This event will be put on by our advisor, Dr. Risavi, and will be hosted at the Kearsarge Fire Department. Any material needed for demonstrations or hands on will be supplied by ACOS MSS. The educational purpose of this event is to expose members of ACOS to the different types of suturing techniques. After speaking with upperclassman, they have expressed that it is extremely important to understand how to suture during surgical rotations. This event aims to helps students of any year to ask questions about suturing and learn the importance of different types of stiches. The following COVID-19 protocol will be strictly followed (if mandated at the time of the event): 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the event 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend 3.) We will sanitize before and after the event to avoid the potential spread of COVID

The attendees of the event will be club members of the Erie LECOM SAOAO chapter. Members will have to RSVP prior to attendance. The location will be the same Millcreek Hospital education meeting room where the orthopedic residents hold their weekly education meetings (Room 202). The content of the lecture will be basic plating technique/considerations as well as application and purpose of Ex-Fix. The orthopedic club will supply food for attendees in the form of Panera sandwiches.
November 26, 2023 at 5:37 PMApprovedPatagonia FundraiserSOMA11/26/202301/03/2024Due to the success of the Patagonia sale on our campus last year, and after being approached by multiple students asking to have the sale again, LECOM Erie SOMA is looking to duplicate the Patagonia sale that took place last year. The Patagonia's allowed for custom embroidery and will feature the school crest logo (attached). Event will take place remotely (with pick up at the school), in the early Spring Semester. Remote Fundraiser - Pick Up location at school. A Google Form will be sent out as soon upon event approval, and the sale will run through late January. The company we will be using is Threadfellows. Multiple types of Patagonia jackets will be offered, including vests, full zip jackets, and quarter zip jackets. Pick up will be COVID-safe in the LECOM cafeteria as students passing out and picking up orders will follow COVID protocols set forth by administration at the time of pick-up.

He will be discussing ALL things Pathology and how to become a competitive applicant to Pathology residency programs. 
November 16, 2023 at 11:59 AMApprovedGifts for Children's ShelterLECOM Med Erie - SGA11/16/202311/27/2023Purpose: LECOM SGA partnering with Pediatric Club would like to hold a service event for the holiday season. The event would involve students students donating toys from a list provided to us by Lutheran Bethesda Services, a local children's shelter. After completing their donations, students will drop off their gifts in a collection box kept outside of the security office, similar to other donation drives. Collection will begin on November 27 and end on December 13th. Each gift donation will count for 0.5 hours with a maximum of 3 hours (6 donations). Hours will count towards SSP and LECOM hours. Approval is still pending from Touch Point. After the collection date, the gifts will be delivered to Bethesda Lutheran Services. Please see below a PDF of the flyer for the event.

She will be sharing her journey throughout medical school, including in the classroom and rotations. There will also be a Q&A portion of the event at the end of the talk. Educational purpose: the educational purpose of this event is to provide a first-hand perspective from a current student who is able to closely relate to the ACOS members. This will be a fantastic opportunity to allow students to engage with upperclassman and ask questions about how she approached her medical school career. COVID mitigation protocols: this meeting will be held on zoom.

On 01/18/2024 we plan to hold a lecture and demonstration with chief resident Eric Goodrich. The content of the lecture will consist of basic plating for fractures and external fixation of fractures. At the request of Dr. Goodrich the lecture will take place at Millcreek Hospital in education room #5 (where the residents hold their weekly education meetings) as this is where the equipment/tools/fixation materials are located. The event will take 2 hours, with a 30 min Q&A session at the end of the lecture/demonstration. All tools will be used by Millcreek residents. LECOM students role will be purely observational.

People may donate up to 4 items for up to 2 service hours total, each item being .5 service hours. We will do a contactless delivery of products to mitigate COVID.

Several LECOM third and fourth year students who have already had a surgical rotation as well as our advisor, Dr. Risavi, will be working with the students to demonstrate and teach the skill of knot tying. Students will be asked to bring a shoelace for their own use. The educational purpose of this event is to introduce knot tying to medical students prior to rotations. After speaking with several third and fourth year students, they have expressed the importance of this skill during their surgical rotation. Location: LECOM Cafeteria Purpose: To provide a comfortable venue for mentors and mentees to meet and discuss various topics and questions. Funding: We will be using SGA funds to purchase donuts. The general breakdown of the event will be that SGA members will arrive with the donuts at 6:50am and make sure we are ready to host all the mentors and mentees. From 7:00am to 7:50am, mentors and mentees can meet in the cafeteria and discuss how everything is going so far in medical school over a donut. For the last 10 minutes, SGA members will ensure that everything in the cafeteria is cleaned up.
