We also would like to hold a trunk-decorating volunteer event on the 29th from 6-7pm in the LECOM parking lot to organize the candy we will be handing out on the 30th and to put together decorations for the trunk-or-treat event.
January 16, 2024 at 9:14 AMApprovedTrivia NightLECOM Med Erie - SGA01/16/202402/05/2024I would like to hold a Trivia Night for the students at 6:00 on Monday, February 5th. The event will for students will start at 6:00 for students, but I will be there at 5:30 to ensure set-up. Set-up will consist of logging into Kahoot (an online app that allowed me to set-up the trivia questions). Students will participate in teams 1-5. Prizes will be given out at the end of Rounds 1, 2, and 3. The winners of those prizes will be determined by whichever team accumulated the most amount of points for that round (the team who scores the most at the end of round 1 will get a prize, the team who scores the most during round 2 will win a prize, etc.). A grand prize will be given out to the team who accumulated the most amount of points throughout all three rounds. The prizes are listed in the document below, and have been approved by the LECOM SGA Board. Trivia Questions are also in the attached document. Each round should take 15-30 minutes, and the whole event should take 60-90 minutes. After the event has been concluded, participants will be expected to promptly leave the lecture hall and SGA will ensure that no mess has been made.

This workshop presents a chance for students to learn how to identify and treat a trauma vector. As future osteopath, it is important that we explore avenues of wholistic treatments, and since trauma vectors are not covered in our OPP lab curriculum, SAAO hopes this will be a wonderful learning experience for our members to partake in. After a general welcome and overview, the club will go into breakout rooms in order to ask questions specific to each pathway, which will be led by the second-year representatives from each respective pathway. Anyone that comes and pays the fee to enter the building and says they are there for the LECOM fundraiser will have 20% of the amount they pay go towards the pediatrics club during the time slot provided. Participants will be free to jump around on the trampolines and use the trampoline park during the hour slot they pay for. The trampoline park is fully staffed and set up for all ages of people to come and bounce safely. We will pick up a check from the trampoline park that following Monday.

August 30, 2024 at 6:17 PMApprovedThe Trevor Project Pin Sale FundraiserAllies08/30/202410/01/2024Recently in the US and across the world, there has been increased hate and violence towards the LGBT community, particularly towards the transgender community. Pauly Likens was a 14 year old transgender girl who was brutally murdered this summer about an hour away from Erie in Sharon, PA. This was the 19th violent killing of a transgender person, and the fourth killing of a transgender teenager, since the beginning of 2024. In her memory and to support future LGBT youth, Allies Club will be selling pins during the entire month of October to raise money for The Trevor Project. The Trevor Project is a nonprofit organization that does important advocacy work by supporting transgender youth, campaigning to end conversion therapy, and providing resources for LGBT people. Among the many resources they provide, The Trevor Project is also known for being the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. There will be three pin options for students to choose from. The first is a pin with a rainbow that states "you are safe with me", the second is a heart shaped pin with the progress pride flag on it, and the third is a transgender pride flag that states “protect trans youth”. The pins will be sold for $25 each. The orders will be placed on a google form with money sent via venmo or cash and then Allies club will order the pins and hand them out to students at the end of the fundraiser. Allies Club will reach out to Pauly Likens’ family to obtain permission to make a donation in her honor. If they do not respond or do not allow permission, Allies Club will simply make the donation in memory of the lives of LGBT people who have been lost to anti-LGBT hate. We will also have guidelines in place to ensure safe, respectful conversations among peers. Our advisor will be present at the meeting.

The event will consist of several discussions with student facilitators who will be provided a set of questions to guide the conversations. We will also have guidelines in place to ensure safe, respectful conversations among peers. MSFC will be introduced as an outside community organization unaffiliated with LECOM, and the speaker will be Lindsey Gorman, the president of the chapter. She will be discussing her organization's role in maternal health. The other two speakers leading the discussion and event will be from SNMA and WHMS e-board representatives.
March 9, 2026 at 5:05 PMApprovedThe Great Erie Bake OffAllies03/09/202604/28/2026Overview: This fundraising event will bring the bakers of our medical school together to compete to win a prize! With the submitted baked goods, we will have students pay $4 to “judge” the desserts and we will count up the votes and crown a winner of each category! This event is in collaboration with SOMA and Mental Health Task force so all costs and will be split between the groups and money raised will be split between SOMA and Allies. Details: We will have students sign up to bake for a chance to win a $15 Lucky Bean (local coffee shop) giftcard in their category. There will be four categories: Brownies, cookies, cupcakes, and gluten free (which can be anything as long as it’s gluten free). We are capping each category at 10 submissions, although we don’t expect this many bakers. A baker will sign up to bake 1 dozen of their chosen item and submit it to the tables set up in the cafeteria by 7:45AM on April 28th (Day of the event). We are requesting two tables in the back of the cafeteria on April 28th to be used the whole day. The bakers cannot use any tree nuts to avoid common allergens. The baked items submitted will be cut into 4 pieces. (ex. Typical size brownie will be cut into 4 pieces or cupcake cut into 4 pieces). This is so each judge can try potentially 10 of their baked item category. The baked goods will be on the back tables from 7:45am till the event starts at lunch. They will be covered with a sign saying it’s for this event. The actual event will begin at 11:30AM and end at 12:50PM so both the first and second years and any faculty can participate in judging. The judging form will include: name, category judging, rate 1-5 for taste, appearance, texture, and the “IT factor” for each baked good in the category, and “have you paid $4 cash or Venmo”. Any student can pay $4 to “judge” the competition and will pick one category to judge. For instance, a student can judge the cupcake category. They will pay 4$ and receive a judgement form and ¼ of each cupcake submitted. They will try each one and rate each cupcake they try out of 5 in the following “taste, appearance, texture, the “IT factor”. They will then submit the form back to Allies member manning the table. If a student wants to judge multiple categories, they will pay $4 for each category they’d like to judge. The form has check marks to ensure no negativity can be written in and it’s purely a number value. The ultimate rankings will be private and only the winner of each category will be announced publicly the following day. A member of the Allies club will be manning the tables the entire event to collect the money, hand out judgment forms, and ensure judgement forms are submitted back. Our club supervisor will be present. Allies will be providing forks, knives, plates, tablecloths, and napkins as to not disrupt the cafeterias supply. The cafeteria’s operations will be unaffected by this event as all items will come from this club directly. Allies will be ensuring the tables are maintained and clean up entirely when this event concludes. Any leftover baked goods will stay on the back tables covered up with a descriptive sign until class is out at 5pm to be picked up. Any left food items will be taken away by Allies Club as to ensure a proper cleanup. The attached flier, when approved, will be printed and hung in the locker room to advertise for baker submissions and spread awareness for students to judge the event.

This event will occur in November and is open to all students and faculty. We want to set up a collection bin at the main entrance by the security office. The donations can include canned goods, pasta, dish soap, etc. A flier with all the donations is attached and will be sent to those who wish to volunteer. There will be a sheet to track the type of donations and who donates. On November 21st, we will be bringing the donations to the drop off site. Every item will be worth 0.5 hours of community service with a maximum of 2 hours.

Kids can bring their own bear or buy one at the festival and we would use our stethoscopes to pretend to listen to the bears hearts and lungs. The shifts are 2-3 hours long.
