There will be many different study styles presented. They will also talk about Pathoma, Sketchy, First Aid, Boards and Beyond and OnlineMedEd. A google form will be provided ahead of time for MS1s to submit any questions they want to ask the presenters. People who submit a question by February 4, 2022, by 11:59 PM will be entered into a raffle to win a gift card. This will be a great event for MS1s to gain some insight and start developing strategies to effectively study for Systems.

This is because our weekly work with the YMCA kids clubs is constituted of playing with the kids and helping them with anything they might ask of a mentor. We do not discuss club issues at these weekly gatherings but rather spend 1 -1.5 hours volunteering to work with the kids affiliated with the Y and thus our club. Therefore, we would like for these gatherings to be recognized as volunteering by the school.

We would have this party July 31st. It would be locally sourced to support the businesses (food, rentals, etc) that were affected by the pandemic and also open up students (online and incoming) to Erie. We would like this party to be on the Softball field. The students would have the chance to make friends and build a support system before the year picks up, take home LECOM swag like pens/sunglasses/retractable ID holders, and play games.
August 18, 2023 at 1:31 PMCancelledIntubation Clinic - Dr. RisaviEmergency Medicine08/18/202311/11/2023We would like to give our members the opportunity to participate in an intubation clinic run by Dr. Risavi, our club advisor. Dr. Risavi would like to come in on a Saturday to talk to EM club members about respiratory emergencies and intubation as an important clinical skill. There will be a presentation to discuss the importance of airway management, and to familiarize students with protocols and techniques. There will then be a hands-on learning opportunity for students to participate in practicing intubation techniques. It will give our members the chance to interact with one another while learning valuable skills they will learn more about on rotations. All equipment for the interactive activity will be provided by Dr. Risavi. A sign-up sheet will be provided for students to participate with a maximum of 30 students allowed to sign-up. Students will adhere to current COVID Regulations set by LECOM. Our Club Advisor, Dr. Risavi, has approved of the event and will be in attendance. This event will be held on Saturday November 11th in Pharmacy Lecture Hall A and the OPP Lab from 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Outside meetings will still occur for the club but these weekly gatherings are strictly service oriented and volunteer based.

The purpose of this event is to allow for a break from our studies and facilitate a mental health break for our students. Additionally, this would help enhance the camaraderie of the class of 2025 as we head into our final semester of didactic learning. Details: I was thinking 30 tickets based upon a current ongoing poll within the class (could be less). Once the results of the poll is finalized later this week, I will have a set interest of the number of students interested in tickets. The prospective date is Nov 5th at 7 pm. I have spoken with an Otters representative and he said: "Our ticket prices are $14 center ice, $12 west end or $10 east end." If we reserve 30 tickets the cheapest option would be $300 with the most expensive being $420. CARP plan: as this is an event during the (hopefully) low covid incidence rate in erie county, we would not have a specific COVID plan in place. However, each student will be sitting in a designated section surrounded by other lecom students to ensure that the spread of any potential diseases can be limited. Additionally, we will have an exact list of students that attended the event in case there is a need to contact them afterwards. Again, this would be an excellent way for LECOM students to get out and enjoy the many great events that Erie has to offer while also serving as a mental health escape for a few hours!

Now it is called "Rotating Rotations" and instead of Presque Isle will be happening on campus in Lec Hall Day on Sept. 27th.

They have done amazing work and have made a difference in the lives of roughly 10,000 individuals yearly. Their mission is to enable, educate and empower the visually impaired through supporting, motivating, and mobilizing preeminent eye hospitals, blind schools, vision professionals, technology innovators, governments and nongovernmental organizations serving the underprivileged segments of Indian society. March 13, 2022 at 7:35 PMCancelledFatphobia in MedicineMental Health Task Force03/13/202204/13/2022This will be a MHTF-guided discussion on the impact of weight stigma in medicine and the mental health consequences of that stigma on patients and their health outcomes. We will discuss how fatphobia has impacted us personally and continues to be present in our medical journey, and how that has affected our relationship with medical practitioners and could affect our future patients. Using examples from medical and public health literature, we’ll examine our view of obesity as an epidemic and as a measure of mortality risk, and how that has influenced medical perspectives on weight. We will also discuss the genetic and socioeconomic components of weight, and how those might be barriers to thinness. Finally, we will also brainstorm together how we, as future physicians, can help address fatphobia in our practice and make patients more comfortable, such as asking permission to discuss weight and trusting patients to know their own bodies. Those who participate actively will get a $10 gift card, as this event will be in lieu of the monthly breakfast.
