This will allow us to have approval in time to have a forum before the first practical on August 10th. We will meet every other Tuesday, but having all Tuesdays reserved will let us make changes in the our schedule depending on the practical schedule. Students will have the opportunity to practice and ask any questions they may have before the practicals that will be occurring the following day, Wednesdays, in class lab. Both will take place in the OPP lab at the LECOM-ERIE main building. The MS1 forum will take place from 5:30-6:30pm. Break will be from 6:30-7:00pm. The MS2 forum will follow from 7:00-8:00 pm. Times are subject to change, mainly the exlusion of a break between forums. All in attendance are required to be SAAO members and have their local and national dues paid.
January 12, 2024 at 10:05 AMApprovedDonation Drive for Mental Health Association of NW PennsylvaniaNeuropsych Club01/12/202402/12/2024I would like to organize a donation drive for the Mental Health Association (MHA) of NW Pennsylvania with collections lasting for two weeks: Monday 2-12-24 to Friday 2-23-24. Many of the clients at MHA are unhoused individuals and with the coming winter months it is more important than ever to get these folks what they need to endure. Approximately 25-30% of unhoused people face serious mental health or substance use disorders (1). I believe this to be a good opportunity to help out a population of people that we as future practitioners will invariably treat; from the Psychiatrist's office to the ER. MHA has a premade flier asking for socks, underwear, and T-shirts which you will find attached. I would like to expand the scope of the drive to any usable winter gear that people may be willing to donate. Our point of contact at MHA is Mary Sackett (814-452-4462 ext. 132, MSACKETT@mhanp.org) and she has expressed that any little bit will help. For students that donate I would like to provide them with the maximum number of volunteer hours that is appropriate for such an event: 0.5 hrs per item, with a max of 2 hours. The Class of 2022 appreciates the work of the faculty immensely and we are blessed to have the best medical mentors helping us do our best towards our goals as future medical professionals each and every day. The lunch would be for all of the medical faculty and would be next week towards the end of the week.
January 16, 2024 at 9:14 AMApprovedTrivia NightLECOM Med Erie - SGA01/16/202402/05/2024I would like to hold a Trivia Night for the students at 6:00 on Monday, February 5th. The event will for students will start at 6:00 for students, but I will be there at 5:30 to ensure set-up. Set-up will consist of logging into Kahoot (an online app that allowed me to set-up the trivia questions). Students will participate in teams 1-5. Prizes will be given out at the end of Rounds 1, 2, and 3. The winners of those prizes will be determined by whichever team accumulated the most amount of points for that round (the team who scores the most at the end of round 1 will get a prize, the team who scores the most during round 2 will win a prize, etc.). A grand prize will be given out to the team who accumulated the most amount of points throughout all three rounds. The prizes are listed in the document below, and have been approved by the LECOM SGA Board. Trivia Questions are also in the attached document. Each round should take 15-30 minutes, and the whole event should take 60-90 minutes. After the event has been concluded, participants will be expected to promptly leave the lecture hall and SGA will ensure that no mess has been made.

If accepted, Chipotle will donate 33% of proceeds made by individuals who show them our flier. Menchies has not specified the exact amount they would donate. Mentoring club would promote going to one of both of these places through social media and word of mouth. The money would go towards Mentoring club, likely allowing us to replace some of the worn out sport equipment that the children are currently using.

The AFJ-ROTC Commandos Competition is a physically demanding military-style athletic event featuring activities such as ropes courses, tire flipping, people carrying, and running. Last year, the responsibility for both first aid and scoring were handled by a single individual (Dr. Chludzinski), which caused delays in event results. This year, she has requested additional assistance specifically for first aid coverage. Our role will be to provide basic first aid services for event participants, such as bandaging, applying ice, and addressing minor injuries. A first aid kit, stocked with essential supplies, has already been donated for use by the club. Additionally, the AFJ-ROTC has requested support in the form of a donation of basic first aid supplies, including bandages, splints, ace wraps, and other items for use during their practices and future competitions. If club funds are available, we would like to explore the possibility of contributing to this request. Dr. Chludzinski will be present to supervise all first aid efforts, ensuring appropriate oversight throughout the event. We believe this is an excellent opportunity for students to engage with the community while gaining practical experience in providing medical support in a real-world setting.

