I'd like to nominate our support for International Rescue Committee. This organization is very well known and has been around for quite some time. They are based out of New York and they have received 4 stars from Charity Navigator. Their primary goal is to respond to humanitarian crises all over the world as well as in the U.S, including bringing primary care to refugees and at risk populations. Here is the website if you would like further information: https://www.rescue.org/what-we-do. This organization spends 89% of its budget on programs, which mean the majority of our funds raised for them will go to helping people in need. I would still like to use the coffee fundraiser as mentioned before from Jo Coffee, since we will be getting 42% of sales toward our fundraiser. Other fundraisers I've looked into do not offer this much turn around on sales. Once the orders are finished being placed, I would submit the order and then the coffee would be delivered to LECOM for me to distribute to students who have purchased. Then once LECOM has recieved the fundraiser check from the coffee company we can easily make the payment to IRC online. Please let me know if there is anything I can clarify and I welcome any feedback on this project. Thank you for considering my request.January 28, 2019 at 1:05 PMApprovedBingo at the Senior Living CenterSOMA01/28/201903/06/2019Approximately ten students who are members of SOMA go to LECOM's Senior Living Center and play bingo with the residents for one hour.February 28, 2019 at 7:18 AMApprovedLGBTQ Equality Pin SaleAllies02/27/201903/04/2019LECOM Allies is hoping to sell pins with the Human Rights Campaign's logo of an equal sign. The first one is the Jo Coffee fundraiser. Since we are raising money for 2 organizations, I thought 2 fundraiser events would raise enough money to donate to both. This one is simple. Students simply show up to Blaze Pizza and show them the flyer for our fundraiser and then Blaze will send a check back to us to donate to our causes. We will receive 20% of the sales profit. Then half of the money can be donated to Love and Hope Children's Home in El Salvador via their website to help buy medication for the children there. The other half will go to Dr. Mendez, an infectious disease physician, at the San Rafael Hospital in San Salvador. She will use the money to buy baby formula for HIV positive mothers and toward installing indoor plumbing for them.January 21, 2019 at 3:08 PMApprovedSpeaking Event with Pediatric Physical TherapistPediatrics Club01/21/201902/21/2019Pediatrics Club is hosting a speaking event with Ms. Kathy Schreckengost, a Pediatric Physical Therapist to discuss early intervention, specifically about plagiocephaly and torticollis.
