February 27, 2026 at 11:18 AMApprovedDO Day at the LECOM Senior Living CenterLECOM Med Erie - SGA02/27/202604/11/2026SGA, in collaboration with ACOS, the Family Medicine Club, and SSP, will host DO Day at the LECOM Senior Living Center (SLC) on April 11th, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Dr. Melodie Chludzinski will be present to oversee and support the event. From 1:00–3:00 PM, we will offer a Spa Day experience for residents. Two rounds of 12 participants (24 total) will rotate through this portion of the event. Residents will have the opportunity to soak their hands to gently remove existing nail polish, select a color of their choice, and receive fresh polish applied by student volunteers. Designed to be calming and restorative, the spa experience focuses on comfort, conversation, and individualized attention. Each participant will also receive a thoughtfully prepared goodie bag filled with self-care items, including sensitive-skin face masks, lotions, travel-size Vaseline and body wash, nail care items, nail polish, cuticle care supplies, and fuzzy socks; small comforts meant to extend the feeling of care beyond the event itself. From 3:00–5:00 PM, we will host Bingo, welcoming an estimated 40–50 residents. Students will assist and sit alongside residents as they play, helping to create a warm, engaging environment. Prizes will be distributed throughout the afternoon, and sugar-free snacks and beverages will be available during both portions of the event. This event is rooted in promoting wellness, relaxation, and meaningful social connection. The Spa Day offers therapeutic stress relief and personalized interaction, while Bingo fosters joy, laughter, and a sense of community among residents and LECOM students alike. Student volunteers will sign up in 2-hour blocks, with up to 30 volunteers per block (60 volunteers total). SGA will coordinate with ACOS, Family Medicine Club, and SSP to organize volunteers, manage setup, and ensure all supplies are prepared, allowing the day to run smoothly and create a positive, memorable experience for everyone involved.

The welcome back party will give incoming MS1 students the opportunity to meet the faculty as well as MS2. For the MS2, it will be provide an opportunity to catch up with peers and faculty. We would like to support the local Erie businesses and will have 1 food trucks and 1 ice cream truck from local vendors. We will have outdoor games such as cornhole, large 4 in a row, and large jenga. We would also like to provide tables where people can sit and eat. We can either rent them or if LECOM has tables we can use that would be ideal.

They will park in the parking lot close to the softball field. They will be there from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm. We will be giving out meal vouchers that can be used to get food at the truck. Invitations: Google form invitations will be sent out to MS1, MS2, and faculty via email. SGA board will also email invitations to faculty. Google form will serve as RSVP. Set Up: SGA Board (Khin Oo, Tyler Dobratz, Abhay Dhillon, Ananya Koka, Anthony DiCecca, Serene Bahi, and William Kim) will be at the softball field by 3:15 PM to set up. The food truck will arrive at 3:30 PM. Tables, chairs, and games from the rental company will arrive at 3:30 PM. Both have been given directions and the location of the softball field. Food & Beverages: We would like to support the local Erie businesses and will have Spanglish food truck on site. They will park in the parking lot close to the softball field. There will be a sign-in table by the entryway of the softball field where we will keep track of attendees and give out meal vouchers. This event will give students opportunities to network and interact with physicians in the Erie area. Each physician and a group of students will get 5 to 10 minutes of Q/A time. We will provide general suggestion questions via email to students of possible topics to discuss with physicians. During this one-hour session at the cafeteria, students will ask physicians questions regarding their specialties. Physicians will be gifted Starbucks gift cards for their generous time (out of the SGA budget). We are in the process of contacting physicians. Covid Protocol: Maintain a log of attendees at the event for contact tracing if possible exposure occurs Students, attendees, and speed dating stations will maintain a social distance of 6 feet. The cafeteria tables will be sanitized during set up and closure of the event. Create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending All attendees will be required to remain masked for the entirety of their time volunteering. Attendees will follow all guidelines for exposure and symptoms as outlined in the portal screening form Hand sanitizer will be provided
August 16, 2024 at 7:38 PMApprovedMonthly Meditation WorkshopLECOM Med Erie - SGA08/16/202408/26/2024SGA would like to hold monthly meditation workshops led by Dr. Hendryx on the last Monday of every month at 6pm in the yoga room at the wellness center. The goal of this event is to contribute to the new "LECALM" initiative. We aim to provide a space for students to decompress and practice meditation techniques in hopes of improving mental health and wellness. Each month will feature a different type of meditation practice. Students will begin by learning about the meditation topic and then doing a group practice. Topics will be chosen by Dr. Hendryx. The first topic is "an introduction to meditation". It will cover benefits of meditation, goals of meditation, and different basic breathing techniques. Each session will be 30mins-1hr. Students will sign up via a google sheets form as to limit the number of students in the yoga room. The max number of students is 20. In terms of COVID risk mediation, students will be asked to not attend if they have any of the following symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, headache, GI upset). Additionally, yoga mats will be adequately spaced out. The event will follow all wellness center protocol as instructed by Ms. Zemenak.
July 6, 2022 at 2:50 PMRejectedClub Involvement FairLECOM Med Erie - SGA07/06/202208/05/2022SGA would like to hold a club involvement fair for the new MS1 students and any MS2 students who would like more information about getting involved with the clubs on campus. The event will be held on campus back by the softball fields, weather pending. In the event of inclement weather, we will reschedule the event. Each club will have a table and will be required to have board members present to give information about how to get involved and to answer questions regarding their clubs.The tables for each club will be rented from Crazy Monkey here in Erie.The cost is $7 per table x 25 tables = $175. We are also hoping to have pizza from Virgil's Plate, estimated $28 per 24 cut pizza x 10 pizzas = $280, and water which we will buy in bulk from Sam's club, estimated $10 per 80 pack of water bottles X 4 = $40. The funding from both of these will come from our SGA funding. We are also requesting garbage bins or a dumpster for any waste from the food to be disposed of, if LECOM is able to provide these. We hope this event can allow everyone to get information about the clubs and begin pursuing their interests early in the semester! Set-up: SGA board members will facilitate delivery and pick-up of tables and food. Board members for each club will be present and responsible for setting up their club table and decorating however they would like. Clean-up: SGA board and club board members will assist with clean up of tables and any garbage left behind. Safety Measures: Vaccinated individuals can attend mask free given that the event is outdoors; unvaccinated will wear a mask and follow social distancing protocol. Security officer will be present for entire time.

The event will allow students to gain insight into some helpful tips. The event will be on October 17th from 6 PM – 7 PM. The three MS3 students that have been selected are Ronnie Lott, Sam Wlasowicz, and Jayleen Everett. The selected students have been approved by Dr.Kalmey. A google form will be provided ahead of time for students to submit any questions they want to ask the presenters. This will be a great event for students to gain some insight from peers that very recently went through the process.

I believe that this event presents as a meaningful opportunity for our club members to gather and support the greater Erie community. It also helps raise awareness and educate the public on Alzheimer’s, a pertinent disease that we will for sure be encountering in both our didactic and clinical education. The fundraiser walk will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025 and will be located at Perry Square, Erie, PA. Volunteers will help with set-up, passing out refreshments, help with advocacy efforts, and cheer along walk participants. The volunteering period will span from 7:00am - 11am. Participating volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt.
