This event will be given via Zoom by Dr. Elizabeth Zona. She is an addiction medicine specialist who was recommended to us by one of our MMS students! Some example topics that will be covered are: -her background and why she chose to pursue Addiction Med -current fellowship programs available and their general curriculum -the Neurobiology of Addiction -her average work day -potential practice options (inpatient vs outpatient models). Given that one of SOMA's pillars is to educate on opioid use and addiction in general, we thought this would be a good topic to have a presentation on! We will send out a sign up sheet, Zoom link, and form to submit questions for Dr. Zona as soon as this event is approved. The event will be via Zoom on 10/18 (already checked and coordinated with MMS, MS1, and MS2 exam schedules) from 6-7:30PM. Dr. Thielman and Dr. Lee have already consulted and agreed to this event.

This drill will be multi-disciplinary and multi-agency involving physicians, RN staff, pre-hospital responders, administration, radiology, and many more healthcare professionals. It will give our members the chance to interact with healthcare providers within the community and help improve mass casualty response within these agencies. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students to participate in shifts and masks will be worn to adhere to COVID Regulations. Since this event is helping with educational training, we will offer volunteer hours for participant’s time. This event will be held on March 29th at Emergycare (ECI) 1926 Peach St, Erie from 0700-1700.
	November 7, 2022 at 9:28 AM	Expired	ACOS: Suturing Clinic Series	ACOS-MSS	11/07/2022	12/02/2022	ACOS-MSS would like to provide the opportunity for interested students to continue strengthening their suturing skills while ensuring that all COVID protocols are thoroughly followed. Students will be using a Medarchitect suture kit that we annually provide for our members. The kit includes a silicone pad, curved mosquito forceps, Hecar needle holder, Adson forceps, surgical scissors, scalpel handle w/ blades, and a variety of suturing materials. Students will not be using a scalpel at any point during the workshop. A Sharp’s container will be present to collect disposed suturing needles. Additionally, I will ensure that a first aid kit is available in case any needle poke injuries occur. Dr. Falk is looking into getting pig's feet for the event but this is not finalized yet, so we will be planning on using the suturing pads. If pig's feet are available, we will have disposable placemats and disinfecting wipes to thoroughly clean the lab tables afterward. The event details are as follows: December 2nd from 5pm-7:30pm: Suturing clinic (Microbiology lab) led by Dr. Chludzinski with the assistance of Dr. Falk and additional faculty. Furthermore, here are the COVID protocols that I ensure are upheld at all ACOS events: 1.) We will have a full roster of every individual who has signed up for the clinic 2.) We will have a check-in for all members and staff who attend the suturing clinic 3.) We will require masks, and uphold social distancing of at least 6 feet 4.) We will sanitize before and after the suturing clinic and mentorship discussion to avoid the potential spread of COVID 5.) We will create a screening form for all members that sign up and require that they disclose any signs and symptoms, travel history, and close contact history prior to attending The educational purpose of this event is to continue to build upon the suturing techniques introduced to students so that they are well-versed in knowledge and skill for their surgery rotation.

For MS1, we will be giving out "The Ultimate Medical School Rotation Guide" by Stewart H. Lecker and Bliss J. Chang For MS2, we will be giving out " Clinical Pharmacology by James Olson, M.D., Ph.D. Prior Planning: Anthony Dicecca and Khin Oo will purchase/ order the items. Set up: SGA Board - Khin Oo, Anthony Dicecca, Tyler Dobratz, Serene Bahi, Ananya Koka, William Kim, and Abhay Dhillon + New SGA Board will set up items in the Vora lounge at 11:30 am. All items are individually wrapped for COVID safety. Students will be able to come into the Vora lounge from 11:30 am - 1: 00 pm to pick up their books (Maintaining social distancing and room capacity rules). We will keep an excel sheet record of who attends the events. Clean up at 1:00 pm. Old SGA Board - Khin Oo, Anthony Dicecca, Tyler Dobratz, Serene Bahi, Ananya Koka, William Kim, and Abhay Dhillon + New SGA Board will clean up items and organize the room.

