Each month will feature a different theme (such as Fall, Winter, New Year, Spring, Hobbies, etc.), and participants can write letters or short notes related to that theme. The letters won’t be addressed to a specific person—instead, they’ll be shared for anyone at the senior center to read or pick up, and we’ll receive letters in return for students to enjoy as well. This ongoing exchange will be a fun and meaningful way to build intergenerational connections and spread kindness throughout the year.

Still themed shirts with the American Academy of Osteopathy Student logo on the front. They will be around $20.00 per shirt. We will make the announcement to club members and they can request to purchase a shirt during forums when we will already be in the OPP lab.

This is a collaborative event with Pediatrics Club. The event will be held at Around the Post. We will be charging students $8 per person to join the tournament. Anyone not actively participating in the tournament can pay $3 to have pizza. Students are welcome to wear appropriate/non-polarizing costumes to the tournament that do not pose a trip/fall/sight hazard. We will be hosting a costume contest for those who choose to dress up. Participants may enter the costume contest as individuals or pairs. Both the winners of the tournament and the best costume will win a prize! We will have injury support for the event.

We will be hosting a Halloween celebration at the senior living center on October 31st from 3:30-6:30pm. Residents of the center who wish to participate will be encouraged to paint a pumpkin, play soft pumpkin/ring toss, and trick or treat around the atrium with booths created and staffed by LECOM club members. Invitations are being sent to different clubs currently and if necessary, the event can be downsized or upsized depending on student response and we are working with the recreation coordinator at the SLC to verify activities are acceptable for all residents who wish to join.

The session will include practical instruction on basic signs that can be useful during patient interactions. We are also working to have a member of the deaf community join to share their experiences and the challenges they face in communicating their healthcare needs. This is a valuable opportunity to gain skills that can improve patient care and enhance clinical communication.

After speaking with Dr. Ferretti, we’re thrilled to bring her incredible idea to life: collaborating with local bakeries in Erie to showcase a variety of cultural desserts. This event will provide students with the chance to not only try delicious treats from local bakeries but also learn about the cultural backgrounds behind these baked goods. For just $5, students will receive a ticket to sample 3 desserts, while also getting the opportunity to socialize and connect with others. This is a fantastic way to support local businesses, celebrate cultural diversity, and bring the student community together! Through collaboration with Dr. Ferretti, who has contacted Mr. Dupree, there will be coffee and tea provided by the school as well as a table arrangement for the event. I have been advised by Ms. Spinazzola to submit this form with this note.

Learning how to tie 1 and 2 handed surgical knots is an extremely beneficial skill for medical students to learn prior to surgical rotations. This will allow students to engage in hands on learning and to network with fellow surgery club members.

October 2, 2025 at 9:08 AMApprovedPediatric Club- Bone Marrow DrivePediatrics Club10/02/202510/27/2025We are collaborating with the Oncology Club to participate in the "Be the Match" Bone Marrow Drive! This is an incredible opportunity for students to give back to the community through a life-saving cause. Educational Purpose: This drive is not only a way to help patients in need of bone marrow transplants, but also a volunteer opportunity for our members to engage in healthcare advocacy and community service. We’ve ordered 75 cheek swab kits from the official Be the Match organization. Participants will provide a DNA sample by swabbing the inside of their cheek and placing the swab in a sterile tube provided in the kit. The process is quick, painless, and can potentially save a life. One member from each club will be stationed at our sign-up table to answer questions and assist participants with the swabbing process. We are planing to host the event every day at lunch from Monday October 27 - Thursday October 30th

She will give a presentation on what the five elements are, how they present clinically, and what it may look like if someone's dominant element becomes dysfunctional. She will also explain the treatment of these dysfunctions through lifestyle modification and acupuncture while also demonstrating some of the acupuncture techniques on a select few students. This program gives SOMA students the opportunity to see a more integrative medicine technique that definitely qualifies as treating the body as a whole - mind, body, and spirit.

