With the current state of the club, the books & boards have not been replenished or updated since 2021. The kids go to their local Kids Club library to check out books, and play with the board games whenever they complete homework in the club. The children coming to the Kids Club live in the Erie Heights complex, a Section 8 housing community. The kids coming to the club range from 5 to 15 years old. Mentoring Club would like to collect books & board games to donate to the club for the upcoming spring & summer for the club. Each item will amount to .5 volunteer hours, with a maximum of 2 hours for 4 items. This event will be co-run with the new e-board, in order to assist with their transition as the new Mentoring Club e-board.August 5, 2019 at 10:01 PMApprovedBlaze Pizza FundraiserSAAO08/05/201908/14/2019From 5 PM - 8 PM on Wednesday, August 14th - Blaze pizza will donate 20% of all proceeds to SAAO.July 1, 2025 at 6:33 PMApprovedAHN Saint Vincent Cancer Center Patient BagsOncology Club07/01/202508/12/2025For this event, we will be asking students to donate new and unused items that chemotherapy patients would fine useful whenever they are attending their appointments. This includes a variety of items such as lotion, chapstick, small snacks, socks, tissues, puzzle books, etc. If a student brings in 2 of these items, they will receive 1 hour of service. Students will sign up to record the donated items on a shared spreadsheet. We will place a donation basket at the entrance for students to drop off their items. Once these items are collected, they will be placed into gift bags and donated to the AHN Saint Vincent Cancer Center in Erie so they can be distributed to patients by the staff. We have contacted the Cancer Center and they are willing to accept our donations.January 21, 2022 at 4:44 PMExpiredSNMA Winter Clothing Drive for RefugeesSNMA01/21/202202/04/2022For SNMA's MLK Day of Service event we are hosting a Winter Clothing Drive to donate to recent Afghan Evacuees. On their website, they have a detailed packet of all instructions and recommendations to set up an event and this packet is attached with this description. In summary, Food for Kidz will deliver the dried food in bulk and all of the equipment needed to set up packing stations. Our volunteers will help set up all the packing stations and supplies. Volunteers then work in teams to pack individual, sealed, fortified rice-soy protein meal packages. Each of these packages provides six servings. These packages are then packed into boxes (216 packages per box) which will then be sent to a child in need somewhere in the world. One box of food will feed a child for approximately 7 months. At the end of the packing session, volunteers will then help load the boxes of packed food and supplies onto the Food for Kidz truck, and the Food for Kidz organization will handle the rest of the distribution and delivery of the food to its destination. Purpose: To provide an opportunity for LECOM to help fight world hunger and volunteer our time to help those in need in our world, and to foster the caring and giving attitude embedded in LECOM’s mission. We hope to hold this event as a large volunteer opportunity open to all LECOM students and faculty, that encourages students and faculty from all disciplines, pathways, and clubs to work together and get to know each other outside of the classroom or otherwise defined roles within other groups/clubs. Volunteers: Open to all LECOM students and faculty Funding: Food for Kidz recommends raising approximately $20 per adult per hour of packing, to cover the costs of the food, supplies, and costs of running the event. After approval of the event, we will send out sign up forms in which volunteers can sign up for the shift(s) they would like. Based on the total amount of people signed up to volunteer for each hour, we can calculate the total amount of money needed to hold the event, which we hope to use SGA funding for. Ex. 50 people volunteering each hour x 4 hours x $20 = $4000 Covid Protocol: All attendees will be required to remain masked for the entirety of their time volunteering. Attendees will follow all guidelines for exposure and symptoms as outlined in the portal screening form. Hand sanitizer will be provided.October 9, 2018 at 10:12 AMApprovedSuture ClinicACOS-MSS10/09/201810/31/2018Following our typical monthly meeting, we will hold our annual suture clinic, open to all SOSA members.
