Each student will be provided with their own suture gel pad and equipment that they make take with them for additional practice. We will continue to use Vora Lounge for the hand-tying portion of the clinic, directly following the dinner portion of the meeting. We would like to use the Micro lab for the actual suturing portion of the clinic.

This event will be held at Kearsarge Fire Hall on November 8th from 6-8PM. Dr. Risavi will be leading the suture clinic.

The voter registration would take place from September 30th, October 3rd & October 4th during lunch in the cafeteria (we can also move it to another week) and we would like to host an event for students called, "Voting As a Medical Student." via Zoom on October 19th at 6PM. Medical students and medical professionals are expected to be leaders in their communities. Civic engagement is part of leadership. SNMA has partnered with an organization called Vot-ER, founded by an emergency physician at Mass General Hospital. They focus on creating a stronger healthcare system by empowering patients, healthcare providers, and health professional students to vote. This work is particularly important given the impact of COVID. They have created a badge backer that makes it easy to have a person register to vote on their own phone or request a mail-in ballot to vote at home this election cycle. The platform walks them through either process in 90 seconds or less. Now, as ever, civic engagement is crucial to protecting and improving the health of the patients and communities we serve. Vot-ER is a strictly nonprofit, nonpartisan organization. And it is the individual who chooses to engage and does so on their own device. We simply aim to provide the tools for individuals to be engaged with the system and have a chance to make their voice heard on issues that matter to them. It will be a great opportunity to introduce them to OMM and to foster collaboration when they become practicing professionals. We plan to give a brief introduction to OMM and then diagnose and treat them afterwards. All of this will be supervised by a faculty member from the OPP department. COVID mitigation plan: We will follow the protocols set out by the school. And there are hand sanitizers available for use throughout the OPP lab.

Purpose Students will gain hands-on experience interacting with patients and apply osteopathic manipulative medicine techniques to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal dysfunctions. II. Background Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Erie campus) is renowned for its osteopathic medical education. Despite its strong educational framework, there is a lack of extracurricular opportunities to interact directly with patients during the preclinical years, which would be essential for medical student professional development and preparation for clerkship years. This lack of accessible clinical experiences prompted the idea for this clinic. It aims to bridge the gap by offering real-world practice opportunities for osteopathic medical students. Exposure to osteopathic manipulative treatment in practice can reinforce their understanding and appreciation of osteopathic principles, thereby fostering a deeper commitment to the methods and practices they are taught. Furthermore, the establishment of this clinic is not only beneficial for the students but also for the community. It provides an essential service to underserved populations, improving healthcare access and outcomes. By integrating osteopathic practices into community healthcare, the clinic promotes the growth and recognition of osteopathy as a vital component of modern medicine. III. Goals and Objectives  Goals: 1. Create a dynamic learning environment where osteopathic medical students can apply their knowledge and hone their clinical skills under the guidance of experienced DOs. 2. Implement best practices for clinic administration, including efficient patient flow, accurate record-keeping, and compliance with healthcare regulations. 3. Provide accessible, high-quality osteopathic manipulative treatment to underserved populations, improving overall health outcomes within the community. 4. Position the clinic as a leading example of osteopathic care within the community, fostering greater acceptance and utilization of osteopathic medical practices.  Objectives: 1. Enhance community health by providing osteopathic manipulative treatment to 10 patients per clinic session. 2. Organize 1 clinic session per month, potentially increasing the number of monthly sessions after the first year. IV. Description  Duration: Each clinic visit will span approximately one hour, allowing time for students and preceptors to engage in practice and patient care.  Location: On campus or Plaza 38 Medical Center  Patient visit: • Mass emails will be sent to invite LECOM faculty, staff, and students as clinic patients. • Prior to each clinic session, all students will participate in preparatory sessions. These sessions will ensure uniformity in approach and readiness among students. • Patient records will be kept as e-charts • One first-year and one second-year student will work together for each visit: o First-year student: Observes and assists with documentation o Second-year student: Conducts history/physical examination, formulates diagnoses, and develops a treatment plan based on findings • The attending physician reviews the students' findings and guides the treatment process. They will provide feedback and reassessment of patient dysfunctions. • The second-year student will perform osteopathic manipulative treatments on the patient and reassess dysfunctions with the attending physician. • Plan for future visit Clinic dates for The 2026 academic year are as follows: 1/7, 2/4, 3/4, 4/1, 5/6. Students will arrive to the clinic by 17:00 to prepare for patients to arrive at 17:30 for the start of the clinic.

The purpose of this event is for students to explore the connections they might have with people they wouldn't normally interact with. The event will consist of two parts. Part one: participating COM students will be placed into randomized groups led by group leaders to ensure everyone participates in sharing contacts in fields their peers may be interested in. Part two: participating COM students will informally mingle, explore, and build on the connections they made in part one. This will facilitate exchange of useful information between classmates.

The Erie County Medical Society will be supplying equipment for "Stop the Bleed" and students will be assisting in teaching the public.

The purpose of Stop the Bleed is to be able to react in a mass casualty situation to control bleeding at the scene. Students will obtain tools from "Stop the Bleed" in order to effectively teach the students. Amanda Lencyk from Mercy Hospital in Ohio will bring the equipment for the event at Gannon on 10/23 at 6pm. Zach Weisner, MS-II has a confirmation email from Ms. Lencyk stating she will be supplying the mannequins, PowerPoint presentation, and sign up sheets.

After designing one sticker for the club, we will also incorporate designs the kids themselves will make at the club. These designs are coloring pages that promote the Mentoring Club. As a club, we will select a few kid's designs to sell to the LECOM body! These designs will be included in the sticker "pack" that will also have some uplifting stickers as well. To better facilitate the management of the sale, we will send out a Google form to club members for purchase, so we can organize the finances & sticker pack pick-up as efficiently as possible. Attached below are the designs we were thinking of selling. The sticker design is one formed by the officers, while the coloring pages are the ones the kids will have a chance to design themselves.
