September 25, 2024 at 6:52 PMApprovedAre you smarter than a MS-2?LECOM Med Erie - SGA09/25/202410/28/2024This will be a fun and engaging event to celebrate the end of anatomy and cardio for the first and second years. Second years can brush up on their knowledge and first years can show off what they just learned. It will be a good way to join the two classes as well. Students will participate in a jeopardy-style game in teams of 4 with topics including anatomy, embryology, and histology. There will be a chance to win prizes for the top 3 teams. This event will take place in LHC. To mitigate covid risks, we will ask anyone who is sick to please not attend.
April 20, 2023 at 2:33 PMExpiredAMMSA-LECOM: Eid CelebrationAMMSA04/20/202304/28/2023This was an already approved event. We decided to go forward with a guest speaker for our event and change the location. The guest speaker is Dr. Salman Muazzam Muddassir, the program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program from Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, FL. He will be joining us through Zoom to provide us with some words on Islam in Medicine. His contact information and CV are attached to this request and the new location is updated. During the Islamic month called Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset for 30 days and end with a celebration called Eid ul Fitr. We would like to host this celebration on April 28th at 7:00 PM at the Hammocks at Millcreek (4554 Hammocks Dr, Erie, PA 16506). We will be catering food from an outside vendor for dinner and are planning on charging $10 per person to help cover some of the expenses, and would like to use our budget to cover the remaining expenses. Educational purpose: Educate the campus about Eid traditions, celebrate an important Muslim holiday, and help diversify the community COVID mitigation plan: The event will take place in a space big enough for people to be spread out and mask enforcement will be followed based on the COVID case numbers. Vendor choices: As-Salam, Cleveland Grocers, Desi Khabba, or Paradise Biryani Pointe (we have not decided on a restaurant yet but these are our options)

February 11, 2019 at 4:10 PMRejectedBlaze Pizza FundraiserSOMA02/11/201902/25/2019This is the second fundraiser I wanted to organize for my health disparities coordinator position. The first one is the Jo Coffee fundraiser. Since we are raising money for 2 organizations, I thought 2 fundraiser events would raise enough money to donate to both. This one is simple. Students simply show up to Blaze Pizza and show them the flyer for our fundraiser and then Blaze will send a check back to us to donate to our causes. We will receive 20% of the sales profit. Then half of the money can be donated to Love and Hope Children's Home in El Salvador via their website to help buy medication for the children there. The other half will go to Dr. Mendez, an infectious disease physician, at the San Rafael Hospital in San Salvador. She will use the money to buy baby formula for HIV positive mothers and toward installing indoor plumbing for them.