Educational Purpose: This panel will highlight the physicians’ unique journeys through medical school, residency, and fellowship, offering insight into the different pathways to a career in pediatric allergy and immunology. Following their talks, the doctors will answer student questions about their field and experiences. The event will be held over Zoom on October 21st at 7:00pm
August 25, 2025 at 9:59 PMCompleteLECOM Field Day 2025LECOM Med Erie - SGA08/25/202510/20/2025The Student Government Association is excited to propose a Field Day for all medical students, faculty, and staff as a way to foster community, morale, and overall wellness on campus. Medical school can often be a high-stress environment, and this event is designed to provide an opportunity for students and faculty to step away from the classroom and clinical responsibilities, connect with one another, and enjoy lighthearted activities together. First years can celebrate the end of Anatomy, and second year LDP and DSP students can celebrate the end of their Cardiovascular unit through a variety of fun, team-based games such as tug of war, relay races, and even pumpkin painting and “pie the professor.” Each participating LECOM club will host an activity, allowing for broad student engagement and meaningful faculty participation. By encouraging collaboration, laughter, and friendly competition, this Field Day will strengthen bonds across our campus community, promote student wellness, and create lasting positive memories that enrich the medical school experience. Will be using a grill to grill food.

In preparation, we hope to collect candy donations from October 20th - October 29th to hand out to the kids. We also would like to hold a trunk-decorating volunteer event on the 29th from 6-7pm in the LECOM parking lot to organize the candy we will be handing out on the 30th and to put together decorations for the trunk-or-treat event.

The event will be from 3-5pm on October 17th in the OPP lab. The first hour will be open lab with PCSP students floating around to answer any questions you may have. The second will consist of a graded practice practical that will follow the same format as the final administered by Dr. Coughlin. SOAP notes will not be graded but we encourage you all to test your writing in the 9 minute window once you are home! This will take place in the OPP lab so OPP attire is appropriate. Please ensure to bring all equipment including a drape and something to write with! We look forward to seeing you all there!

Educational Purpose: Dr. Paul Tran will discuss the profession and the path he took during medical school and residency to get into the field of pediatric gastroenterology. After speaking, he will answer any questions about his experience in the field. We plan to hold the evnt over Zoom or Microsoft teams on Wednesday, October 15th from 5-6pm in Lecture Hall C
August 22, 2025 at 10:31 AMApprovedMug and care package fundraiserENT_Ophthalmology08/22/202510/13/2025The ENT & Ophthalmology cub will be hosting a fundraiser where we sell anatomy mugs that include a care package. I am in contact with a seller (MugShotz1888 on etsy) for the mugs that will bulk sell them to us for $10 each, including shipping, as long as we order 20 mugs. The care package will include items such as a pair of blue light glasses, Emergen-C packets, tea bags, chapstick, travel hand sanitizer, small tissue packs, gum, honey sticks, etc. We will plan to sell these mugs/care package for $20 each from October 13th through October 24th. People can place their order with us and submit payment through either venmo or with cash. After the sale has ended, we will place the orders for the mugs and care package contents. We will then assemble them after everything has arrived and distribute them during lunch over the course of a few days. I have attached a picture of the mug below. Although Dr. Buzas is not listed under the drop down menu, I have obtained his written approval for the event and have also attached it below.

September 29, 2025 at 12:52 PMApprovedMock Anatomy Practical #3ACOS-MSS09/29/202510/10/2025ACOS will be working alongside Dr. Kulesza in setting up the third and final mock practical, with both a written and oral component for all MS1s to help prepare for their exam. Dr. Kulesza will be present throughout the day and will help to set up. We are opening up assistance in preparation for the mock exam to SPM and MS2s so that students can gain volunteer hours for their time. I will work with the SGA webmaster to ensure volunteer hours are approved. The written component will take place in the Cadaver lab while the oral will be held in the study rooms. We will also be having a PBL mock practical at the same time happening in Case Room 117. The educational purpose of this event is to prepare MS1's for their anatomy practical. It will be performed exactly as the real practical to allow students to gauge their level of understanding of the material.
June 5, 2025 at 8:13 PMApprovedFall Doughnut and Apple Cider SaleSAAO06/05/202510/09/2025As a fall fundraiser, SAAO would like to sell fresh apple cider and doughnuts in the Vora Lounge during lunch (11:30-1) on October 9th. Dr. Cukierski will purchase the doughnuts from Mayer Bros in the morning, and members of SAAO will wear hairnets and gloves when distributing them and doughnuts will be placed on plates. We will sell a doughnut and cup of cider for $5.00 for both, or $2.50 for either alone.
