Our club previously did service with this app and each call answered from the Be My Eyes app counts as 1 hours of community service. We were thinking this is a perfect opportunity to be able to get service hours at the end of the semester and over the summer.February 22, 2019 at 2:01 PMApprovedBasketball Tournament Fundraiser for Colorectal CancerInternal Medicine Club02/22/201903/23/2019This event will consist of a 3v3 basketball tournament in the LECOM Wellness Center gymnasium. These sessions have been requested by first-year students. As first-years work their way through the systems curriculum of Basic and Clinical Neuroscience, OMS2s will host short, virtual review nights of the material and high yield topics. SOMA students will coordinate review content with Dr. Kulesza for the specific aspects of neuroanatomy as well as other faculty members for other content areas that are covered. These reviews will be held over Zoom, which will allow for social distancing because of the virtual nature of the event and no in-person assembly is required. SOMA members will be notified of review nights and it's corresponding review material via email. Our goal in doing so is to help bridge the gap that OMS1's have had with transitioning into more difficult content and systems.August 2, 2020 at 1:23 PMApprovedBasic Airway ManagementEmergency Medicine08/02/202009/04/2020Instructor: Dr. Risavi The LECOM Emergency Medicine Club is requesting to host a course on Basic Airway Management where Dr. Risavi will cover basic techniques used to secure patient airways in an emergency situation. One thing they expressed that they are in need of are new backpacks. We plan to hold a fundraiser to collect new backpacks to donate to the USCRI. We will be asking for adult-size backpacks so even as the children grow they will still be able to use them. The goal of this is to provide a thoughtful donation to better the lives of our new community members by enabling them to get an education or travel with ease as they adjust to their new life here in Erie. There will be donation boxes set up in the main entrance lobby of LECOM Main. SOMA members will check the boxes once a day to ensure donation collection and neatness of the area and at the end of the drive deliver donated backpacks to USCRI. Since donations will be able to be made individually, students will be able to social distance and will be required to follow LECOM recommendations on masking during the duration of the drive.July 27, 2023 at 12:25 PMApprovedBack-to-school donation drive for the MCRCInternational Medical Society07/27/202308/14/2023Erie's Multicultural Resource Center (MCRC) is a non-profit organization that helps provide a variety of educational and social services including housing, employment programs, and other supplies to the to the Latino, refugee, immigrant, and New American populations in Erie. As IMS club is focused on promoting diversity as well as serving all kinds of communities, we find working along the MCRC to align with our club goals. The MCRC is currently in need of all sorts of school supplies (listed below) for their young adult and student populations returning for the new school year. We would collect donations from August 14th to August 20th via a donation box set up near the LECOM's security office. Then, deliver the items on August 21st to the MCRC center. We are hoping for each item to be worth 0.5 volunteer hours, with the max of 2 hours per person. And possibly having backpacks be worth 2 whole volunteer hours due to the larger cost commitment. pencils/pens fun erasers sharpeners graphing, lined, plain paper folders colored pencils/crayons markers notebooks gluesticks highlighters binders backpacksApril 12, 2019 at 2:37 PMApprovedASL & Deaf educationAllies04/12/201905/09/2019A student reached out to me with a contact she has from her time at Gannon.
