We hope this event will be a great way to bring awareness to students regarding sensitive topics, and hopefully provide them with tools and resources they can take with them in their future career as physicians. We are putting this on to expose the student body to various techniques related to osteopathic medicine that aren't included in our curriculum. Dr. Stephany Esper and Dr. Hendryx will be teaching students how to do simple acupuncture to reduce stress followed by a short meditation/stretching guided by Dr. Hendryx. The event would be open to all LECOM students and supplies would be provided by Dr. Hendryx and Dr. Stephanie. A sign up sheet will be released and the first 20 people to sign up will be able to participate in the acupuncture. Donations will be collected from April 6th to April 10th from 8 am to 5 pm. A drop off box clearly labeled “SAAO-CMDA Food Drive” will be placed on one of the tables in the front entrance. Any LECOM student can donate; they will receive volunteer hours for it (0.5 hours for 1 item donated for a maximum of 2 hours/4 items) They should put their items in a bag clearly labeled with their name and year (MS1, MS2, etc.). These dropoff boxes will be routinely checked to ensure that there is no overflow. Drop off of goods will be arranged with Madison Maurice (mmaurice@nwpafoodbank.org) at the Food Bank.
