The event will be on April 24 from 6:00-7:00 pm. It is open to SAAO members only, but will be promoting the event before hand to try and gain more membership. At the nursing home, there will be various activities including board games, bingo, and arts and crafts. Students volunteering will be in compliance with both LECOM COVID guidelines, as well as the guidelines put in place by the SLC.
September 27, 2023 at 6:56 PMApprovedTrauma Vector WorkshopSAAO09/27/202311/02/2023SAAO is excited to propose the opportunity to hold a Trauma Vector Workshop, led by Dr. Hendryx. This workshop presents a chance for students to learn how to identify and treat a trauma vector. As future osteopath, it is important that we explore avenues of wholistic treatments, and since trauma vectors are not covered in our OPP lab curriculum, SAAO hopes this will be a wonderful learning experience for our members to partake in. Covid mitigation plan: We will follow the current protocols set in place by the school. October 2, 2024 at 1:08 PMApprovedSAAO/Sports Med Club KT and Cupping ClinicSAAO10/02/202411/06/2024SAAO is co-hosting an event with the Sports medicine club to teach the student body practical applications of KT taping and cupping. The event will be on November 6 from 5:30-7:30 in the LECOM-Erie OPP lab and we will have Dr. Melodie, Dr. Falk, and various sports medicine faculty coming in to help us run the clinic.
March 7, 2024 at 8:48 AMApprovedSAAO/SOMA Food DriveSAAO03/07/202404/22/2024SAAO is co-hosting a food drive with SOMA to support the Second Harvest Foodbank. It will be from 4/22-4/26 and is a great way to gain volunteer hours while helping the local foodbank. We will be collecting non-perishables and pantry items for a maximum of 2 hours (0.5 hours per item). The donation bin will be placed in the LECOM Lobby and the items will be collected at the end of the week and delivered to the food bank. This will be a contactless event, and will follow all LECOM COVID guidelines set in place.
February 24, 2026 at 10:04 PMApprovedSAAO & CMDA Food DriveSAAO02/24/202604/06/2026SAAO & CMDA will be collaborating with the Second Harvest Food Bank for a food drive (consisting of non-perishable items; mainly canned goods). Donations will be collected from April 6th to April 10th from 8 am to 5 pm. A drop off box clearly labeled “SAAO-CMDA Food Drive” will be placed on one of the tables in the front entrance. Any LECOM student can donate; they will receive volunteer hours for it (0.5 hours for 1 item donated for a maximum of 2 hours/4 items) They should put their items in a bag clearly labeled with their name and year (MS1, MS2, etc.). These dropoff boxes will be routinely checked to ensure that there is no overflow. Drop off of goods will be arranged with Madison Maurice (mmaurice@nwpafoodbank.org) at the Food Bank. These donations will go to members of our community, and we hope that this provides a meaningful way for students to give back to those in need and impact the community in a positive way.

Pins for each of the following systems will be offered: Anatomy (full body), MSK (gold femur), Neurology (brain). Pins are $5 for the 1st one and $4 for any additional. Online orders via Google Form will be accepted starting April 7th, 2023 until Friday, May 13, 2023. Payment will be accepted via cash. For pickup, we will have multiple contactless pickup dates/times available. Currently we would like to have pick up dates on April 18th, 24th, 25th, and 26th between 12 pm and 12:50 pm in the cafeteria. During this time we would also like to encourage new members to join SAACOFP by handing out free SAACOFP merchandise such as pens and pins.
April 11, 2023 at 8:56 AMApprovedSAACOFP Asbury Woods CleanupFamily Medicine Club04/11/202305/06/2023SAACOFP would like to host a Clean-Up Day at Asbury Woods on Saturday, May 6th from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Volunteers would be removing invasive Buckthorn saplings and shrubs from the area to keep the trails and grounds accessible for the community. Work gloves and shovels would be provided. We would like to provide volunteers with lunch after cleanup. Asbury woods has given us permission to use their picnic tables on site. Pizza will be purchased and we will submit a reimbursement form. For safe distribution, gloves would be used for distribution of the food and those handling the food would be wearing masks as well. We will also have disinfectant on hand to clean down surfaces and hand sanitizer in the event bathrooms are unavailable. All beverages will be individually packaged.

Brighten A Day is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to lift the spirits of those in need of cheer by sending them love, hope, and joy through letters. We will be writing and decorating these letters together. Art supplies and food will be provided. The event will follow current on-campus COVID protocols. Masks and social distancing will be enforced. For unvaccinated attendees, we will have a separate table available.

Coloring Materials will be provided along with snacks to enjoy while earning volunteer hours by creating art for nursing homes, hospitals, troops, and young children in need of a smile.
