Each Friday evening during the length of Core (October 8 through November 24), SOMA students who are MS2s will provide a short review of the material and high yield topics for the MS1 students to focus their studies over the weekend for their tests on the following Mondays. These reviews will be virtual and held through either zoom or google meet. MS1 students will be alerted through email and their facebook group.

Sale from Friday Oct 9th - Friday Oct 16th (or ending sooner if all Shirts are claimed) The orders will all be delivered through socially distant pick up in the back parking lot of LECOM on October 19th from 1:30-3:30 PM. All payment will take place through Venmo (Convo 2020 Shirts -$15 each and Convo 2019 Shirts -$10 each). Masks and gloves worn by all during distribution (two people distributing shirts). Pre- Order Size —> All shirts in plastic bags with names written on for distribution. If Consent is given Pick ups for more than one shirt may be allowed to reduce # of people (Ex: roommates picking up). Any student that is unavailable to be on location to pick up t-shirt on 19th can pick up T-shirt during Designated OPP Weeks (Shirts Distributed During Lab Hours by Teachers (Dr. Esper) in Lab - these shirts will be Delivered to Main campus to sit for two weeks prior to each pod getting box for distributing t-shirt)

SOMA members who are MS2s will host a virtual anatomy review night that will encompass both of these areas. The event will be hosted virtually through zoom or Microsoft teams and will have small groups of students placed into breakout rooms. MS2 students will rotate through the breakout rooms to present and answer questions on their specific topics, including identification of anatomical structures, blood supply, innervation, lymph, and clinical correlates for each area. MS2 students will receive their topic and materials from the SOMA E-Board prior to the event so they can review and practice what they will say. This event will be held only virtually via zoom or Microsoft teams. The event will be advertised to MS1 students through email and facebook group posts.

We understand that the current circumstances have made fundraising events almost impossible, but Chipotle is accommodating fundraisers by providing a code that could be used for all online orders, so as to avoid large gatherings of people. Mentoring Club hopes to raise enough money to buy the YMCA Kids Club more games and equipment for their use, as a gesture that we are still supporting them, even if the public health emergency severely limits our ability to be involved.

September 11, 2020 at 2:22 PMApprovedColton ToyACOS-MSS09/11/202010/05/2020ACOS-MSS (formerly SOSA) is going to be working with SOMA to organize several Q&A sessions for MS2's regarding rotation experiences and what they can expect on certain rotations. We plan to have MS3's and MS4's sign up, plan meeting times and link, and answer some general questions about their encounters. 3rd and 4th year students will be participating with other students from the same site to give details about the site that could be really beneficial to MS2's as they prepare to do their rank. All the correspondence and collaboration involved with be virtual. The meetings for each set of students will be split up over the week and weekend scheduled and open to any MS2's to join as they wish.

September 1, 2020 at 2:06 PMApprovedAmerican Cancer Society #GoldTogether Champion CampaignOncology Club09/01/202009/01/2020The American Cancer Society is hosting a virtual "Relay for Life" - type event for awareness and fundraising for pediatric cancer. #GoldTogether Champions will virtually unite to make a greater impact and secure better outcomes for kids with cancer. The event lasts throughout the month of September, coinciding with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Every Tuesday, there are fun/interactive social media challenges to raise awareness for the cause, as well as encourage followers to donate to our LECOM Oncology team. All proceeds will directly benefit pediatric cancer causes (including childhood cancer research and physician education). The LECOM Oncology club is asking permission to create a LECOM team and raise money for a great cause!
August 29, 2020 at 5:15 PMApprovedBreast Cancer Awareness Pin Sale.Oncology Club08/29/202009/08/2020Oncology Club will be taking orders for Breast Cancer Awareness Pins prior to Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October), then distributing pins contactlessly by mail. We will begin taking orders as soon as approval is granted until mid-September. We will then order pins, and distribute them by mail once shipped. The pins will be sold for $5 each, with an expected profit of 30 cents per pin for Oncology Club. We do not expect to gain much money from this; the point is raising awareness. As such, we will include a small breast cancer fact/prevention/screening sheet with each pin in the package.