Each student would purchase a ticket for $12. An excel sheet will be monitored for all students that will be in attendance to maintain contract tracing. Additionally, students will have the option to bring their significant other as well but will be required to give the name and phone number of the additional person at the time of purchase in order to maintain contact tracing. Since the venue is entirely outside, masking would not be needed. If a student comes into contact with a positive case, we will utilize the excel sheet to monitor any potential outbreak. The overall price would be: 60 tickets—> $2,160 The price of the ticket will include: (pasted from Erie Seawolves website) Game tickets with reserved Bud Light Party Deck seating -- a combination of swivel mesh seats and high-top bar stools. An All-You-Can-Eat meal package featuring Smith's hot dogs and Italian sausages, hamburgers, Pepsi fountain drinks, peanuts and popcorn. Up to two (2) domestic draft beers per adult over 21, must show ID at venue. All items delivered to your seats by your game day server (limit contact via no buffet) The deck is open for 1.5 hours, 30 mins before the game and ending one hour after the start of the game. This event is open to the Class of 2025 in celebration of almost finishing their first year of medical school.

We would provide supplies that are needed for those at this organization. I would like everyone that wants to participate to get an hour of service for each item that they donate (a max of 3 hours total). I will create a google drive that students can sign up for and the students can drop off their donations at security. Once the drive ends, my e-board and I will drop off the items at the organization. The purpose of this drive is to provide those less fortunate and the community organization with needed supplies to ensure others well-being and health.

The intended audience is mainly MS1s but also other MS2 students who would like to get involved in research. The aim of this event is to encourage future scholarly activity, and to provide a formal setting to allow LECOM students interested in participating in research at LECOM and other institutions to hear about the different ways fellow students found their research opportunities (between MS1 and MS2 summer) and ask questions about their experiences. The session will last from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in Vora Lounge the agenda for the session is as follows: 3:30-3:40– Introduction + Basics types research students were involved in 3:40-4:10 – 6 selected students will take 5 minutes each to detail: How they found the opportunity How they got the opportunity/Application process What their project was (briefly) – any clinical aspect? What they liked and/or any drawback to the program (organization?) Are you continuing, or were you given the option to continue your research now? 4:10-4:30 – Breakout sessions; one side of the room will be devoted to discussing research at LECOM, and the other will be devoted to discussing research at other institutions. More MS2s who participated in research this past summer, in addition to the 6 who presented, will be in these groups, and students can ask any questions or have discussions individually with any MS2s who participated in research. The festival is celebrated in March of every year that marks the end of winter and welcomes in the arrival of spring. Holding this event for the student body of Asian Americans at LECOM would be a great way to honor and commemorate the tradition. The event will be available to students, staff, and faculty. We will take precaution/abide by LECOM's COVID protocol by limiting the maximum capacity to 80 people. Using our club funds, we will provide/purchase art supplies to create colorful t-shirts in honor of Holi. This interactive event would be a great way to celebrate the tradition and to spread diversity within LECOM's community.

APAMSA’s wants to spread diversity by celebrating one of the popular and significant holidays of the Hindu community. Holi is a vibrant celebration that involves a lot of dancing, singing, and throwing colored powders. APAMSA is partnering up with the LECOM Mentoring Club to celebrate Holi with the kids at the YMCA. We want to educate the children on what Holi means and to celebrate a joyous and colorful holiday by having them interact with colored powders (paints) that are easily washable and environmentally friendly. Both clubs have gotten approval from YMCA in allowing children to partake in this activity. APAMSA will bring all the materials needed for the event to happen. Both APAMSA and Mentoring Club will be responsible for cleaning the aftermath of the event premises. The event will take place on March 28 at 5:30 – 6:30 PM located at Erie Heights Kids Club. SNMA is focused on supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students and we believe it is important to highlight different cultures to give students increased medical cultural competency. Dr. David Figueroa is a psychiatrist and is affiliated with Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie. He obtained his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and his Master of Science in medical education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry and his residency at LECOM. Dr. David Figueroa will discuss his path to medicine and discuss the influence of Hispanic Culture on treatment of care. There will be an opportunity for students to ask any questions of interest as well!

I have attached images of the custom designs for approval. We do not intend to use the official logo, just the LECOM name will be included in the design. The sale will occur online, and we will post a Google Form for students to fill out their orders. The pins will be custom made by an online company, and they will hopefully be shipped within a week of the end date of the fundraiser. It is too late to have them in by the white coat ceremony for the Class of 2024, so I will just have to distribute it to our class at a specific date and time in the future. However, for the first year's class I was wondering if it would be possible to distribute their pins along with their white coats on the date of their actual ceremony. These two organizations, and the LECOM Pediatrics Club, will be heading to the Erie Ice Arena to meet with families from the community and promote healthy nutrition, exercise, and mental health.
