March 19, 2019 at 7:40 AMApprovedEmergency Medicine Club Tourniquet SalesEmergency Medicine03/19/201904/16/2019This event is aimed at preparing our students for one of the worst possible scenarios they may come across in their day to day lives. Building off of the Wilderness Medicine Club's first aid kit sale, it is common to carry a tourniquet alongside your kit for dire circumstances. Current research shows the significant decrease in traumatic mortality when a tourniquet is applied to uncontrollable extremity bleeds. We hope that by running this fundraiser our students will be safer and better prepared for the unforeseen circumstances that have unfortunately become all too common in today's day and age. The cost for each unit will be at most will be $29.99; however depending on number we are looking at ordering in bulk to reduce cost for our students. February 27, 2019 at 4:39 PMCancelledJaci SummersSOMA02/27/201903/07/2019This is a follow up proposal for my International Health Disparities project which I've been elected to complete for SOMA class of 2021. I'd like to nominate our support for International Rescue Committee. This organization is very well known and has been around for quite some time. They are based out of New York and they have received 4 stars from Charity Navigator. Their primary goal is to respond to humanitarian crises all over the world as well as in the U.S, including bringing primary care to refugees and at risk populations. Here is the website if you would like further information: https://www.rescue.org/what-we-do. This organization spends 89% of its budget on programs, which mean the majority of our funds raised for them will go to helping people in need. I would still like to use the coffee fundraiser as mentioned before from Jo Coffee, since we will be getting 42% of sales toward our fundraiser. Other fundraisers I've looked into do not offer this much turn around on sales. Once the orders are finished being placed, I would submit the order and then the coffee would be delivered to LECOM for me to distribute to students who have purchased. Then once LECOM has recieved the fundraiser check from the coffee company we can easily make the payment to IRC online. Please let me know if there is anything I can clarify and I welcome any feedback on this project. Thank you for considering my request.
