This will be an excellent opportunity for students to hear about the journey of MS4s who were once in their shoes. We will be playing bingo and spending time with the residents. Dr. Melodie will be attending the event with us. Students will help the staff bring the residents down to the common area for bingo, help them play, then help staff return them to their quarters after. The bingo supplies will be provided by the Senior Living Center activities director, and Dr. Melodie has offered to bring some prizes for the residents, such as puzzles, word search books, and coloring books. It will give students an opportunity to get involved with the community and enjoy an evening with the residents of the care center.

The Radiology club is partnering with Dr. Melodie Chludzinski to assist with a previously planned bingo night. Up to 10 student volunteers will attend to help with set-up, gameplay and clean up. Residents will play for prizes, purchased by Dr. Melodie. Our students will attend wearing casual, LECOM branded attire. They will have the opportunity to interact with SLC residents with empathetic listening. We will share our perspectives as students and speak about our interests in the Radiology specialty. We hope to make a positive impact on the resident’s lives even if only for a few hours.

The Sight Center of Northwest PA sorts through the glasses and will decide which ones to keep for people in the community, then they also outsource the rest of the glasses to other organizations such as Lions Club international and others. I am in contact with Pam Masi from the Sight Center. Her email is pamm@sightcenternwpa.org. We will empty the bin at the end of each day to ensure that it does not get full. The intention is also to have students earn service hours for donating (the usual 1 hour for 2 items, maximum of 2 hours able to be earned). After the week of collection, we would deliver all the donated glasses to the Sight Center. Dr. Chris Buzas is the advisor for the club, however, he is not an option under the "advisor information" drop down menu. I have submitted a support request for this.

To bring students together in this spirit, we would like to request approval to host an Eid Celebration Dinner on Friday, April 4th, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM at the LECOM Education Center (2951 W 38th St, Erie, PA 16506). We kindly request to reserve the East Hall and one classroom for this event. Dinner will be catered from a local vendor (TBD) using club funds. Pickup and delivery of the food will be handled by board members. Additionally, all cleanup responsibilities will be managed by our board members. We will bring extra trash bags and ensure that the space is left in the same condition as we found it. The club has hosted 2 events at the same venue within the past month; everything ran smoothly and all cleanup was properly handled. PLEASE NOTE: Kindly inform the security guard at the LECOM Education Center about our event. March 24, 2025 at 11:10 AMApprovedOrtho Club Chipotle FundraiserSAOAO03/24/202504/28/2025This event will be a fundraiser for the orthopedics club (SAOAO) to acquire funding to allow the club to hold suturing and a casting clinic later in the year. The club will send out information about the fundraiser code that participants will provide to allow their purchases to go toward supporting the club. Participants will also be able to use the code for online orders as well. Chipotle has approved the fundraiser which will be held at the Peach street Chipotle. On April 28th from 5-9 pm anyone who goes into chipotle and tells the staff that they are participating in the fundraiser their purchase will count toward the event. There is also a code that people wishing to participate can enter for online orders to show that they are part of the fundraiser. The Club is not allowed to be onsite or advertise at the location during the fundraiser time. In order to advertise this event we will send out an email with the time and date asking people to support the club. Chipotle has provided an email address to help with any questions (fundraisers@chipotle.com).

This event will occur between April 14-18th and is open to all students and faculty. We want to set up a collection bin at the main entrance by the security office. COLLECTION BIN WILL BE CHEKED DAILY TO PREVENT OVERFLOW. The donations include canned goods, pasta, dish soap, etc. A flier with all the donations is attached and will be sent to those who wish to volunteer. There will be a sheet to track the type of donations and who donates. On April 18th, we will be bringing the donations to the drop off site. Every item will be worth 0.5 hours of community service with a maximum of 2 hours.

Educational Purpose: Dr. Philip will discuss the profession and the path she took during medical school and residency to get to the field of pediatric neurology. After speaking she will answer any questions about her experience in the field. The event will be held over Zoom on either Thursday, March 27 at 6:30pm or Thursday, April 3 at 6:30pm. March 27th is preferred, however April 3rd is more likely, though we may hold it on the sooner date if approved in time.

