Hispanic Heritage Month is from September 15th to October 15th and Dr. David Figueroa has accepted the invitation to speak to students on his experience into and within medicine as an underrepresented minority. SNMA is focused on supporting current and future underrepresented minority medical students and we believe it is important to highlight different cultures to give students increased medical cultural competency. Dr. David Figueroa is a psychiatrist and is affiliated with Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie. He obtained his medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and his Master of Science in medical education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry and his residency at LECOM. Dr. David Figueroa will discuss his path to medicine and discuss the influence of Hispanic Culture on treatment of care. There will be an opportunity for students to ask any questions of interest as well!