We aim to do this by holding a fundraiser for "A Little Bit of Luck" gift bags that reflects student's well wishes going into the last half of spring semester and board studying for second years. Each gift bag will hold small trinkets/candy and a note of well wishes for the challenges to come. A google form will be sent out to put in an order for the bags. This will include the account to which payment can be made, the person who ordered the bag, and the individual who will be receiving the bag. Gift bags will then be available for pick up in the Vora Lounge to the students whose emails were listed.

This event will be an opportunity for the students who attended convocation to practice their newly learned OMT skills and also provide students a setting to ask questions about convocation. The goal is that after this evening interest will be built among the members of SAAO to plan to attend convocation in the Spring of 2023. The event will be on April 12th at 5 pm in the OPP lab.

Dr. Coughlin will then walk students through how to close different size surgical incisions, using basic suturing techniques. Students will use kits provided by the Simulation club. These kits will be bought off of amazon by the club, then the students attending the event will repay the club. These kits are $10.00 each. The clinic will be held in the red barn at the Student Learning Center.
	April 7, 2025 at 11:19 AM	Approved	5 Element Acupuncture - Healing with the Elements	SOMA	04/07/2025	05/05/2025	SOMA is looking to host an integrative medicine workshop open to all SOMA members and students on May 5th, 2025 from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM in the pharmacy conference room on the 4th floor (A4-223). The room has been reserved by Rebecca Banta. Dr. Stephany Esper will be speaking at the event by describing how individuals are matched with one of the five elements followed by explaining certain dysfunctions they can have within their element and how to treat those. While she explains, Dr. Hendryx has agreed to perform acupuncture on selected students of different elements so students can understand the practice better and receive exposure to the use of acupuncture. Our goal is to expose SOMA members to another method of healing different from traditional medicine with a more integrative, osteopathic focus. This will allow our members to expand their horizons and become more well-rounded through the knowledge of different holistic practices.

SAACOFP (Family Medicine Club) would like to host our annual white coat embroidery fundraiser. We will be offering name and/or LECOM shield embroideries. We would charge $10 for name or LECOM shield or medical student, $20 for both name & LECOM shield, and $25 for name, LECOM shield, and medical student. White coats would be collected in the cafeteria on Monday September 16th, 2024 from 12 pm - 1 pm, Tuesday September 17th, 2024 from 12 pm - 1 pm, Thursday September 19th, 2024 from 12 pm - 1 pm, and then finally on Friday September 20th, 2024 from 12 pm - 1 pm. Coats will be returned to students ~4 weeks after collection dates once embroidery is completed. Students will be able to collect their coats in the cafeteria. Dates for collection are TBD based on when embroidery is complete. This will be a cash only event!

SAACOFP will be distributing candy grams on 12/04/24 to OMS-1 & OMS-2 to their lockers (top portion); we will also be hosting a quilt making event for AIDS Day in Case Room 117 on 12/05/24 from 11:30-2:00pm. Immediately after the quilt making event, students will gather in the atrium to form LECOM's annual AIDS day ribbon picture. *ALL bags for candy grams will be SEALED, and any food or drinks contained within are NOT to be consumed anywhere outside of cafeteria or Vora Lounge! The candy grams will be sold at $3 each, and students can buy 2 for $5; if any students wish to donate more money than the listed amount(s), they are more than welcomed to do so! All profits will be donated to Elton John AIDS Foundation.
	March 6, 2023 at 3:51 PM	Approved	"What I wish I knew going into MS2" with Jake Kesiel	Neuropsych Club	03/06/2023	03/20/2023	The NeuroPsych Club would like to host Jake Kisiel, D.O. for an hour of answering questions and sharing his perspective on what he "wishes he knew going into M2" over Zoom. Jake is a LECOM grad class of 2022 and is currently a PGY-1 at Millcreek's Psychiatry residency program. At such a critical time point on our road to be osteopathic physicians, we believe Jake would be an invaluable resource for students deciding what to do over the Summer (as it fast approaches) and how to strategize to make M2 as successful as possible. Plus, being a fresh LECOM grad, Jake will have a better idea of what sort of opportunities exist at LECOM and Erie at large that can help maximize our next steps as M2s towards our future careers. Prior to the event we will open up a google document so students can pose questions for Jake to answer. Also, as part of our COVID mitigation strategy we will be hosting the event over Zoom.