We can accommodate around 15 people per event. Fitness/nutrition is a huge passion of mine which led me to become a NASM certified personal trainer and nutrition coach during undergrad. I hope to instill this passion onto everyone at LECOM and make fitness fun for all.

The advisor of the society is Alicea Chudzinski. The volunteers will help lead an anatomy lesson, including stretching, visual aids, and coloring sheets. The workshop will be in place to help the dancers learn anatomy important for learning flexibility and longevity in the sport. Stretching will include flexibility exercises that the dancers can do to warm up for practice, competition, or improve movement to reduce injuries or enhance abilities. Anatomy will be included in the event as well to provide a more detailed basis for as to why stretching is important for dance. As for volunteers, walking around and helping the dancers with anatomy and stretches will prove to reinforce anatomy lessons learned earlier in the year, as well as getting sports medicine club members experience working with athletes.

Members who have paid dues upon joining either club are eligible to sign up as volunteers for this event. The event is scheduled for Monday, April 14th, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. The VA Hospital has requested that we limit participation to 4 volunteers. Two individuals will manage the bingo stand, while the other two will assist on the floor by checking bingo cards and ensuring a smooth experience for participants. For prizes, we plan to distribute $2 cash to each winner. Currently, this is a one-time event; however, if successful, we hope to establish it as a recurring event on a weekly, biweekly, or monthly basis, depending on the hospital's capacity. Any event-related concerns should be directed to Natalie Woznicki, Recreation Therapist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, who played a key role in organizing the event and will be providing guidance. Additionally, at least one executive board member—President Pietro Elliott, Vice President Sanjana Dasari, Secretary Elle McGregor, or Treasurer Lucas Nguyen—will be present to ensure the event runs smoothly.

They will be sold school-wide for one dollar and are a convenient way for students to have the cranial portion of what we learn in OPP on hand. Dr. Cukierski will be reformatting the attached card to improve it, however it will have the same information. Once printed, the cards will be distributed to students during the lunch hour.
March 12, 2025 at 10:12 AMApprovedBLS CertificationEmergency Medicine03/12/202504/12/2025We would like to give our members the opportunity to participate in a Basic Life Support (BLS) Training Course run by Dr. Risavi and other certified instructors. This event will be held on Saturday, April 12, from 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM and will provide students with both skills practice and skills testing required for BLS certification. The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Course is designed to equip healthcare providers with the essential skills needed to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. Training will cover high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), effective ventilations with a barrier device, relief of choking in responsive and unresponsive victims, and the importance of early recognition and intervention in cardiac arrest situations. Following the hands-on practice session, students will complete the skills testing component necessary for certification. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive their AHA BLS Provider e-card certification via email. All necessary equipment for training will be provided by Dr. Risavi. An excel sign-up sheet will be available for students to register, with a maximum of 25 participants allowed. Students will adhere to current LECOM COVID regulations throughout the event. This is an excellent opportunity to develop life-saving skills, interact with fellow students, and gain an essential certification for clinical rotations and future medical practice. We encourage all interested students to sign up and take advantage of this valuable training experience!

This event will take place from 3/31/25-4/4/25 and will be a donation drive for items requested by the Mercy Women's Health Center. 2 items are equivalent to 1 hour and a maximum of 2 hours (4 items) can be earned for volunteer credit. Any and all donations are appreciated and will be accepted. The center is in need of the following items: Antibacterial soap Hand towels Wash cloths Kitchen towels Tissue boxes Diapers Baby wipes Items will be registered with club supervisors via google sheet that will include student name and email for verification of items received/claimed. Items will be collected and stored off-site at end of day each day at 5PM to prevent overflow of in the North Entrance hallway.

Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims, during which they fast from dawn to sunset for 30 days. Iftaar is the meal with which we break our fast at sunset, and this event will provide an opportunity for AMMSA members to come together, take a mental break from studying, and share a meaningful meal in a supportive community setting. To facilitate this event, we kindly request to reserve the East Hall and one classroom. We will be hosting this dinner potluck style; therefore, food will be provided by the attendees. Additionally, all cleanup responsibilities will be handled by our board members. We will bring extra trash bags and ensure the space is left in the same condition as we found it. We recently hosted a similar event on Friday, March 7th, which ran smoothly. Given our experience, we anticipate this event will be just as successful. March 9, 2025 at 8:09 PMApprovedInternational Trauma and Life Support Training CertificationACOS-MSS03/09/202507/31/2025LECOM ACOS-MSS is excited to provide members an opportunity to obtain an International Trauma Life Support Certification. Dr. Risavi will be leading the event which will consist of several lectures as well as hands-on skills stations with a practical assessment at the end. This is an opportunity for members to obtain hands-on experience and to learn new skills that are essential for any specialty. The training covers vitals trauma skills such as trauma assessment, neck and spine stabilization, and airway stabilization. Additionally, this certification is similar to a certification that is required during Emergency Medicine and General Surgery residency (advanced trauma life support), allowing members to gain valuable knowledge on information for the future. This certification and skillset will contribute to developing students into well-rounded physicians and add to their unique resume during residency interviews. This will be an amazing opportunity to allow students to gain hands-on experience and knowledge, while also being able to obtain a certification. The ITLS certification will last all members 3 years. Members who decide to participate will need to purchase and read ITLS for Emergency Care Providers – 9th edition from VitalSource or Amazon. Additionally, the certification itself will cost approximately $30. The anticipated event will be held on the following dates and times: July 31st: 530pm - 10pm August 1st: 7:30am - 5pm August 2nd: 7:30am - 3pm As there are multiple skills stations and lectures, we are requesting lecture hall A in addition to the OPP lab to be reserved on the second floor. We will work with Dr. Kalmey’s office to ensure that the training does not overlap with the MS1 orientation. Our advisor, Dr. Risavi will be present. There will also be several other clinicians to assist Dr. Risavi with the event and help administer the practicals. We are capping the participation at 25 students to allow for a meaningful experience for all. Furthermore, here are the COVID protocols that I ensure are upheld at all ACOS events: 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who attends the event. 2.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending. 3.) We will abide by LECOMs current mask policy at the time of the event.

Students will donate highly needed items to Grady's Decision, a non-profit organization that helps families who are experiencing financial, spiritual, and emotional hardships as they care for their premature babies. We are hoping to collect items for 20 - 30 families The items needed/donated include the following supplies: -Rattles -Pacifier / Wubbanub -Gas Gift Card -Food Gift Cards -Books -Burp Cloths -Diapers -Wipes -Children's outfits -Chocolates/gum/candy for mother -Handwritten notes -Travel size stuff for an apartment for 30 days / mental health (for mom): hand sanitizer/lotions/journals 20 - 30 families if possible - Grady's Decision will supplement if we cannot The clubs will purchase bags from our club funds to put all the donated items into the gift bags for the families A spreadsheet will be sent out to the student body to 'sign up' for needed items that together will comprise 20-30 Easter baskets. Ex: 20 spaces for people to sign up for pacifiers/Wubbanub, 20 spaces for people to sign up for rattles, etc. This will ensure we have equal materials for each basket being donated We will set up a collection box in LECOM's front office during the week so students can drop off their donated items. We wanted to hold a box by security in the front lobby for the week of April 7th - April 16th Then on April 16th, we would like to hold an event at LECOM, where members would put the baskets together for the NICU and for the e-board members of the WHMS and Pediatrics club to deliver them to Grady's Decision non-profit for distribution on April 18th In addition, we were hoping to have a Zoom event with one of Grady's Decision organization board members to come and talk about their experience of giving these gifts and what it means to the patient's family. I think this would be amazing for the students to see their impact on the patients and where their donations are going.
