The contact is a university professor of ASL (american sign language), and has expressed interest in coming in to teach basic medical sign language to medical students. She is also interested in education on deaf culture as well, and plans to bring in 1-2 deaf individuals so that they can explain their experiences with healthcare.

If accepted, Chipotle will donate 33% of proceeds made by individuals who show them our flier. Menchies has not specified the exact amount they would donate. Mentoring club would promote going to one of both of these places through social media and word of mouth. The money would go towards Mentoring club, likely allowing us to replace some of the worn out sport equipment that the children are currently using.

She is board certified in internal medicine, integrative medicine, and palliative care and is currently the medical director of Hospice at Windber. She will be speaking to the students about her journey into medicine, how to navigate being a female physician while raising four children, and will answer any questions about her career and family planning.
April 4, 2019 at 10:40 AMRejectedClass of 2022 Informational BrunchClass of 202204/04/201905/05/2019The Class of 2022 would like to host a class brunch with the class funds for a maximum number of 100 individuals. The purpose of the brunch is to invite around 5 MS3s/MS4s in the area and LECOM faculty to interact with MS1s. This interaction will include networking, asking questions about the process between rotations/residency selections, and receiving reassurance about the board study process. There will also be raffle baskets at the brunch with donations directly going to The Michael J. Fox foundation which is a foundation dedicated to fundraising money for Parkinson’s, which is a condition MS1s are learning about in Neuroanatomy this month. The expenses will be paid for by the class up to $2000 and any other expenses will be split amongst the members joining, however the total amount of spending will be close to $2000. This will happen the first weekend of May in the morning with faculty at a location that has been sought out known as The Cork. The goal of the event is to network, meet senior LECOM students, talk to faculty, donate to the cause of Parkinson’s research, and have brunch together hosted by the Class of 2022.

This event will include several clinical scenarios and skills stations led by St. Vincent residents that will provide practical hands on exposure that will be very useful for us as future clinicians in a fun environment. The event will occur on 5/3/19 and run from 1:30-5pm at the Kearsarge Fire Department. The cost of registration will be $15. The scenarios/stations will include, but not be limited to: - Trauma Assessments (Utilizing ABCDE and a mock patient) - Airway Management (Intubation and basic airway management) - 2+ Scenarios that have been covered in lecture (Undisclosed) - Patient extrication/ Stretcher Improvisation - Chemical Exposure/Poisoning - Hyperthermia/Hypothermia We are also trying to get our hands on a portable ultrasound machine to be available to us to learn/practice certain emergency diagnostics (FAST exams)!

The YETI bottles will cost us $30 with the customization and we plan on selling them for $38. Some of the proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to Emma's Footprints Foundation, a local non-profit organization that helps parents with fetal and infantile loss. Our club is currently working with Emma's Footprints by volunteering at their annual Gala on March 2nd. The remainder of the proceeds will be for our club expenses to provide food and other materials during our monthly meetings. UPDATED SECTION: The logo will be printed on the YETI thermostats. Building off of the Wilderness Medicine Club's first aid kit sale, it is common to carry a tourniquet alongside your kit for dire circumstances. Current research shows the significant decrease in traumatic mortality when a tourniquet is applied to uncontrollable extremity bleeds. We hope that by running this fundraiser our students will be safer and better prepared for the unforeseen circumstances that have unfortunately become all too common in today's day and age. The cost for each unit will be at most will be $29.99; however depending on number we are looking at ordering in bulk to reduce cost for our students.
