This fundraiser would lessen the out of pockets costs to try and garner more people to travel and represent at a national level at convocation. This is a "digital" fundraiser. People will use the link we provide and place their order for a dozen donuts online. They'll then receive a confirmation code that can be taken to any Krispy Kreme across the country for them to receive their order. We did this to try and promote SAAO-Erie at a national level. This is a great opportunity for us as future medical professionals to make a meaningful impact in our community. Why Your Participation Matters: The Community of Caring offers more than just shelter—they provide critical resources, hope, and stability to those facing homelessness, health challenges, and financial hardship. By contributing, you can help bring relief to people navigating some of life’s toughest circumstances. How You Can Help: Donate Items from the "Needs List": We have attached a list of items needed by the shelter, which includes toiletries, clothing, and other essentials that can make a real difference. Earn Volunteer Hours: For every 2 items donated, you will receive 1 volunteer hour (up to 2 hours for 4 items). Although the hour limit is capped at 2, we encourage you to donate as much as you can—every contribution helps! Where to Donate: A donation box, clearly labeled, will be located near the north entrance of the school. The donation drive will take place from November 14 through November 22, 2024.October 2, 2025 at 9:08 AMApprovedPediatric Club- Bone Marrow DrivePediatrics Club10/02/202510/27/2025We are collaborating with the Oncology Club to participate in the "Be the Match" Bone Marrow Drive! This is an incredible opportunity for students to give back to the community through a life-saving cause. Educational Purpose: This drive is not only a way to help patients in need of bone marrow transplants, but also a volunteer opportunity for our members to engage in healthcare advocacy and community service. We’ve ordered 75 cheek swab kits from the official Be the Match organization. Participants will provide a DNA sample by swabbing the inside of their cheek and placing the swab in a sterile tube provided in the kit. The process is quick, painless, and can potentially save a life. One member from each club will be stationed at our sign-up table to answer questions and assist participants with the swabbing process. We are planing to host the event every day at lunch from Monday October 27 - Thursday October 30thJanuary 26, 2024 at 10:16 PMApprovedMcKean Elementary School Science FairPediatrics Club01/26/202402/23/2024We are attending the elementary school's science fair and presenting a booth. We are going to make a team on the app that anyone in LECOM (students and faculty) can join. Then on April 1st, we are going to start tracking everyone’s miles on the team. To use the free app, people will just hit “outdoor walk” or “outdoor run” (other options on the app as well) and their miles will be tracked by the app. While they walk or run, the app calculates how much money that person made while they were working out and directly sends the money to charity. The app is free to download and use, and the money is all from sponsors of the company, so there are no sponsors needed for the event. We will send out instructions on how to use the app and how to start a workout. We are also going to keep track of the miles that people walk/run and the top five participants from our school are going to get a twenty dollar gift card. Both of our clubs are going to send out a weekly update of the top five and how much money we have raised as a group. We are going to ask people to raise money for Save the Children and Unicef since they are sending relief to Ukraine, but the app has lots of amazing charities and each individual can choose which one they want to personally support. We know that we are a little late on the one month policy, so if we have to start later in April that is fine, but we are going to be holding the event for a month. Since it is just when people work out, it is a COVID safe event that can be done remotely and all through the app. We are also hoping that this will encourage our fellow students and the faculty to get out and move more in the nicer weather. We would love to answer any questions that you might have!March 12, 2019 at 11:25 AMApprovedCookie Decorating with the SLCSOMA04/24/201904/24/2019Volunteers will be helping seniors ice spring themed cookies that will be enjoyed by the SLC residents and the remainder will be donated to the local firehouse.
