Brighten A Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to lift the spirits of those in need of cheer by sending them love, hope, and joy through letters. We will be writing and decorating these letters together. Art supplies and food will be provided. The event will follow current on-campus COVID protocols. Masks and social distancing will be enforced. For unvaccinated attendees, we will have a separate table available.

Coloring Materials will be provided along with snacks to enjoy while earning volunteer hours by creating art for nursing homes, hospitals, troops, and young children in need of a smile. This will be followed with a Q&A session to address any topic members are interested in.

The workshop will be lead by Dr. Brian Pickering, a LECOM graduate of the Class of 2019 and third year Family Medicine Resident. The workshop will consist of an overview of ultrasound imaging followed by common MSK findings. Anyone interested in Family Medicine/Sports Medicine is encouraged to join! COVID precautions including masks at all times will be enforced. The event will be limited to 15 attendees to allow for social distancing when possible.

Immediately after the quilt making event, students will gather in the atrium to form LECOM's annual AIDS day ribbon picture. *All the bags for the candy grams will be sealed, and any food or drinks contained within are not to be consumed lecture halls!*

As the winter is approaching, there is a great need for items that provide warmth as well as medications. The following supplies will be collected: hand warmers, foot warmers, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, thermals, gauze bandages, first aid kits, vitamin C, and cold medication. A collection box will be set up in the security office. The second will consist of a graded practice practical that will follow the same format as the final administered by Dr. Coughlin. SOAP notes will not be graded but we encourage you all to test your writing in the 9 minute window once you are home! This will take place in the OPP lab so OPP attire is appropriate. Please ensure to bring all equipment including a drape and something to write with! We look forward to seeing you all there!

We will be offering name and LECOM logo embroideries. We would charge $10 for name and/or medical student, $20 for logo only and $25 for both name and logo. White coats would be collected in the cafeteria on Wednesday October 18th, 2023 from 11 am - 12:20 pm and Thursday October 19th, 2023 from 11:30 am until 12:20 pm and then finally on Friday October 20th, 2023 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. Coats will be returned to students ~4 weeks after collection dates once embroidery is completed. Students will be able to collect their coats in the cafeteria. Dates for collection are TBD based on when embroidery is complete. This will be a cash only event. Existing LECOM COVID guidelines will be followed. I emailed Matthew Bresee and received confirmation that our use of the LECOM shield followed LECOM protocol and was approved.

August 9, 2019 at 11:56 AMCancelledRuck the BayLECOM Military Medicine Club08/09/201908/30/2019Ruck the Bay is a donation/fundraising event for the EUMA's Liberty House which raises supplies and money for veterans. On October 13th, Participants ruck, walk, or run a 10K with a bag filled with donations (canned food, clothes, coins etc). LECOM Military Medicine would like to collect supplies from the student body to carry and then donate on the day of the event, starting on Aug 30th. We would like the ability to set up a collection box to collect donations during Lunch and in the mornings in the LECOM Cafeteria. The collections will take place from August 30th to October 11th. Due to the size of the event, the press will be expected to be present, but we did not contact them ourselves. On the day of the event , members of LECOM's Military Medicine club will be wearing club shirts with the LECOM name on them as well as carrying the donated items to the final collection point.
