Dr. Stephany Esper and Dr. Hendryx will be teaching students how to do simple acupuncture to reduce stress followed by a short meditation/stretching guided by Dr. Hendryx. The event would be open to all LECOM students and supplies would be provided by Dr. Hendryx and Dr. Stephanie. A sign up sheet will be released and the first 20 people to sign up will be able to participate in the acupuncture. Students beyond the first 20 will be able to attend and do the relaxation techniques, and if Dr. Stephany Esper and Dr. Hendryx have more time available, they will help those next on the list do the acupuncture.

When shown the attached flyer at checkout, 15% of the proceeds from the purchase will be donated to SAAO. The money raised will be used towards special events and convocation expenses.

This will be held at 5 PM on the first Wednesday of every month, beginning 8/6. This clinic provides students the opportunity to have patient care interactions and practice their OMM skills while also serving the Erie community. This clinic will occur under the supervision of LECOM faculty and adhere to applicable state, federal, and local regulations.

As the winter is approaching, there is a great need for items that provide warmth as well as medications. The following supplies will be collected: hand warmers, foot warmers, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, thermals, gauze bandages, first aid kits, vitamin C, and cold medication. A collection box will be set up in the security office. April 3, 2025 at 12:27 AMApprovedLECOM Senior Living Center Bingo NightSAAO04/03/202505/08/2025SAAO will be bringing 10 volunteers to the LECOM Senior Living Center on May 8th at 6pm. We will be playing bingo and spending time with the residents. Dr. Melodie will be attending the event with us. Students will help the staff bring the residents down to the common area for bingo, help them play, then help staff return them to their quarters after. The bingo supplies will be provided by the Senior Living Center activities director, and Dr. Melodie has offered to bring some prizes for the residents, such as puzzles, word search books, and coloring books. It will give students an opportunity to get involved with the community and enjoy an evening with the residents of the care center.

This event will be an opportunity for the students who attended convocation to practice their newly learned OMT skills and also provide students a setting to ask questions about convocation. The goal is that after this evening interest will be built among the members of SAAO to plan to attend convocation in the Spring of 2023. The event will be on April 12th at 5 pm in the OPP lab.

The event will be on April 24 from 6:00-7:00 pm. It is open to SAAO members only, but will be promoting the event before hand to try and gain more membership. At the nursing home, there will be various activities including board games, bingo, and arts and crafts. Students volunteering will be in compliance with both LECOM COVID guidelines, as well as the guidelines put in place by the SLC.

This workshop presents a chance for students to learn how to identify and treat a trauma vector. As future osteopath, it is important that we explore avenues of wholistic treatments, and since trauma vectors are not covered in our OPP lab curriculum, SAAO hopes this will be a wonderful learning experience for our members to partake in. It will be from 4/22-4/26 and is a great way to gain volunteer hours while helping the local foodbank. We will be collecting non-perishables and pantry items for a maximum of 2 hours (0.5 hours per item). The donation bin will be placed in the LECOM Lobby and the items will be collected at the end of the week and delivered to the food bank. This will be a contactless event, and will follow all LECOM COVID guidelines set in place.
