After hearing him talk at SOMA's Summer Leadership Meeting (SLM) in Chicago in July, I have invited Dr. Kevin Klauer, CEO of the AOA, to come speak to our campus on Mentorship in Medicine. Dr. Klauer is a board certified EM Physician who has held many leadership positions with various medical organizations (ACEP, ACOEP, AOA). He has earned numerous awards for his mentorship and leadership, including the 2018 ACOEP Educator of the Year award. As part of a panel at SOMA's SLM, Dr. Klauer emphasized the importance of the Mentor-Mentee relationship in medical school as well as while practicing medicine. This talk will be given immediately prior to the Big training session to kick off the Big/Little program for the year. As of now, we are requesting to have this be an in person talk in Lecture Hall D, and will be open to any first or second year student who wants to attend. We will require masks and practice appropriate social distancing. If the COVID climate changes and we need to switch our event to Zoom, we are willing to do so to accommodate the safety of all attendees.August 18, 2022 at 5:56 PMCancelledMentorship in Medicine TalkSOMA08/18/202209/09/2022Dr. Lee and Dr. Thielman have already been consulted on this event!
