March 22, 2026 at 11:30 PMRejectedStaff vs Students Softball GameDO2 Max Club03/22/202605/01/2026A fun and friendly softball event for all students and staff at LECOM. As the year is coming to an end we want to use this as an opportunity to bring all of LECOM together before many of us go away for the summer. Thus we are planning on hosting a softball game against willing faculty to lift the spirits of all participants as we near the end of this long semester. It can also be a social event where we can have food for sale like typical baseball or softball items like cracker jacks, chips, and sunflower seeds as a fundraising opportunity with everyone not participating just coming to watch the game and socialize! These will be purchased from Sam's Club using our clubs funds and sold at a food stand by our board members that are not participating. This event will be a 7 inning softball game between staff and students located at the softball field on campus. The initial date will be Friday May 1st at 6 pm with a rainout date of May 8th also at 6 pm. The game will last all 7 innings, 2 hours, or until it gets too dark to see whichever comes first. I, Tyler Weber, have experience being a softball umpire and will do so for this game unless another staff member or student would like to step in and do so. Gloves will not be supplied so that will be on each participating individual to bring their own. Bats and balls will be supplied for the game. Staff and students will sign up via a google form which will be sent out 2 weeks before the event and close 3 days before. If there are not enough staff that sign up their team will be filled with students to make a complete team. Teams will be maxed out at 16 participants to allow for substitutions (this number may be extended). If we have more students or staff to sign up than slots available we will attempt to accommodate if possible, but in the instance that it is not we will select participants based off a random lottery which will take place once the google form has closed. The random lottery will be completed by a 3rd party with no involvement in the event to ensure fairness and transparency in the selection process. All selected participants will be notified via email within 24 hours of the lottery being completed, along with any additional details regarding game logistics, arrival time, and expectations for participation. To maintain a safe and enjoyable environment, all participants will be expected to adhere to basic sportsmanship guidelines and any campus policies in place. Waivers may be required prior to participation, and we will coordinate with campus administration to ensure all necessary approvals, risk management considerations, and event support are in place. Overall we aim to produce a fun environment for all to attend!

January 30, 2022 at 1:48 PMApprovedSt. Patrick's Day Card Drive for St. Mary's Senior CenterSOMA01/30/202203/07/2022Proposed dates: Monday March 7th through March 11th Alternate dates: Monday March 14th through Wednesday March 16th Idea: SOMA will be putting together a St. Patrick’s Card Drive. This will be a contactless event, and we propose having collection boxes in the cafeteria. Students will be able to leave their cards for collection. Cards will be picked up at the end of the drive by Co-Chair Paarth Sharma or Co-Chair Smaran Teru. We will advertise this event to the entire Class of 2024 and class of 2025, so they are able to participate. At the conclusion of the card drive, we will arrange a date and time to drop off the cards to St. Mary’s Senior Center. This will be done in a contact-free manner. Why: SOMA wants to create a COVID-safe opportunity for students to get involved in the Erie community. Having this card drive creates an event that allows LECOM students to reach out and be involved with the school and community.
March 22, 2021 at 6:38 PMApprovedSt. Mary's Virtual Card DriveSOMA03/22/202104/05/2021SOMA will be putting together a card making event. St. Mary's of Erie has requested that SOMA try to collect cards to give to their residents for Easter/Spring. This will be a contactless event, and we propose having card collection boxes at all three campus locations, either outside or inside the first set of doors, so Hybrid students are able to donate at their respective campuses. An officer from SOMA, who is already a hybrid student at each campus location, will be responsible for dropping off the box/envelope on Monday and collecting it on Friday. Kaitlyn is a hybrid PBL student at Bayfront and would be responsible for the Bayfront collection box; Rachel is a hybrid student at West and would be responsible for the West collection box; Garrett and Ellie are hybrid students at Main and would be responsible for the Main collection box. We will advertise this event to the entire Class of 2024, and LECOM Erie Community, so they are able to participate. Our option for online students to participate will be for them to mail their cards either directly to St. Mary's or have the option of mailing cards to Main to be put in the collection box, then all cards will be turned in at once. At the conclusion of the Card drive, SOMA will arrange a date and time to drop off the cards at St. Mary’s. This will be done in a contact-free manner.
