed on one of the tables in the front entrance. Any LECOM student can donate; they will receive volunteer hours for it (0.5 hours for 1 item donated for a maximum of 2 hours/4 items) They should put their items in a bag clearly labeled with their name and year (MS1, MS2, etc.). These dropoff boxes will be routinely checked to ensure that there is no overflow. Drop off of goods will be arranged with Madison Maurice (mmaurice@nwpafoodbank.org) at the Food Bank. These donations will go to members of our community, and we hope that this provides a meaningful way for students to give back to those in need and impact the community in a positive way.

Coats will be returned to students ~3 weeks after collection dates. Existing LECOM COVID guidelines will be followed. Masks will be enforced in the cafeteria during drop off/pick up of white coats.

Brighten A Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to lift the spirits of those in need of cheer by sending them love, hope, and joy through letters. We will be writing and decorating these letters together. Art supplies and food will be provided. The event will follow current on-campus COVID protocols. Masks and social distancing will be enforced. For unvaccinated attendees, we will have a separate table available.

He has presented at the American Association of Family Physicians (AAFP) Family Experience (FMX) Conference and American Academy of Family Physicians Global Health Summit. He was awarded 3rd place for the American College of Family Physicians (ACOFP) Jeffrey Grove, DO Minority/LGBTQI+ Health Disparity & Wellness Poster Competition, the 2019 APAMSA National Conference Poster Competition Best Poster in Community Health with Asian and Pacific Islander American (APIA) Focus and the Best Scientific Research Poster at the 2019 APAMSA National Hepatitis Conference Poster Competition. Dr. Chin will be discussing his path to a Family Medicine Residency, his previous and current research, as well as general advice from a recent graduate on Tuesday, October 26th at 3PM. White coats would be collected in the cafeteria on Wednesday October 18th, 2023 from 11 am - 12:20 pm and Thursday October 19th, 2023 from 11:30 am until 12:20 pm and then finally on Friday October 20th, 2023 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. Coats will be returned to students ~4 weeks after collection dates once embroidery is completed. Students will be able to collect their coats in the cafeteria. Dates for collection are TBD based on when embroidery is complete. This will be a cash only event. Existing LECOM COVID guidelines will be followed. I emailed Matthew Bresee and received confirmation that our use of the LECOM shield followed LECOM protocol and was approved.

The workshop will be lead by Dr. Brian Pickering, a LECOM graduate of the Class of 2019 and third year Family Medicine Resident. The workshop will consist of an overview of ultrasound imaging followed by common MSK findings. Anyone interested in Family Medicine/Sports Medicine is encouraged to join! COVID precautions including masks at all times will be enforced. The event will be limited to 15 attendees to allow for social distancing when possible.

She, along with a couple of current residents, will be speaking about the UPMC in Central PA (previously UPMC Pinnacle) Family Medicine Residency program on Thursday, September 16th at 5:30PM over Zoom. They will be sharing general information on the program including curriculum, schedule, and the community. The info session will be followed by a Q&A session. Anyone is welcome to come prepared with questions about their residency program, questions about applications, or just come ready to listen.
