This is an incredible opportunity for students to give back to the community through a life-saving cause. Educational Purpose: This drive is not only a way to help patients in need of bone marrow transplants, but also a volunteer opportunity for our members to engage in healthcare advocacy and community service. We’ve ordered 75 cheek swab kits from the official Be the Match organization. Participants will provide a DNA sample by swabbing the inside of their cheek and placing the swab in a sterile tube provided in the kit. The process is quick, painless, and can potentially save a life. One member from each club will be stationed at our sign-up table to answer questions and assist participants with the swabbing process. We are planing to host the event every day at lunch from Monday October 27 - Thursday October 30th

Educational Purpose: Dr. Paul Tran will discuss the profession and the path he took during medical school and residency to get into the field of pediatric gastroenterology. After speaking, he will answer any questions about his experience in the field. We plan to hold the evnt over Zoom or Microsoft teams on Wednesday, October 15th from 5-6pm in Lecture Hall C
September 29, 2025 at 12:52 PMApprovedMock Anatomy Practical #3ACOS-MSS09/29/202510/10/2025ACOS will be working alongside Dr. Kulesza in setting up the third and final mock practical, with both a written and oral component for all MS1s to help prepare for their exam. Dr. Kulesza will be present throughout the day and will help to set up. We are opening up assistance in preparation for the mock exam to SPM and MS2s so that students can gain volunteer hours for their time. I will work with the SGA webmaster to ensure volunteer hours are approved. The written component will take place in the Cadaver lab while the oral will be held in the study rooms. We will also be having a PBL mock practical at the same time happening in Case Room 117. The educational purpose of this event is to prepare MS1's for their anatomy practical. It will be performed exactly as the real practical to allow students to gauge their level of understanding of the material.

We will be organizing volunteers for MS2 H&P practical practice, MS1 H&P practical practice, the senior living center Halloween volunteering event, and the International Aids Day event in December. Food will be provided for dinner. We are also waiting on a response from a Dr. Kalata regarding a family medicine resident from LECOM Medical Center and Behavioral Health Pavilion to come present a cardiac case they encountered recently and demonstrate clinical decision making while guiding members through the case.

We will be hosting a Halloween celebration at the senior living center on October 31st from 3:30-6:30pm. Residents of the center who wish to participate will be encouraged to paint a pumpkin, play soft pumpkin/ring toss, and trick or treat around the atrium with booths created and staffed by LECOM club members. Invitations are being sent to different clubs currently and if necessary, the event can be downsized or upsized depending on student response and we are working with the recreation coordinator at the SLC to verify activities are acceptable for all residents who wish to join.

The event will be from 4:30-6:30pm on December 4th in the OPP lab. The first hour will be open lab with PCSP students floating around to answer any questions you may have. The second will consist of a graded practice practical that will follow the same format as the final administered by Dr. Coughlin. SOAP notes will not be graded but we encourage you all to test your writing in the 9 minute window once you are home! This will take place in the OPP lab so OPP attire is appropriate. Please ensure to bring all equipment including a drape and something to write with! In preparation, we hope to collect candy donations from October 20th - October 29th to hand out to the kids. We also would like to hold a trunk-decorating volunteer event on the 29th from 6-7pm in the LECOM parking lot to organize the candy we will be handing out on the 30th and to put together decorations for the trunk-or-treat event.

Learning how to tie 1 and 2 handed surgical knots is an extremely beneficial skill for medical students to learn prior to surgical rotations. This will allow students to engage in hands on learning and to network with fellow surgery club members.

The Community Blood Bank will send us a form to distribute to students regarding who will qualify for blood donations and how to make an appointment. We would have the event from November 17th to the 21st, where SAAO would encourage students to make an appointment to donate in order to earn 2 volunteer hours. The session will include practical instruction on basic signs that can be useful during patient interactions. We are also working to have a member of the deaf community join to share their experiences and the challenges they face in communicating their healthcare needs. This is a valuable opportunity to gain skills that can improve patient care and enhance clinical communication.

This is a collaborative event with Pediatrics Club. The event will be held at Around the Post. We will be charging students $8 per person to join the tournament. Anyone not actively participating in the tournament can pay $3 to have pizza. Students are welcome to wear appropriate/non-polarizing costumes to the tournament that do not pose a trip/fall/sight hazard. We will be hosting a costume contest for those who choose to dress up. Participants may enter the costume contest as individuals or pairs. Both the winners of the tournament and the best costume will win a prize! We will have injury support for the event.

Educational Purpose: This panel will highlight the physicians’ unique journeys through medical school, residency, and fellowship, offering insight into the different pathways to a career in pediatric allergy and immunology. It would occur on Wednesday, October 1st from 6pm to 7pm at Presque Isle Beach 6. It will be open to all students, faculty, and staff. The instructor for the yoga class is Neeya Shetty. She is a current M2 with a RYT 200 yoga instructor certification. Students will be asked to bring their own yoga mat or beach towel for the class.
August 29, 2025 at 4:35 PMCompleteWhite Coat Embroidery CollectionFamily Medicine Club08/29/202509/15/2025Collection of white coats from the MS1 white coat ceremony the weekend prior. ***will be collaborating with Women's Health & Medical Society*** SAACOFP would like to host the annual white coat embroidery fundraiser. We will offer name, LECOM shield, and pronoun embroidery. Currently the cost is still being determined by Women's Health Club. We expect it to be similar to last year and costs will be obvious on the order form that each student must print, fill out, and bring alongside their coat for drop off. Drop off will be to a family medicine club executive board member in the cafeteria from 12-12:20 September 15-19. Coats will be returned to students in about 4 weeks to allow them to be collected prior to their H&P practical examinations. Dates for pickup will be in a similar format from 12-12:20 Monday-Friday. Attached is a shield logo that will be utilized. It is also the same as previous years. *This is a cash only event
